Crabbycanary3 994 Posted April 27, 2021 Because of ours and Watford's immediate return to the Prem, there will be £83M of parachute payments which will not be paid to both of us (Bournemouth could add to that I presume). This means that money would go 'back' to the Prem (and divided between those Clubs) As Prem Clubs have budgeted for not having this money, would it not be far better going into the EFL and drip fed to those Clubs? It looks like the EFL are asking for a slice, and less than £5M per Prem Club (if it were divided equally) would not make much of a jot to most Clubs but could make all the difference to many EFL Clubs.
cambridgeshire canary 7,797 Posted April 27, 2021 More the better reason for us to do all we can to survive next season.

You're right. It would be better served being drip fed into the football pyramid. Yes,all clubs, including those in the Premier League, have been badly hit by the pandemic. But Premier league clubs could,or should,be able to offset those losses. Clubs lower down the pyramid are and will struggle to do so. Having said all that we all know that it won't be!!!!!💰⚽️💰⚽️💰

AJ 1,358 Posted April 27, 2021 Completely agree that this money should go where it is needed most, going back to the top tier when it isn't going to the clubs who earned it seems incredibly wrong. Spreading 83M across the teams in the bottom reaches of the football pyramid would go a long, long way for those teams
Felixfan 53 Posted April 27, 2021 I thought it automatically went to the Championship.
GenerationA47 863 Posted April 27, 2021 I thought it would go to Real Madrid etc. to save football
Greavsy 2,645 Posted April 27, 2021 Same thing happened last time we got promoted, albeit without the covid impact affecting clubs. Money should stay in championship and filter down..... Obviously EPL clubs will say it will filter down from them.
