grant's indecision cost us dear tonight...

Recommended Posts

first, city played well enough to deserve all 3 points, missed chances and a defensive screw up gifted wolves the victory.

however....my beef is with grant after wolves were reduced to 10 men.  i couldn''t see what the shape of the team was for 5 mins, then it became clear city were paying 4-4-2 with hucks alongside thorne, with hughes left wing....its obvious to anyone that hughes is not a left winger in any shape or form, and lacks any kind of rapport with the players around him in this posi, especially drury.....result - city didn''t create anything for a good 10 mins.  i was screaming for grant to get hucks back on the left, take hughes and thorne off, and get martin and jarvis on.  after hughes subsitiution, with hucks back on the left, we looked different again, and had 2 gilt-edged chances, only to fluff ''em. you get''s nitghts like that in football, but granty looked all at sea for 10 vital minutes and i''m worried he lacks the experience needed - he needs to get a grip tactically and pronto - why wasn''t hunter whispering some suggestions in his shell like - he''s got FA badges coming out of his nether regions after all?leeds on saturday is now a 6 pointer - a must win, a defeat is unthinkable.

[/quote]It''s a 6-pointer because if we lose, not only do we lose 3 points, but a team right below us gains 3 points.Hence a "6 pointer"Do you see?

Some very good points LGT. I will give Grant credit for realising his mistake in one sense but I still wonder why we didn''t go three at the back and push Robbo forwards. I felt we missed Robinson when he went into defence, infact it is the best I have seen him play and for me he was our best player in the first half.

Adam Drury too played like a Captain, a really good game.

But as for Dickson Etuhu. Oh dear!

Totally agree with that...once they went down to 10 men we should have gone 3 at the backI''d have thought shove Doherty down the middle and bring on McVeigh to play on the left in place of hughes...Also not sure why Thorne stayed on the pitch at all, and once again Dickson Etuhu waves as the game passes him by...

I wouldn''t say Drury always plays like a Captain or that he should be Captain SD, but tonight I thougt he led by example.

I do agree with Adams point that professionals shouldn''t need someone on the pitch to gee them up. Etuhu for example doesn''t need a Captain he needs a rocket.

Wouldnt agree with the PUs assessment that Drury was man of the match but he had a damn good game last night - defended well and got forward very well and effectively too
