Villa Pre Match Thoughts

Recommended Posts

Dean will definitely know how to set up against our next visitors. A huge match and one we very much need to win.

Obviously a little mention for their Argentine playmaker. It seems Villa fans want him to start and I hope he does. I have a nice feeling his former colleagues and Norwich fans can play some special mind games on Tuesday. Emi trying too hard and seeing red early anyone?

Hopefully we can be clinical vs Villa,we did deserve a point vs United at the very least.

Do we think Giannoulis keeps his place? Or will brandon slot right back in?

We know he’s a talent but we also know if you press him quickly he gives the ball away in dangerous areas at times so if he starts that’s what we need to do.

I slightly worry we may see another Newcastle style performance with the games so close, squad depleted and the effort that was shown last night but ultimately lead to no points.

We need a win, I think we will come out of the blocks fast but I worry we won’t have the legs to last the game. There’s not many real options for rotation in that side that finished yesterday, whereas players like Emi will be well rested if brought in. Williams will be back I suppose but Giannoulis was great so harsh to drop him straight away.

I’m hopeful we will get a result but this mini injury/Covid crisis has, as usual, come at completely the wrong time when we have a winnable game.

We are frustratingly close to being a completely reasonable Prem team.

Structurally we're a lot better and are much more competitive, we just need to start converting the chances we keep generating. At some point, we're bound to connect with 3 or 4 in a game and give someone an absolute pasting out of nowhere- and I really hope its Tuesday night under the lights against Villa.

Even if it doesn't end up that way, DS has us feeling like we're well in for getting a result and that's all we can ask really.
