Trent Canary 0 Posted April 28, 2006 Was chatting to a Norwich fan in a club last night, we summed up the season as such: -"A disappointing top 8 finish, assuming thats where we finish. We have no central midfield, no right wing, we are too defensive, we long ball too much, we are terrible away from home, we have a tactically inept manager, we have people calling for his head and the atmosphere is pretty bad."... Then he added: -"Mind you, it was exactly the same situation at the end of the 02/03 season, and things didnt turn out too badly the following year!I still dont think he could keep us in the premiership, but too all those people who seem to be sure that next season will be wasted with him in, I reckon many of you were saying the exact same things after 02/03. Infact by coincidence I remember coming home after our final home game against Wolves with Canary call flooded with Worthy out calls. So its just a little something to think about. Im not saying anyone is wrong, lets face it anything could happen next year, just trying to offer hope and optimism so we can get behind our team if worthy happens to still be here. And as I seem to always have to say I want him out, not trying to wind anyone up etc etc

If the board back Worthy with serious money to add to the squad and he uses that money well then hopefully this dogs dinner of a season can be forgotten. Buying the right players (and early) would be enough to excite a lot of fans again and I would predict the first game at Carrow Road next season will be a very different atmosphere from the one we will see on Sunday.I was very disappointed that Worthy was made manager 5 years ago because I felt the club had taken the cheap opition. He and the board completely proved me wrong and they could very well do again by buying the right players and getting the tactics right. Again I will hold my hands up and admit I was wrong if that is the case.

Trent Canary 0 Posted April 28, 2006 "Buying the right players (and early) would be enough to excite a lot of fans again and I would predict the first game at Carrow Road next season will be a very different atmosphere from the one we will see on Sunday."Precisely. The way the board robably see it, and I agree, is that a few good signings and a few good wins at the start of next season will see all the fans chanting his name again. Akin to Pardew at West Ham. As you say, Ill happily admit I was wrong if he does well, as he has done in the past. Its just the good signings part that we need, which he has also done in the past. Sing up the river end 0 Posted April 28, 2006 Have to agree there Trent, the players have to be signed early. We needstability from day one,not a mad rush to sign players in August
macdougalls perm 0 Posted April 28, 2006 Trent, this is a great post - we''ll have to see how the beginning of next season goes.
Evil Monkey 52 Posted April 28, 2006 Have to agree, I think any optimism or negativity for the coming season will depend almost entirely on Worthy''s signings this summer, and his ability to use them to the best of their ability at the start of the new season.Worthy has made some great signings in the past, including the master stroke trio of Hucks / Crouch / Harper when we needed them the most (and don''t forget who bought us Drury, Francis and McKenzie). Problem is, he''s also made some bad ones, and even some of the good ones just haven''t been well managed - Bentley comes immediately to mind...Buying someone like Chris Brunt and Lee Cook in the Summer would be all well and good, but if they then have to sit on the bench whilst Hoooooose and Robinson trundle around, there may as well have been no point.I think Worthy should go now, personally, but if he is going to stay around, which it looks like he is, then I''m happy to sit back and see what happens... No point getting upset about something I can''t change... though try telling that to some...
Trent Canary 0 Posted April 30, 2006 We even have the comfortable defeat by Wolves in the last home game of the season to match!

Misery Guts 0 Posted April 30, 2006 Hope your right Trent , hopefully Mckenzie will play a more prominent role and we''ll get a decent midfield together next season

People criticize Hughes, but we got promoted with the much-criticized Gary Holt there! So it can happen... Anything to be optimistic I guess!
