Successful as in sky money and players value if and when sold

but that will mean nothing unless replaced with better or the same standard

the club will be cash rich but we have to recruitment right and get to the EPL ASAP unless the money will be spent and when we need it will will not have any again

highly unlikely we will never get another crop of youngsters like this one

This is the whole point that many posters  dont accept...they  judge success or failure purely on whats happened on the pitch...DF is  talking about the football club in general...ive posted more than once in the last few weeks that yes this season overall has been successful...but that the success was gauranteed  by means of last seasons  promotion. Theres no point  even asking such a question if one is just highlighting the football itself...bottom on 21 points and 10 straight defeats to end the season speaks for itself.

Ive heard time and again that we will never have such a crop of youngsters as this...look...at least while Webber is here and DF is here we will have youngsters with value.

But in essence what this means is that we just look to occasionally get promoted in order to use the parachute payments to prop up the club for the next few seasons and are not bothered if we go down.

supporters should be primarily judging success by what happens on the pitch because that’s the whole point of the game.

we continue to transition into some kind of modern day and slightly larger version of Crewe Alexandra under the guidance of these selfish owners.

The team has not been successful, but the club has undoubtedly moved forwards.

We havent competed this year it is true, but financially the club is on a far better footing. 90m or whatever copped from the promotion, players on long-term contracts with reported 50% salary reduction on relegation. Yongsters now have Premier League experience making them far more saleable. Clubs wont care that the individual was in a team that struggled, because they'll be joining theirs.

Parachute payments acquired for another 2 years without actually having the millstone around our neck that those are supposed to redress.....

Yes we could have a rich sheik, but until that fantasy option happens, the club has actually made a huge leap forwards compared to the situation 2 years ago.

So not a successful season on the pitch. But off it? Most definitely

Very much this. We have achieved very much in line with the Boards aspirations, perhaps DF is just repeating the jist of what he has been told by them and/or the CEO. To go back back down with no financial losses and the players which we wish to keep on manageable contracts will be construed to be a success based on previous experience.

‘Pitch side’ though it has been a embarrassing disaster since the return from lock-down. We knew and expected us to be relegation candidates, but surely a minimum requirement was to ‘be in the mix’, as opposed to the abject surrender we have actually witnessed. And somebody at the club needs to acknowledge that the reasons for this need addressing PDQ if there is any possibility that the ‘The Plan’ will continue on track. There has been an obvious complete lack of motivation, evidence of issues either with DF, the coaching team and some or all of the squad of players. Or a combination of all 3. Whatever the cause, to simply ‘crack on’ regardless would be a serious error.

Well looking ahead and trying to be positive Farke at least has got to  try Godfrey in midfield. We desperately need a more mobile Tettey style player and I think Ben would be good box to box too.

Externally we are rightly being slaughtered by pundits, journos and the like. That isn't going to help transfer values I don't care what anyone says.
