Ramrod 258 Posted October 3, 2020 Playing with Lewis instead of Quintilla would have made us less capable because with a packed defence a player who can deliver a cross is more valuable. Playing with Gibson instead of Godfrey improved us defensively. Cantwell and Buendia are busted flushes in this league, only Aarons has the application and is the player we would miss the most. This was a game to play Hughill and hit him with crosses. This was a typical Championship game of attrition. We need to grind out results before we can be more expansive. The team selection and substitutes are the problem. Farke is turning into the new Nigel Worthington. We are back to running this Club on sentiment.
TIL 1010 5,246 Posted October 3, 2020 Can't argue with that but can think of a few who will.

Especially as we know that Quintlla would be putting in cross after cross as he did against Bournmouth.

Gibson went trekking forward and the subsequent breakaway led to Rupp's challenge and the Rooney goal. Apart from that he had seemed sound defensively as you say. vlad666 207 Posted October 3, 2020 The problem was the midfield balance. We had rupp and skip doing the same thing. Rupp was the better player today in my opinion. Defensively we looked solid but that was against a very poor derby side. Again it was so one paced and as soon as we upped the tempo with quick passing we Created our minimal chances. Hopefully things will improve in the coming weeks. A note for concern was buendias petulance again. Giving so many fouls away and losing possession. Saying that maybe you have to accept that as he looks the only person capable of creating something.
