Does Lampard want Webber's role as well?

Recommended Posts

I wouldn't be surprised if his Uncle suggested he make it a condition of joining. Webber has already shown he is prepared to throw anyone under the bus to save his own skin so anyone coming in will be really weary of the risk. It is hard to see anyone good from the UK wanting to take over without a full managers role. Perhaps Webber could be given a new role as head of travel.

Nothing like blind speculation on a Friday afternoon.

Personally I think Lampard wants Webber's and Smith's job and this is all part of a cunningly disguised takeover by the Khmer Rouge.

This is deranged.

I don't understand peoples insistence that a Sporting Director doing his job and sacking a manager who is underperforming is in fact throwing him under the bus to save his own skin.

I suppose if you are being very very literal about it, he is saving his own skin.

By not being incompetent in his actual job.

He also puts a target on his own back by doing it.

His next appointment is huge and if he hires someone who fails to improve us then it clearly suggests he didn't do his job well in the summer. If he'd have kept Farke and we went down then it would be much less clear cut.

Obviously you don't understand Webbers job very well do you?!

Our setup will inevitably put off some managers, but they would know what our setup is before talks begin so if they aren't interested in joining our setup then those talks won't have happened. Norwich have proved the model works with 2 promotions, a clearout of deadwood and huge investment in the academy since the change, they will be sticking with it.

Yep this is as I see it, I'm not sure how sacking Farke absolves Webber of any blame whatsoever - it is the exact opposite. It narrows down the number of directions fingers can be pointed at if there is failure.

Having sacked Farke, further failure from here means the Webber will bear almost the entire brunt of it! The only question will be as to whether it was poor coaching recruitment or poor player recruitment, but the person responsible for both is clearly Webber.

Nah, Lampard wants Smith & Jones' shares.  Delia is now undertaking due diligence on whether Frank is a fit person according to her rules.  Chrissie is just popping over with the kids for a light lunch to discuss this.
