Just seen that Jack Leach is out for the whole series! What would you do? Pick the untried Rehan Ahmed? Recall Will Jacks? Try to beg Moeen out of retirement? Or just rely on Rooty and strengthen the seam attack?

Should be a phenomenal series, although this is a major, major blow for England.

I think the Aussies would have looked to target Leach, but this is a big loss

Would prefer an out and out spinner. If Stokes can bowl then Bairstow will bat at 7 so its Anderson, Broad, Robinson and a spinner.

Is Dom Bess worth another try? If not, it has to be Ahmed. Going with 4 seamers and Root is an option but Ireland gave Joe some tap.

Unavailable for the whole series. I'd be surprised if we ever see him again. 

Jack Leach is a huge problem. I think Moeen Ali is the only viable option. 

I'm worried about Stokes as well. I'd expected him to bowl against Ireland.

Stokes says he can bowl in the 1st Test. But if he breaks down we would need a spinner plus Root.

Not helped by 2 Indian batsmen forgetting to play shots at deliveries aimed at the stumps 

Though to be fair, one nipped back in quite a bit, apparently

They've got 3 superb batsmen as well. It looks like it could be the best Ashes series since 2005.

The fact that several of their players are very easy to dislike also gives it a bit of an edge.
