1. At least we are matching Everton in all but a goal. I hope that the second half doesn''t embarrass us now we have to chase the game. Holt looks fit and up for it and Snodgrass looks dangerous. If we could have that threat down the left as well we could get something from this.
2. I suspect that CH''s plan was to score early and withdraw a striker reverting to our usual formation with Wes moving in behind. Not an option now imo.
3. It''s not his fault as Pilkington should be in that position. Best players in their best positions please!
4. I am pleased to see a home selection but worry that a simple 442 may leave us light on Wes''s side. Let''s hope that this resembles a less predictable system with Holt maybe providing extra cover if not the diamond. Can''t moan though as I for one was wanting to freshen things up. Typical that boredom gets replaced by anxiety!
5.
There are quite a few on here who are apparently suffering various ailments, from binnitus to the clap (the happy variety, that is). Wiz is a character, like him or not - and most of us are just boring - so I''d rather he was on here than not on here. As for his apparent traitorous musings on other fans sites - could he not just be winding them up like he does us?
Agreed. I post on another site but read this one regularly. I like it when he visits our forum. The Pink Un is better for having disparate views. Too much consensus can be boring and bullying when another opinion expresses itself as strongly as Wiz can.
6.
Well, judging by the bit where you say "Great performance tonight. I''m very proud after our recent no shows..."and then the bit where you say " the last 20 minutes tonight we looked like a sunday league team hanging on for our lives.... we should have won tonight end of. We have to many players who don''t believe in themselves and show too much respect." I don''t think you''re wrong - I think you''re schizophrenic.
Silly comment.Let''s improve the quality of all of our posts. We were hanging on in the last 20 mins against a top 6 side and yet the rest of the game we were superb.
7. Bassong, Bunn and Johnson by a mile. Winner...Bassong.
8. Forget Hooper. We play at a different level to the SPL and do not need to overplay our hand to buy him.
9. What a good letter! Many English clubs could learn from that quality of communication. This is a clever transaction for all concerned.
10. This could work if it points to money being spent elsewhere. If Moro, Jacko and C Martin leaveand Kane goes home as they should then 3 will be needed to replace them.
11.
NorwichCityFC on twitter have sated that there will be breaking transfer news at 1630...presumably Kei, but who knows...?
Probably Becchio / Moro deal. I would be better fro morale to announce that before the team sheet comes out.
12.
Grow up, any signing is better then none
Really? What a desperate view.
13. I have it on good authority that Morison is the club leek.
14. "judderman" I don''t want that racist tw@t anywhere near this football club. and he''s mental.
15. That''s a tad sensitive Nigel as from my post count you can hopefully see that controlling the board is not a priority.A simple lol response and the dismissive tone of follow up posts are disappointing as the original point about horses for courses was valid but ignored. Anyway I agree with you that "good post and I agree" get us nowhere but the OP had made an effort to make a point that was a bit lost in the heckling.
16.
I think Hughton should be a bit radical and make a few changes for the game on Saturday - just to freshen things up as much as anything..RuddyR Martin R Bennett Bassong GarridoTettey FoxE Bennett Butterfield PilkingtonHoltSubs - Bunn, Barnett, Howson, Johnson, Snodgrass, Hoolahan, Morison
I agree apart from Barnett for Bennett. Creativity and threat as well as defending our suspect defence. Please no more 4-4-2!
17. It''s a shame that the OP''s effort to post a reasonable view about matching like with like has been brought down to the usual polarized put downs of anyone unhappy with how this season is panning out. I too had some concerns about this appointment as I didn''t believe that it necessarily played to our strengths and worried that a major overhaul would be required to make the square peg of Hughton fit the round hole of a very attacking squad. That''s a perfectly acceptable viewpoint. I don''t agree that we should make a u turn now it''s not working and certainly would not employ Holloway. I believe that we must give Hughton everything he needs to make this work including strong pressure from the board to make it happen. However it''s neither naive nor disloyal to have doubts about the appt. of Hughton. Those who believe that it is either of these things are frankly ignoring the current situation and I suspect are being competitively loyal.
18. We have always looked better when Fox plays imo but even he needs someone to distribute to and to create with. Playing two up front and two defensive mids limits the available choices. We need Tetty and Fox in central midfield with Bennet and Pilks either side with Hoolahan/Butterfield/Howson behind Holt. Hoolahan would be my pick as I have not seen Butterfield as yet. This leaves Snodgrass,Surman,Butterfield. Morison,Jackson etc to come on. Also lets play square pegs in square holes as Surman, Snodgrass and Howson are all playing out of position imo. Why we play defensively when this aspect of our play is so clearly our weak point baffles me.
19. I expect Liverpool to be nervous as they are a bigger club with understandably inpatient fans who won''t give the Rodgers experiment the time it requires. Hopefully we have realistic expectations of our team at this early stage of the season. We should have made more of our chances so far but that doesn''t mean that we treat Liverpool as a must win game. Not nervous , just excited at the possibility of beating a big club but won''t panic if we don''t.
20. I think that you are right Jacko but in shoring up the defensive play we have lost any bite up front. The squad is good enough but the tactics are too blunt.
21. Had we converted any of our limited attacking chances in the 4 earlier games I would agree as we looked on a par with Newcastle today. However we could have played until next Saturday waiting for a goal. I understand the temptation towards positivity but it is starting to look like blind faith. We just look a bit fuffy.
22. I would like to see a similar side to the Spurs game but would love to see Butterfield, Tetty and Kane on the bench. Hopefully they "could improve on what we have" if anyone is below par.
