Todays substitutions..

You answered your own question, why bring on more defensive players who will make the team sit deeper and invite pressure,  when we all know the defence is very average.

What, a centre back when it was 2-2? Think gibbs lasted two seconds, then a winger came on.

Look at some games we've barely had a sniff in the first half. Nothing changes until 80mins

We can shift this to being about the whole season if you want, but then you'd have to admit that you've changed the goalposts.

The moment we stick Barnes up top on his own we're playing with 10 men, happens every bloody time.

This is why fans don't take to Wagner.

Despite the fact that after doing that, we still could have scored a 3rd. Somehow playing Barnes up front alone meant that Sargent wasn't able to stop two goals from set pieces?

Wagner and his tombola substitutions and tactics last night reminded me that every few games he shows why he is not the man to take the club forward.

I don't think it was tombola, but just because people don't know all of the information and we didn't win apparently he's all kinds of wrong and the usual suspects on here all think they are Knapper... or his successor.

No , taking Sargent off and not bringing another striker on, carry on pressing higher up the pitch with fresh legs.

This was only going to be of limited value. Wednesday completely changed their tactics at half time.

In the first half they continually tried to play out from the back - with disastrous results.

They made 4 substitutions at half time and went full Sunday League Meat Head. In the end we weren't able to hold out against the constant aerial barrage.

Pressing high up the pitch is fine when the opposition are trying to play out from the back, but is far less effective if the first opposition player with the opportunity just lumps it forward.

Sargent was not injured and is now fully fit according to Wagner and the way Sheffield Wednesday were turning the screw on our defence for the last twenty or so minutes it was obvious it needed help so why wait until the 89th minute to introduce Duffy ?

Exactly. We looked likely to conceed straight after the whistle for the 2nd half. When he was on the pitch. We were too weak when it came to their corners. Angus was bullied at the corners. Why wasn't one of our players pushing back to give Angus space to react. Mentally weak to give up after conceding the first and lacking defensively minded ability. Plus the attackers missed easy goals to put us far ahead, so we couldn't be caught. It's clearly the players and not wagner. Which we all know. If we do some how manage to go up, we need to strengthen a lot and the same can be said if we stay in this league.

Was a joke last night we desperately needed fresh legs and he did a big fat zero when it really mattered.  Why the hell isn’t The Dutch lad getting mins . Surely he could have held ball up ??  He clearly trusts no one on bench so what’s the point in having them there??? We weaker now than in Jan we might as well have kept the guy from forest !! At then he brings Duffy on ten mins too late after horse has bolted . Never seen a game where we were coasting so well and we totally threw it away . Felt like a defeat walking out and all was so avoidable .

'The guy from Forest' had an impending court case didn't he? And he was injured.

He wasn't fully fit barely a week ago, ran his socks off on Saturday too. In fact, people on this very forum were questioning whether he had 90 in him after Saturday.

And it was a draw. A draw where bar two set pieces, we played well and Wednesday barely threatened in open play for 85mins+ and even then, only because they got dirty and the ref did nothing.

Sargent off in the 60th and Sainz in the 89th.

What we thinking?

Now seems a bit like your Sainz thread when you said he disgraced the club at Middlesbrough. Why don’t you wait before issuing thread after thread.

We don't agree on almost anything here, but one thing nearly everyone seems to agree on is that Duffy is not very good on the ground and a bit of a liability playing out from the back, but very good indeed at coping with an aerial bombardment.

It was clear from the offset of the second half that Wednesday had changed their tactics completely and were intent on playing hoofball and aiming to get set pieces, so I don't understand why we didn't react to that by getting Duffy on. If ever a game suited his talents, the second half of Tuesday's was it.

I know, easy to be clever with hindsight.
