1. Having just read Purple Canary''s useful contribution, I''m wrong to call Worthy''s forward line weak. Huckerby and Svensson were class and he could add Bentley and Safri to the mix. Clearly, my memory is not what it was.   Worthy went into the Prem. with a more than decent outfit. They still failed. It is not going to be easy.   I still have more faith in our current squad.
 2. Worthington/Lambert   Two completely different managers with opposing approaches to the game. Worthington was defensive, Lambert is more attacking.   The former approached the Premiership with, IMO, a weakish forward line, as was proven by the upturn when Ashton was added to it. Doherty up front at Premier level? The mind boggles. PL''s front-line is far more potent, I would hope. I know which I prefer.   Helveg was a good player, mis-used a bit. Simon Charlton was decent as well, but as a replacement for Malky? No way. Charlton was a more than decent defensive utility player.   Jonson never settled.   From what I remember, Worthy got little blame for our instant Premiership demise at the time. Expectations were low. Miistakes were noted, however, yet most vitriole was aimed at the Board''s lack of ambition. Somebody enlighten me if I am incorrect about this. I see few games live so do not benefit from the Carrow Road murmurings.    The manager''s critics gathered after the Fulham disgrace and the momentum was intensified by our less than conspicious return to the Championship. Most expected us to be in the promotion mix and the subsequent mid-table performances led to a very intensive "Worthy out" campaign.   We cannot be too critical of Nigel, however. He was a decent manager who brought some welcome success to the Club. I know who I would prefer though. The fact that Worthington''s side missed out on survival by one point (?) is encouraging as I feel the Premiership is a bit weaker at the bottom end at the moment, with a lot of average side down there,  and I consider Paul Lambert''s squad stronger and more balanced. For these reasons, I am optimistic about survival.
 3. Be fair to the chap, he was complimentary and informed. I prefer decent debate with the Tractors, rather that mud-slinging. The klatter often deteriorates into a school playground situation.   Mr. ITFC4. Your comment about Jewell''s decling appeal to Town fans was interesting. Can you elaborate? For what it''s worth, here is my slightly biased opinion. I, personally, do not rate the Bowyer deal. His past exploits contradict your club''s image, he is 34 and well past his best, and he has probably negotiated a high wage. The whole thing seems a bit sell-your-soul desperate and he is clearly anticipating a pay-day.   Add Bullard, also well into his thirties, to the mix, as I believe Jewell and fans want, and you will have another.  Keiron Dwyer fancies joining the Club as well. The trend is unstoppable.   The Icelandic player you have acquired is 36 and Scotland is in his thirties.   Dad''s Army all over again? I feel "You''re doomed."
 4. I think we have enough mid-fielders now. Other areas need attention eg: goalkeeper, central defender and striker.   I state the latter because I can see neither Jackson nor Martin doing much against Premiership defences, unfortunatley. They do deserve a chance to prove this view wrong, however.
 5.

Out of interest are people thinking this is a risk because of the Leg break or because of his current level
I would say that 99% are concerned because of the injury. The other 1% is smudge, who is under the illusion that Pilkington is nowhere as good as Bennett.
Bearing in mind that he''s back in training it would appear that he has made a full recovery, so I really don''t see why 99% would be concerned.
Oh well! 98% then.   Being concerned is not the same as being against the signing, of course. I want him here simply because of the write-up. It would be a brilliant move if it comes off, based upon what I have read from mainly Huddersfield sources. My slight concern is about the injury. Sometimes players never fully recover their prior-to game.   It is not really possible to compare him unfavourably with what we have already, by stating that he is no better, as we are, to a man, probably completely ignorant as to this player''s attributes. Unless, of course, there is somebody out there who follows Huddersfield as well as Norwich.
 6.
"But ''asss lacker ambishun Neulll. They wotter foight toof n nayull for him. This is what Darncaster and Deaalyur would do. Little Old Huddersfield etc etc etc"...
Oh good golly gosh my good sir. can you not wroight in a languauge hus hupper class toffs would understand?   Please remember us exiles have a translation problem at times. Just joking. The Norfolk accent is great and  a pleasure to hear when I ocasionally visit and it is much better than the "mockney" that I have to listen to on a daily basis.   I retain a tinge of  the Norfolk myself and it comes out when I have had a few.   More to the point: I quite fancy this signing, having read such rave reviews about this player. Get him PL.
 7.
I''ve got a feeling he will end up at Huddersfield as part of Pilkington deal. No info or source just a hunch.
Quite possible, but I would prefer McNamee to be used. I think we could get more for Cody in the open market.   Who really cares just how many Cody threads there are?  Doesn''t bother me in the slightest and I see these complaints as nitpicking bollocks. Especially as there seems to be as many posts complaining about Cody threads as there are constructive comments about the fate of the player.   I think that he should be pretty high profile at the moment. His feats at Gillingham were outstanding and the dilemna about whether we should cash in or persevere is one of the major club issues at the moment. This thread is made all the more interesting due to the irony of the fact that it is Peterborough who are the club involved.    Don''t want to read about him, don''t click.

 9. Having seen him a few times, I would like him here and feel he would improve immensly given the chance.   Surely we can outbid Brighton and Hove Albion, we have more to offer an ambitious lower league player surely.   Fry seems to have messed this up for the player.
 10. My father took me as a youngster along with a box for me to stand on as we were always in the all-standing open to the elements, River End.   Later I remember us youngsters being passed over the heads of supporters and deposited at the very front near the barrier.   Getting older, I remember swaying with the crowd, backwards, forwards and sideways on big crowd days eg. the Sunderland cup game when Charlie Hurley scored the only goal for them.   No health and safety then, but nobody seemed to get hurt.   I remember too that as an innocent Norfolk lad, used only to the sedate and well-behaved Carrow Road crowd, I was amazed, frightened and disturbed by the over the top behaviour of the very large Sunderland contingent. Some even made their way into the rafters of the old South Stand. There was a menace that I had not encounted before. I do not think visiting fans were segregated in those days? Nowadays, it''s all rather a luxurious, anaesthetised affair, so don''t moan folks, imagine the olden days.
 11.
...but what would you rather happen, we pay them off like in the bad old days or we keep them for a few months and try and get a fee.  I know which route I prefer.
Me too, but the reality is that only Cody, Wilbraham and McNamee would command any sort of decent fee. I canot see the others having any value simply because it is so long since any of them have tasted first team action. The market is awash with unwanted players at the moment and the new squad limitations will add to this.   On the brighter side, there are 92 clubs, so hopefully these boys can be found a home somewhere. Free or not.   On the other hand, no player with a contract in his hand can be forced to move so they have the final say in any decision about a move. In this case, paying them of,f if they are intent upon staying put is the only answer, like it or not.
 12. I heard that as well and it may well be true. That was last season, however and I cannot see the player being successful in the Premiership. He  should have some value on the Market, so sell him and get him off the wages bill.   Incidentally, I have only seen him play live once, so my opinion is largely based upon second-hand  comments. When I saw him I was impressed by his effort and some of his touches, but his limitations were there to be seen.   A decent pro who is clearly a Lambert-type player. I cannot see him catching Fergie''s eye though. Sell him to Ips----. They need a replacement for Wickham and we could fleece them for £750, 000 as they are now rich.
 13.
As far as I am concerned we keep them all as thanks for last years hard slog. With £40 m plus the 3 m from Foulger plus the rise in ticket prices we can afford the extra wages. Getting rid of Malky and Iwan last time was a great mistake as the odd goal would have kept us up and whose to say that McNamee won''t come good given the chance or any of the others on the fringe given a chance. We need to show the same loyalty we ask of the players.
Cannot agree with much of that. Why waste money on the wages of these players? It is a scarce commodity in football these days, Premiership money or not. It might be lucrative being there but it is also an expensive league to play in due to wages demands and the sheer cost in the market of buying players of Premiership quality.   Furthermore, most of the players hitherto mentioned were not considered worthy of a Championship place so they are hardly likely to feature in the Premiership, especially as we are still after more signings which will likely push them further down the pecking order.   McNamee shows flashes, but we have better now. Cody should command a fair price after last season''s achievements. The rest will have to be unloaded on frees ASAP in my opinion. I did quite like Hughes at times, but how long is it since he has had a run at first team level now? Johnson is lively, but for a striker not exactly a goal machine. The rest have figured so infrequently that I know nothing about them. Wilbraham maybe, but Premiership? I ask you. Strange buy by Lambert really.   Agree with your opinion on Iwan and Malky, particularly the latter, and didn''t Worthy pay for those mistakes? These two had been regular first teamers, however, not never-used hang-ons.
 14.
We loved you Paul McVeigh, despite your lack of height, We loved you Paul McVeigh but now we think you''re sh?!e. We loved you Paul McVeigh, tilt the ball and you fall. Harsh but fair?
How silly!   I think that I am going to make a stand against some of the time-wasting, immature crap that continually infests this otherwise excellnt forum.   Here goes then:"Bugger off, idiot."   I realise taht there are a lot of youngsters who come on here and  I would be the last to deny them their right to do so. But, I ask you. That craparoni?
 15. Well studied.   Of all those, and it is a tasty bunch, my choice would be Matthew Upson even though I do not consider central defence as vitally in need of a bolster as the goalkeeping position is.   Would not want Foster back, but rather an older experienced head. Clueless who this might be though.    We should keep half an eye open for another striker too.   Give or take another addition, I have the feeling that Lambert is now quite prepared for the great adventure with what he has got. I think that he will now see how it goes and prepare himself for adjustments in the transfer window in the winter.   We do have a few players to unload now, mainly forwards eg. Johnson, Wilbraham and , dare I say it? Simeon Jackson. The latter was a disappointment for the most part of last season and most on here wanted him gone, perhaps as a makeweight in the now defunct M.Smith deal. For sure, with renewed confidence, and a goal or two he played well in a purple patch that belied his hitherto unconvincing performances. I do not see him as Premiership class.
 16. I wanted to see the reaction to losing Johnson and this resulted in nothing but compliments about the player.    After that, I was unable to resist clicking on this Woodgate link.   http://boards.footymad.net/forum.php?tno=323&fid=14&sty=2&act=1&mid=2117069915     I found it very amusing along with the banter that followed.   It belies the image we like to have of ALL Leeds followers
 17. Cody and MacNamee plus  £1.5m for Pilkington is too much.   I personally rate Cody at £750, 000 after last season*, and Macca at £250, 000.   £2.5m is too much for a lower league player not yet fully recovered from a serious injury.   * It would be interesting to see what we could get for him on the open market, particularly as I should think Championship sides would now be interested. Cody might not be Premiership class but, as a prolific goalscorer at a lower level he is a massive asset and his true worth should be realised. To me that means not using him as a makeweight in this particular deal.
 18. I have mixed feelings about this player ie. without that injury I would be quite happy to have him on board as it seems he has been somewhat of a star prior to it happening.   It would seem a bit risky as it is impossible to say how the injury will affect his future game and confidence. Sometimes players who break legs never reach their previous standards upon retun.  Also, his recovery is not as advanced as I at first thought.  http://www.htafc.com/page/NewsDetail/0,,10312~2382903,00.html   Just light training at the moment, nothing rigorous and the rider that if  there is any pain he will have to slow down.   On  the plus side, his attitude does seem to be first class and he appears to have no hang-ups about re-entering the fray.   If we go ahead with this signing, it will again be a matter of trusting PL and company, something I have no problem with. However, as things are at the moment, I cannot see the player being ready for the season''s opener.   I would prefer the premium to be lower, with the promise of the rest once the player has a certain amount of games under his belt, either reserve or first team. This will insure against his injury not fully repairing. We cannot expect Hudderfield to go short if his form does not reach previous levels. That is our risk.   He must be good, all this uncertainty yet we seem prepared to pay upto £2m for him.

.......I know a Peterborough fan who is very happy with what Fry has achieved. A few years ago I watched a testimonial match for him when Alex Ferguson brought a full-strength Man Utd team down to London Rd. I personally felt a little sorry for Fry - who had just undergone a hip replacement - as he hobbled onto the pitch to be presented to the teams. The reception he got was lukewarm to say the least......
He is a wide boy. He is not well-liked. My exact words were "A fan who is very happy with what Fry has achieveved.."   Is this deniable now?
I''m not quite sure exactly what you''re asking me to agree with here, BR, but being popular and not well liked is an unusual combination to say the least.......   I suppose we are talking about two different things here, the man''s personality as opposed to his achievements on Peterborough''s behalf.   Any how, I think we have both wasted enough time on the pros and cons of Barry Fry. Hopefully NCFC have no connection with him for a long time.
21. Quite true.   I know a Peterborough fan who is very happy with what Fry has achieved. Apparently he is popular at the Posh, and why not? They are now Championship, with a few players,  including CMS that are sought after by "bigger" clubs with cash. The well-being of Peterborogh Football Club has to be his single aim.   Fry''s diplomatic skills have always been questionable. He is a very self-confident individual (re: his spell at Birmingham) but that doesn''t excuse the unprofessioal approach that he has when dealing with other clubs, especially with transfer dealings. He very much reflects his origins, good or bad.   Would never want him at Norwich.
 22. I mentioned him in the fraser Forster post but is Korey Smith too far down the pecking order to be considered a defensive mf in the3 Premiership?
 23. Your mention of Korey Smith jolted my memory Cambridge. I  had completely forgotten about this little diamond, maybe because, as you say, Lambert was ruthless by discarding him last season. Strange how players so quickly disappear from the memory of even ardent supporters like myself, even though I only manage half a dozen games each season. I suppose this reflects the large scale player turn-over that virtually every club has these days.  No more Bryan Thurlows that''s for sure. Even Drury has become exceptional for his longevity.   I personally feel that Korey is too good to disappear from the scene, but if PL didn''t play him much in the Championship, then what hope a place in the Premiership team for him?   What prospects then? Loan him out to enable him to develop more or sell him for say £500.000 or therabouts?
 24.
Copy and paste.
Actually, cut does the same, although I do usually "copy."
