Billings would be out of our league wages wise I would suspect.

The sentiment is good with this post but I feel the players that are too good for the Championship will be too expensive for us. I think we’d be more likely to buy up and coming players (from Peterborough for example) to replace the youngsters going out on loan such as Idah, Andrew O, Martin etc. Apart from that I can see us buying from abroad if we want PL ready players. The Greek forward we are linked with is an example.

He’s mobile, he can pass, he seems an intelligent player. I wouldn’t be too unhappy if we used Rupp but we will need reinforcements.

I’ve been really impressed with what I have seen so far and reminds me of Godfrey in his early days. The one thing I have thought he needs to improve on is he sometimes stands and admires our position following a pass from him rather than moving back into position . With a quick turnover he could be caught out if he’s not on his toes. Just a thought.

One thing we haven’t tried this season is whether Rupp can play instead of Skipp. Rupp may well be the answer for the void left by Skipp next season assuming he doesn’t come back. With Sorensen as back up I feel a lot more comfortable. We’ll still need help in this area but not a major major concern.

I used to play football with his brother and he used to train with us and he was a **** from an early age.

I like our model. It's a model we can be successful with. You just look at Newcastle and Sunderland, big clubs with wealthy owners, heavily over spent year after year and are no better than us and in Sunderland's case a lot worse than us. Ditto Portsmouth, Bolton, Wigan. Even Villa came within a whisker of not making it to the PL in the season they got promoted and a VAR decision away from being relegated last season (vs Sheff Utd ball over line incident). Had that of happened they would be in serious financial trouble now. Bournemouth, if they don't go up are going to be in trouble and there are many clubs that are poorly run, within a whisker of things going bad whereas we have no real debt, an academy to die for and a scouting network which gets it right more often than not. If we had billionaire owners, is a player going to come to us or a team in or near London? It's our age old problem. So rather than trying to compete in an arena we're not comfortable why not stick to what we're good at and has worked since the year dot. Buy good young players off the lower leagues/abroad and develop our own. As we become more successful we will be able to hang onto more and more players especially if we can maintain PL status, but until then I am happy with our progression, our wage structure, our objectives. Stick to what we're good at and don't sell out is my message.

Bielsa is Argentinian so Emi might want to go and play for him so I wouldn’t way Leeds are out of the equation assuming they have £40-50m to spare.

Sigurdsson is 32 in September so won’t be commanding a £45m price tag. By the time the summer gets here he’ll be in the last 12 months of his contract.

How about getting Bellingham on loan next season? He’s quick, direct, knows where the net is and plays on the wing which is a weak spot for us. Bayern Munich would probably be happy to lend him out to get some more experience. What do you think?

From what I have seen and heard Davies from Preston/Liverpool is supposed to be or was the best CB in the Championship according to Darragh MacAnthony. I like the look of Dael Fry as well. They won’t cost the earth (in PL terms). We could lend Boro Famewo and Idah as a make weight. We badly need an upgrade for the Stiepermann position. If we could afford him I’d have a look at Sigurdsson of Everton. He’s excellent on dead balls (which Buendia is definately not), he scores a few and has a good passing range. Backup striker, Josh King is a good shout and I would even go as far and get Defoe in. He’ll be idea to come on for the last 30 mins. Play the odd game. He’s clinical and might be up for a final hurrah!

With Omobamidele emerging and let’s assume we a) get promoted, b) he plays well for the rest of the season, do we go with Hanley, Gibson, Omobamidele and Zimbo and maybe give Tettey another year as cover and to coach the youngsters? Or do we send Omobamidele out on loan and get someone in who has more experience? For me, if he does do exceptionally well, especially against Watford and Bournemouth I would be inclined to keep him and save the money for a decent striker to help Pukki.

Hanley & Kenny will be fine, ditto Cantwell Skipp and Aarons subject to a COVID test. Rupp is injured. Tettey in for Zimbo. I dare say we’ll use all 5 subs though!

He’ll be on a free so that will offset the cost of his wages I’d have thought.

Also if we get relegated he’d be ideal along with Pukki to fire us back up.

I think if we can get an extension out of Farke and Webber so if they do move on we’ll get substantial compensation.

Once promotion is nailed on don’t you think it would be good to give Farke and co a new contract? They deserve it don’t you think?
