Baldyboy 1 Posted September 20, 2006 reading all the reports it seems these two had excellent games last night so why not go to a 442 on sat with ryan up front and eagle wide left? replace mcveigh and robbo and then we may see something more positive than the last three league games? would appreciate it if those who went to game can say whether these two did in fact play as well as people in the media are suggesting. silver fox 0 Posted September 20, 2006 It would be nice to see them both on Saturday, but I suspect you might see only Jarvis on the bench.
Huddy 0 Posted September 20, 2006 I would say yes. I think a 4-4-2 with huckerby and Croft in midfield is risky but without Huckerby we can probably play the formation. I also thought mcveigh was crap on saturday and so i would give eafle a go. I would play Rossi J at left back if he was as good as radio norfolk made out and play Ryan J up front with earnshawGallagherColin Doherty Shackall Rossi JCroft Safri Etuhu EagleRyan J EarnshawI actually am not sure whether this is better than the 4-3-3, i think perhaps robinson should play. The problem is that if you play the 4-3-3, Ryan J would play wide left up front and i dont know if that suits himGallagherColin Doherty Shackall Rossi JRobinson Etuhu SafriCroft Earnshaw Ryan JWho would you Leave out ot accomodate Ryan Jand Eagle presuming croft was fit? Its a tough decision.

komakino 282 Posted September 20, 2006 I didn''t go last night, but it is encouraging that our younger players performed well. The problem is with our hapless manager is that he does not have the confidence in youth and won''t play them at Championship level unless he really has to.Considering the club isn''t spending much cash I find this attitude bizarre and unacceptable. XXL16 0 Posted September 20, 2006 I was a bit shocked about Eagle have a chance to play because his position were fully occupied by Robinson, Hughes, Safri and Etuhu, but doesn''t matter because it was great for any youngster from the academy who got a chance to play. Wouldn''t see him in the first team but I think Rossi and Ryan Jarvis will get the chance very soon, with Micky Spillane too, at least in next round all will play again! canary cherub 1 Posted September 20, 2006 What caught the eye about Ryan Jarvis was that he is a predator, he has a killer instinct. For his first goal, yes the keeper spilled it but how often does that happen and there''s no one to put it away? He pounced like an animal and really lashed it in. In the second half especially, when Dickson came on for Robbo we were more attack minded and he responded very well to Dickson''s through balls.Robert Eagle played by far the best I have seen him. In the two reserve games he was a bit of an individualist and wasn''t getting himself into positions to receive the ball. But last night he had a very difficult job and responded magnificently. He was coming back to defend and support Rossi Jarvis towards the end.Rossi struggled throughout to be fair. But he''s not played 90 minutes all season and, as his brother pointed out, he''s a central midfielder not a left back. He also had an inexperienced player in front of him at left midfield. At the end of the day he was on the winning side and should benefit from the experience. Realistically, once Hucks is fit he will almost certainly be back in the side. I''d be cautious about giving Eagle an extended run in the starting XI at this stage anyway, but it looks like Hucks could soon have genuine cover. Ryan is two years older, and if he continues from where he left off last night he might force his way into the starting XI by the end of this season - or even sooner, depending on his progress and what happens in the January window. Don''t let''s get carried away though, we were up against a mid table League 1 side. In fact Rotherham played more football than I expected, in contrast to Northampton last season which was like playing a team of nightclub doormen with roid rage! Edward-Hughes 0 Posted September 20, 2006 it sounded like eagle had a great game as well as Jarvis. Eagle is still unproven but i think jarvis when he plays always does ok. i think he should start on saturday upfront with earnie if not on the left side on a 4-4-3. Mcveigh is more of an impact player. all his good peformances come from of the bench. Boyle should still retain his place on saturday but rossi will get his chance again and he did well at left back when he usually prefers to play centre midfield. Shackell should be dropped and bring flem back into defence becuase Jason has been awful recently.
