Wasnt Bielsa a name touted with us before his Leeds appointment? Or do I have my FM22 head on this morning?

Paul Gascoigne? The guy who looks like this now and snorted 14 lines of coke before attempting to rescue a killer with a fishing rod? You cant be serious? -

Strange accusation to make for someone called Batty -
Nothing to do with Norwich, just had this video come up on Youtube. Pretty eventful game! Anyone remember when Sheffield Utd had all those players sent off for brutal fouls?
-
Dont know why, but I found myself wondering if a Norwich City XI could be composed of players who played for Scotland whilst with us. I didnt think too hard but got this far Marshall Martin Hanley McLean Dorrans Gilmour Fleck Bench: Gunn I've totally left out some others I had on my list but cant remember who they are. Remember, they had to play for Scotland whilst they were yellows

On the Bryan Gunn matter, it was mentioned on another thread the 7 goal thrashing on the opening day of League 1. That has to come down to the manager surely? I imagine this freak result simply came down to the players being poorly prepared - not enough in pre-season fitness-wise, organisation or tactics-wise, just an amateurish outing, which comes from having an amateur manager running the show. I idolised Bryan Gunn as a kid (though in hindsight I question whether he was actually that good by today's standards? - Controversial I know, and I firmly believe (always have) that we only got relegated that first time around because of his injury, which had a profound negative influence on the fortunes of the club right up to this day) but he should never have been put in that position. Probably the worst managerial appointment since the previous ex-player we hired in Peter Grant.

You enter at a decent level by having been a great footballer. You instantly command respect, your players know you know where you're coming from, you're likely to have worked with the elite as well, and seen how top managers operate. From then onwards however, the skills set is very different. I dont know why clubs keep making this mistake. None so than when we appointed Bryan Gunn

Source? Or is this like when Graeme Le Saux used to be nicknamed the Professor by his team-mates because he had a D in A-Level PE? -
Comments on that article are interesting https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/63339486 This one in particular amused me: Steven Gerrard's Aston Villa will now return to their original 1874 name of "Aston Villa"

Found this BBC headline curious: Steven Gerrard sacked: Aston Villa manager 'undermined by results' (and performances) I would have gotten away with it if it werent for you pesky results!

I think Martinez at Villa was a massive factor in him joining them. On Gerrard and Lampard, I still to this day do not understand why big clubs continue to think top player = top manager -
There was little expectancy from Farke. He himself was a punt, as were most of the initial signings. The promotion season was not expected at all. Having established a level of success at the club, (not just results on the pitch) the club decided to bin this off in favour of Smith. The bar therefore is exceptionally high for Smith, as his appointment needs to be justified every time we play due to the standard he is being held against. Had Smith come in instead of Farke 5 years ago attitudes would be very different

Crossing is still the most effective and most common way of scoring. But I agree that's not Pukki's game at all
