Always linked with quality often end up with rubbish

Recommended Posts

I fear that yet again we are going to end up sign 3rd and 4th choice players.

Are we heading for another transfer window where we don''t get our main targets.

The cynics among us might go as far as to say the club even knows they won''t sign. They offer £2m for sharp but then offer him well below the going rate in wages. Outcome he signs for the club who will pay good wages and the board pacify the fans with the "we tried" line. Hope I''m wrong.

Norwich strict wage structure has been a problem for years but it is now more than ever a big factor in why players won''t sign.

Don''t break the bank fine, but don''t expect players to sign for us if we are not going to pay the going rate for players of their talent.

I cant remember the precise figures, I''m afraid, but I think we actually have one of the higher wage bills in the division.

Since we also have one of the smaller squads it would suggest that far from being a problem (from the players'' point of view) we actually pay better wages than most in the championship.

[/quote]I''d be very proud if we made a stand. The same people who bleat on about player loyalty are the same ones who then spout we should be buying that loyalty. It doesn''t work. I''d kiss badge for £40k a week and dye my hair too. The entire wages structure is obscene. £40k a week for Reo Coker??? Get real. Sky have been the saviour of the game but also its biggest problem. I''m not sure what the answer is. Even the demise of clubs like Leeds dont seem to bring the message home to fans who just cannot grasp the fact that, sadly, its a business first and a labour of love second........ Sad.

None of us has any real idea of what the wage structure is and it is pretty nigh impossible to hazzard anything other than a wild guess at what the true figures are.

All we can say with any certainty is that our wage bill is amongst the highest in the division.

Therefore why invent a scenario that has no basis in fact.

So if our wage bill is one of the biggest in the division then some prity crap players are on big bucks. Either that or Hux and Earnie are on 60k a week.

If we are big wages payers then why aren''t players like Sharp bashing our door down to sign.

I don''t believe we are paying top money for this division. We are paying average wages to average players who are not even performing at an average level hence our position in the league last year.

Possibly - but average doesnt mean they are right. Too much money in the kitty. How can anyone justify £20k a week for football at this level

We should be setting our stall out, regardless of the fact that kick-off in the Chumpionship is more than 7 weeks away.......I think the league''s going to be survival of the ''grittiest'' and we were certainly thin on the ground in so many, many areas, on the 2 previous ''attempts'' at promotion since relegation.

As stated by a previous poster (and me also being a personal cynic of the NCFC board) are they just ''seen to be doing'' to pacify the disgruntled and impatient fans? Or, is there an all out effort being made to get what Pointy Pete actually wants on the team-sheet - but those pesky agent provocateurs, always run circles around those employed to pull in the big fish - but then sadly, we eventually end up with a saucer full of overpriced whitebait.

I''m not saying that all the other clubs'' are more efficient in attracting ''quality'' to their sides.....But, Cardiff? What is their ''aura of ambition''? And the Bluebirds being a considerable travelling distance from the central hub of this league.

We can but wait, for more than ''whitebait''..........Maybe, we''ll change the maggot on the hook for a big fat juicy worm.......as we definitely can''t fund a Russian Stern trawler and factory ship.

We certainly haven''t got a given right to purchase the quality, I just wish they''d try that little bit harder - as the outstanding (and relatively patient) support of this club, certainly deserve it........I think.

C''mon board, stop being spineless liberal democrats "GO FOR IT!"[:@]

The only factual statement in your original post is that we bid £2 million for Sharp. The rest is pure speculation.

The only part of this post that is anywhere near the truth is "some pretty crap players are on big bucks".

You have invented a scenario where we bid high but pay low. The inference is that this is done to discourage an actual signing while appearing to fans that we have ambition.

Thats an interesting idea for the Conspiracy Theorist but like most Conspiracy Theorys has little basis in fact.

Our wage bill is the highest in the division, or certainly up there at the top end anyway.

The worrying thing is, apart from Earnie and Hucks, how many other players deserve to be on high wages?  Oh sorry I forgot, Thorne, Jarret.....  Thanks Worthie

As I''ve said elsewhere...Sharpe in Earnshaw out...where is the progress? Swap one midget for another who will earn less equates to a wage saving exercise for the Board.

Add Sharpe, Eastwood and a few others to Earnshaw and I might just see some light at the end of the tunnel.

Cluck I doubt you''ll ever see light at the end of the tunnel (taht you don''t dismiss as the the headlights of a oncoming train. There''s none as blind as them that won''t see splrings to mind.

Keep Earnshaw, add Sharp, Eastwood and Cureton, even without additions to defence or midfield, those four would go a long way to getting us in the play offs.....

Note to self, must stop mixing alcohol and antibiotics.....
