  1. I''m not convinced that many players are wanted by other PL clubs upon relegation. Maybe the odd 1, but it won''t be a fire sale. Look at QPR and Wolves. How many of their relegated players have ended up back in the Prem? Even Junior Hoilett and Bakary Sakho were rumoured to be wanted men, but are still plying their trade in the Champ and League 1 respectively.
  2. Even gunny won his first game in chance. We need to roll the dice for the Fulham game and agree Adams is our best bet for the short term. The whole situation has 1995 and Gary Megson temporary appointment written all over it. And those last 5 games back then we''re tough ones also.
  3. For Palace, read ourselves in 2011/12. We of all clubs should know not to value players on paper, but on performances on the pitch. Palace have done brilliantly to be where they are, so let''s not get snobbish. Where we end up will, I''m afraid to say, be deserved.
  4. I didn''t speak to her tonight nutty. She was there, but was sat at a table with her family so people tended to leave her alone. And rightly so this eve. I often like to take a step back in these times and realise that people are heros when things are going well, yet scapegoats when the opposite. In reality, Delia, MNally etc are probably doing no different to when the good times rolled. Yet their own popularity is solely dictated by on field successes, which is largely out of their hands.
  5. Barry Pinches. After all, we virtually need snookers now don''t we?
  6. Yes I agree nutty. I do see that at a football club, all people must be mentally strong as we have 27000 managers watching our work each fortnight. My work can indeed be stressful - Yet I really don''t think I could have thousands having a negative view of me each week and still being able to focus on my job. Must be incredibly difficult, but that is their profession of choice I guess. And they''ve all been players, so someone like Hughton has grown up in that profession for many many years, so public opinion should be something that is sewn into him by now.
  7. For me, ever since 1996 it''s seems like I''ve been stressing about the club being in debt . From £6m it rose to around £22m. Always a noose around our neck and close allegedly to administration on a couple of occasions, yet. 2 successive promotions from league 1 into the Prem, plus 3 successive Prem seasons, have helped us wipe the debt. Does, or should i say will, relegation now mean that debt rises straight back up? I will miss NCFC pitting their wits against top top opposition. I will miss us being on motd. Who the hell watches snippets on the fls show?! I won''t miss the grounds that we will no longer be visiting - I enjoy a visit to Brentford and much as Chelsea, but there will be a significant sense of unachievement until such day we get back up.
  8. Nutty, McN made sure he didn''t give too much football talk away, but believe me, he was down and his face told a thousand words. He seemed defeated to me, but maybe that''s just my impression rather than hard facts. He did say that the formation last week at Swansea was wrong.
  9. You would be hard pressed to find a better championship forward partnership than hooper and becchio. It would take one hell of an arm round his shoulder, and that of a new incoming manager, for him ''to do a Lappin''. Not an impossible scenario however.
  10. Nutty, you are correct that I didn''t see Hoops or Hoolahan there. Publically, McN took to the mike to say we are not going down. A more private conversation with him did not mirror that persona, that''s all I would say. If I were a betting man, there is a realistic chance both manager AND chief exec could be replaced over the summer if relegation ensues.
  11. Majority of players were there. Hughton was there pretty much till the last. Most people queuing to speak to CH. Fair enough, he didn''t duck being there.
  12. Ok, so none of the players really wanted to be there this eve. All seemed on their knees, and rightly so to be fair. The opposite of a celebratory lap of honour or open top bus tour? We''ll this is it. Snodgrass was the last player out to his credit. Pilks will be off in the summer, that no doubt. Claderdash and Trollope cut lonely figures there this eve.
  13. Any tit bits garnered from this evenings knees up? I''ll get the ball rolling by saying Olsson had a shoulder injury but didn''t want to come off. And McNally was very down this eve - surely he wouldn''t walk if we went down?! I hope note.
  14. Definitely agree with Reggie here. In my view, I will be worried with anything we get under 38, especially with our poor GD. That said, Wet Spam win tonight, coupled with Sunderlands horrendous next 5 games, and I would reduce that total by 2 points. there are ALWAYS wired results towards the end of the season when teams get desparate, which must be factored in. Palaces against Chelsea being one of them. We still need ABSOLUTE LEAST 4 points, and maybe 6, to consider ourselves safe. Fail to get 3 points against West Brom and we have a big problem.
  15. 0-1 Carroll. Good start from our point of view. Long way to go mind you.
  16. A rallying call for everyone please! I seem to keep reading that the Sunderland win was the one that all but ensured another season in the PL. Steve Gedge please take note!! Well I''m sorry, but 32 points will not keep you up, I''m pretty darned sure of that. There are ALWAYS weird results at the end of every season , as teams end up getting points you wouldn''t expect them to. Anything under 38 points and for me, I would not be confident it would be enough, especially with you goal difference. So that''s a win against WBA and some points cobbled together from our next 2 away games to make things a little easier to bare for the final 3 games. People keep mentioning about the final day against Arsenal, but if we lose the 3 prior to that, conceding a few goals to boot, please remember that our confidence going into that Arsenal game will be lower than a snakes belly. Ok, so maybe I''m being glass half empty here, but if we waste these next 3 fixtures and especially fail to get a minimum of 4 points from these, I think we will be down come the final reckoning. A bit of a wake up call please that there is still plenty of work for us to do and the job is not done yet.
  17. I''m not saying it''s THE best, but certainly one of my favourites is at 8.52 on the below link, which, by the way, is fantastic viewing in full for all NCFC fans, if you like a bit of nostalgia! Enjoy. http://youtu.be/-TT1hMvjjXM
  18. There is a shirt framing business in Lingwood on Clarkson Rd. I had one done a couple of years ago and have to say I was extremely pleased with it - was professionally done. Would recommend.
  19. Ah, 2005. When we had Leon McKenzie, Matt Svensson, Dean Ashton and some guy called Darren Huckerby all capable of scoring a few goals. This year we have..... erm, well.......
  20. First time under McNally that they have released renewal details at this early stage of the proceedings. Time for some positive spin with a hidden message?.......... Hmmm.
  21. Rob Newman hit the very same part of that River End Crossbar back in 1991 in a match at home to Man City - remember it clearly! Rosarios effort against Southampton in 1989 probably wasn''t as hard as we all remember - it kind of floated into the net if I remember correctly! Greg Downs ht a scorcher in the earlier 80''s. Fashanu''s goal against Liverpool was pretty firmly struck? That said, I still think Jonno''s shot was harder than all these - certainly as hard a shot as I can remember at Carrow Rd. don''t forget that the balls are so light these days however!! If only we could include Jerry Goss''s goal away to Leeds in 1993, now that would run Jonno close!
  22. This would be perfect to inspire the lads when they run out... http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=dJedxtU7iQA Haha, genuinely though I would also go for One Vision by Queen, plus also Ready to Go by Republica.
  23. Felixstowe, yes I agree with that. Shane Long for example.
  24. When people say "its the players fault, not Hughton''s", they are forgetting two fundamental things: it was CH who bought those players in the first place and then decided week after week to put those same players in a certain formation out on the pitch. Hughton has spent a hefty sum, yet on players with next to no experience of scoring goals in the Premier League. Let me analyse his signings prior to coming to NCFC: RVW - nil PL goals Elmander - 18 over 3 years Redmond - nil PL goals Hooper - nil PL goals Snodgrass - nil PL goals Fer - nil PL goals Jonas - 6 PL goals over 4 seasons Tettey - nil PL goals Olsson - 3 PL goals over 3 seasons Garrido - 2 PL goals over 3 seasons Turner - 5 PL goals over 5 seasons Bassong - 2 PL goals over 4 seasons Yobo - 8 goals over 8 PL seasons Whittaker - nil PL goals Becchio - nil PL goals Kamara - nil PL goals The clear sign here that I''m trying to demonstrate is that the players Hughton himself has bought in do not have ANY PLAYER that is proven to score goals in the Premier League. It was Hughtons call to bring all these players in, so he HAS to be held accountable that his squad simply is unable to score the goals necessary at this level. Its really not rocket science - if you do not sign players who have proved they are capable of scoring regularly in the PL, you are dicing with death. The fact Elmander, 4 years ago when younger, is by far and away the most experienced PL goalscorer we now have in our squad, says it all really. Why not Shane Long? Jelavic? Controversial perhaps, but Bent? Anichebe? And yet we still discard Holt (23 goals over past 2 PL seasons) and Hoolahan is suddenly deemed no good despite scoring 7 PL goals over the past 2 seasons from an advanced midfield role?! Crazy. Just crazy. Or more to the point, just plain stubborn (see Roeder vs Huckerby, circa 2008). And we brought in a non (ok low) scoring winger and centre back in jan. How the heck do we or anyone else for that matter think we are suddenly going to start scoring a hatful? What is going to change at present to make that work when weare pedalling out the same old predictable tactics week after week? nothing, that''s what! Sorry. Rant over.
