Sophistry

The use of clever but false arguments with the intention to deceive.

I had to look it up.

Its the sort of thing we have been hearing from politicians pundits and spokesmen for years but I never realized that it was called sophistry.

I would have used 'Disengenous'. Only a subtle difference in meaning.

Journos that use big words are annoying but I'd rather that than Cliche Kid Davitt. 

"Football is a game of two halves so the saying goes and it certainly was at Deepdale on Tuesday night...."

"The Premier League is an unforgiving place and Dean Smith's men found that to be the case on a cold afternoon at St Mary's...."

DO ONE DAVITT! Can't stand him.
