1.
Loss blamed on The Doc - Check. Loss blamed on Chris Brown - Check. Posters competing with each other to show who''s the most outraged - Check. Posters slagged off for finding bright points in our display - Check. Overall mood slightly less cheerful than Daily Mail letters page - Check, although points deducted for lack of comments regarding asylum seekers/travellers/Gordon Brown/Guardianistas. Protest planned - Not yet, I give it till lunch time. Well done everybody.
And i would say everyone of them justified at the moment so i dont really see the point in this thread. FACT- average team being out played on a weekly bases managed by a very questinable manager not being supported by a very weak board.......dont think the stats lie do you?
 2. I think we have to ask some serious questions now. If we look at the season so far [and most of last] we have been scond best all over the field apart from the Cardiff game and we even managed to lose that. Im not one for shooting down people new to a job [Believe it or not i had faith in the board for a few years] but PGs tactics on a hole seem to be very questionable. To drop Curo, continued faith in docherty, his man-mananger skills [poor crofty nearly had his head torn off for dearing to drift out of position against Palace] lack of CB signings [im not sure if its that hard to get a better one than those available] the fact PG said he would never play players out of position. Many people had big expectations in his [average imo] signings such as Brellier and big Dave but its not happening. Im not sure how long PG should get to turn things around but we will have to ask ourselves sooner rather than later if this man is right for the job and if that time comes will the board have the bottle to do something about it before its to late unlike the Worthy scenario?
 3.
Arthur, If you want to make your stand as you put it and feel so strongly about our current board, then either protest, write to Delia, write to the board or find another investor that you''re happy with, surely thats going to be more productive then continually whinging on here. P.S. I dont think your avatar taking the piss out of Delia on a Norwich City fans forum, helps your cause one little bit!
Did you protest against Chase? I have sent letters to the current board. My opinions on this board are imo as valid as anyones so to accuse me of constant whingeing is just your opinion. Personally i believe Delia is taking the pee out of us so again my avatar doesnt really faze me,it seems it only bothers the ones who cant get enough of somebody who has taken our club as far as she can so now goes about dumbing down expectations in supporters to make it out that they are doing a wonderful job in ohhhhhh so differcult circumstances.. Ps- i fail to see how my Avatar is going to change peoples attitudes towards Delia.
 4.
Having not been to Delia''s restaurant for a while, I notice the prices are similar to my last visit and to be honest not much more than a similar dinner at other places in the city the club would regard as its main competition. The food we had was great, plenty of it and a good atmosphere, we chatted to fellow diners and although they were not all football fans it''s a good enough place for a celebration, birthday, anniversary etc. So what''s wrong with that? So why then is it necessary to knock it? I really feel the poor woman has put her heart and soul into creating something lasting for the club and all some people can do is knock her at every step. It''s just the English way so it seems, to knock someone when they achieve something. I do wonder why she bothers sometimes.
I wonder why she bothered bearing in mind we''re stuck in a league competeing against the Mighty Col U and Blackpool!
Maybe he feels happier on here if he has his blue and white scarf for company [:D]
Maybe city angel, you would be happy on here with a photo of you in a t-shirt saying "im oh so gullable"?
If I did I''d at least spell it right its '''' gullible '''' which means easily tricked or fooled, so explain to me Arthur who has tricked or fooled me? I bought my season ticket because I love supporting my team and that includes the highs and lows and always will. I dont stop going when the going gets tough.
Did you protest against Chase? Thanks for the school lessen by the way.
Thats ok Arthur, I like to help and its lesson not lessen. Can''t see the relevence of what protesting against Chase has got to do with your avatar picture which I find very disapointing.
Look CA please dont patronise me its getting rather stupid, lets talk football. My point about the chase question is this- My stand on Delia has come to a point where imo we are going nowhere fast rather like the Chase days although not to the same degree. Now ive followed the team through thick and thin but when things go wrong im the kind that will make my voice heard.  So what makes me so different to all those that protested against Chase? Why am i so detested for making my stand when we are clearly no better off now than under fat man? Am i any different to the likes of you [if you did protest against him?] for making my stand?
Idiotic comments what like people taking the pee out of my spelling [but i forgot there are people on here who enjoy coming across as oh so educated rather than talk football] and accusing me of being a binner! Silly me i forgot it only counts if it doesnt match YOUR opinion which is rude in its own right. As for the Avatar, You find it offencesive but i dont mate and many others no doubt so get over it and ignore my threads.....Simple really Toodle pip
MY opinion being rude?!?! Well you''re a fine one to talk aren''t you, especially after certain comments that you''ve made in the ''When Hucks Retires'' thread. I just think that you are a complete and utter disgrace on this board for that avatar pic, I don''t care if other posters don''t share the same opinion as me. And don''t ask me to explain as to why I think it offensive because, although I''m not exactly her biggest fan myself, you have gone way too OTT with that pic.
You need to lighten up sonny. Explain how im sooooo bloody rude when its the likes of you and City Angel starting all the petty name calling? If you cant take it dont give it. End of Case closed......next
 7.   Whos moderating? Are you? Sounds that way Mc Perm. Difference of opinion with city angel, why stick your snout in? Im sure she can speak for herself.
 8. Dear oh dear Mcdumbles perm. Oh i forgot, your in charge round here! As its been pointed out to me by YOU and others on numerous occasions everyone has the right to what they want to say. Mine is a reaction to city angels comments, yours is another kiddie attempt to make me out to be the one in the wrong. Take your head out of your ar#e mate!
 9.
He has a contract to the end of this season and has said he''ll review his situation then. But he has dropped several hints that this could be his last as he doesnt want to play when he''s lost some of his pace and he doesnt want to finish his career at any other club. So lets bank on this being his last and anything extra will be a bonus [:D]   Maybe we could present him with a small trophy from all us pinkun posters and get someone who loves him to present it to him at his last game [:D]
Jesus christ! Hes a damn fine player love but hes only been here 4 years! Hardly merits the status you are trying to give him. Bar the promotion season hes been part of an under performing club. Players come and go-its life darling.
 10.
The budget is too low because the prices are too high. Simple one to answer that......Next
Aaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrgggggggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhh ..........sorry but i lets all i can say on this matter apart from its so bloody frustrating....but not half as frustrating as listening to people except it as if its totally bloody exceptable!!
 11.

Thats why they consistantly beat us, with irritating regularity, and finish above us in the league. To the eternal shame of the board, management and players of Norwich city football club.
2002 - 03 : Norwich 8th, Ipswich 7th Ipswich 1 - 1 Norwich Norwich 0 - 2 Ipswich 2003 - 04 : Norwich 1st, Ipswich 5th Ipswich 0 - 2 Norwich Norwich 3 - 1 Ipswich 2004 - 5 : Norwich 18th (Prem), Ipswich 3rd (champs) 2005 - 06 :  Norwich 9th, Ipswich 15th. Ipswich 0 - 1 Norwich Norwich 1 - 2 Ipswich 2006 - 07 : Norwich 16th, Ipswich 14th Ipswich 3 - 1 Norwich Norwich 1 - 1 Ipswich Over the last 5 years you could argue it''s 2-2 on league position.  But I''d call it 3-2.  On matches, I make it 3-3.  Doesn''t sound like they consistently beat us though.
These are games played over 90mins so you really have to look at the end of season positions to judge who the better team are, just like cup games, Man utd getting beaten by Sothend. But we are better than Ipswich in all aspects of life!
 12.

OK I bet, whatever the Norwich city board do for the rest of the season.... every single decision that they make will be condemed as being wrong, regardless of what that decision is.
Other than resigning.
Including resigning (should it happen).  Including giving Grant a billion pound transfer budget in Januray (should it happen). Including registering Doncaster as a player and him scoring 5 goals a match for the rest of the season (should it happen). Every decision. I also bet that if we signed Robnaldinho or Kaka (or any other player) they would be written off a rubbish by some posters who would then accuse anyone that thought they were OK of being deluded or taken in by the spin.
If we signed Ronaldinho or Kaka the moaners would be complaining that by paying large amounts of money the board are gambling the future of the club by putting it in financial trouble by paying the wages and transfer fees (imagine how much Ronaldinho''s agent is on!) but if we don''t they''ll complain that the board are not showing ambition...
Sorry but thats just your opinion, personally if the board shows us they mean buiseness in getting us to the prem i wouldnt be having this arguement now but they dont and instead spin us with such fruitless puns like ''Prudence with Ambition''.......which is working wonders isnt it!! Plod along and watch the rest take over us or give a bloody good go? i know what i would rather.
 13.

My point was not that one game makes a season but that really now we are no longer sure or confident of good home results it makes little groups of away game like Charlton followed by Wolves a very daunting prospect. I have little faith in our ability to win away full stop let alone against powerful big teams like those two. As somebody already said Palace are also a big powerful team and a home win is by no means a nailed on formality. We are therefore staring down the barrel of a gun that has 3 losses written all over it. Negative I here you say. You damn right I''m negative. I see it with my own eyes week in week out and I am not at all impressed.
Sounds to me like you have a little Norwich complex.  Palace aren''t exactly firing on all 4 cylinders either.  If Ipswich can beat Palace 1-0 at home, why can''t we ?  Charlton and Wolves will be tough games, agreed, we will have a better idea of how competitive the team is against likely play-opff contenders after these games.  But you can''t write off the season on the basis of 1, 2 or even 3 games.
My mind boggles! Accusing somebody of small time norwich mentality when he clearly thinks we should be stuffing teams like Palace on a weekly bases is somewhat rich coming from someone who would be pleased with a draw!
 14.

Various people on this site have suggested that i blame the board for the state of affairs no matter if its on the pitch or otherwise. My question is...Where does the buck stop? We now have 4 very tough games coming up [Palace,Wolves,Charlton and Man City] And if things go the wrong way we could be in serious poo even at an early stage [yes i know things may not pan out like this and its all hypothetical].  Anyway back to my point, we have imo under achieved the last few seasons and not progressed one bit under Smith and Co, so who do we blame? Am i wrong in saying the ones at the top take the blame?  I realise there are alot of factors involved in this and most people have gave an opinion in what they think is why we have become average club but i still struggle to understand why various posters are told [yes im one] that all they ever do is knock the board. We ARE a great club with GREAT supporters [read the official attendance league at the end of every season]. So wheres it gone wrong and who do you blame? Regards Moaning old bugger AW!
As a visitor some of you seem so terribly gloomy!  I could understand it if you are struggling in the relegation zone in January but nothing''s happened yet.  It''s like that bloke in Dad''s Army....we''re all doomed.  Well, we may be but it''s early days yet (and he was mostly wrong anyway but sort of seemed to enjoy it).  I''m really looking forward to Colchester''s season.  We don''t have your support, facilities or money but our next four are (H) Charlton (A) Southampton (A) Blackpool (H) Scunthorpe and I''m really looking forward to it.  I''m expecting us to get points out of those - I am not assuming we are going to be beaten in all four.  If we are I shall expect our great Manager (and, yes, I do think he''s great but like yours allegedly has little or no experience) to try and do something about it.  No one has tonked you yet to say that you are the "Derby County" of the Championship - you''ve lost by the odd goal.  Well, that happens, and this is a tough League.  Personally I do not expect anyone to run away with it and I think any team is capable of beating any other team in this division. But even if you (and Colchester) lose all four that''s not serious poo.  It''s a problem to be dealt with, yes, but if either of us then have a run of five games without losing (two wins and three draws if you don''t want to be too optimistic) someone else takes their place in it usually.  It''s fair enough to moan, of course, but at this stage of the season it seems rather pointless to me and if in any form or another it conveys itself big time to the players I can''t see it will help them one little bit.  I am fully expecting us to beat Charlton.  I''m not frightened of them or any team in this League (including your lot) and I don''t think you should be frightened of who you are playing either. Why don''t you just give them a chance - say, to Christmas if you like - and see where you are then? PS: If you don''t want your "millionaire" backers would you be kind enough to send them on to us? I can see it now: The Cuckoo Farm Cook Book. And yes, as it happens, I do think you *could* be a "Moaning old bugger" and that''s written by someone in proud possession of a Bus Pass.  Alas, the only bus runs once a fortnight on a Friday.
No disrespect to Col U and your fans mate but may i suggest the expectations are somewhat less at Layer Rd and your already punching above your weight? Maybe thats why we see things a lttle different.
 15.

As your so clued up i imagine you understand that  i was making a point of  the fact people have different opinions on who to blame for our poor few seasons. So instead of nit picking my post maybe you could be a little more productive and give me your opinion as to who to blame?
Arthur why do you want to blame someone? Is there always someone to blame? I think you need to look inside yourself and see that your self loathing is manifestering itself in this way, let it go and try to enjoy life else you''ll make yourself ill.
Maybe, just maybe because im passionate about our club and i hate, and this is my opinion, being taken for a mug! Carry on mate, enjoy your season, that is of course your entitlement, but i see it different mate...remember people got arrested ousting Chase, at least i vent my anger on a MB.
 16.

Surely if those who run the club have to rely on selling players to turn a decent profit even when raking in £7million parachute payments, that is even more reason to question their judgement and competence?
Are you saying that you''d like to see a smaller players'' wage bill, to allow the club to improve their profits ?  Maybe less money spent on agents fees ?  I mean, Dean Ashton cost us a lot of money, you wouldn''t want to see the likes of him here again I guess ? Seems to me you want it both ways Mr Carrow.  Football isn''t a regular business, it''s a money-pit, if you weren''t trying to make a point, you would agree with that I''m sure.
Its the board who want it both ways Blah. The last wage bill for the football side we know about was £9million and a large chunk of it was covered by the £3million profit on player sales. Thats out of a turnover of £24.7million. As for agents fees, in the year when we had the highest in our division they only amounted to £300k and are now paid out of the players signing-on fee. In the grand scheme of things they are irrelevent. I have said time and again the bonus Prem/Ashton/Francis money has been spent-but not on the "football side". In that year £6.5million was spent on non-football wages and £3.9million on infrastructure costs. The football team was run extremely cheaply when compared to turnover and we all know the result.
There is agerm of a good post here but it seems what is missing is more important than what is in here. I assume these figures are the first Champioship season so this year we have lost the parachute payments and are heading for a £4m loss? How does the £9 compare with other teams wage bills? What proportion of turnover is directly football related and how much is from the off the field activity so many find so offensive? And finally what do you think the Prem/Ashton/Francis money was spent on?
Yes, the last accounts cover the first season back down, but the next ones will cover the period the club received the second £7million parachute payment so should be interesting. And yes i suppose the club will be heading for a big loss if they don`t trim back that ridiculous non-football wage bill and are still blowing millions on such "vital" things as a new ticket office, offices to rent out, a "spaces for sport" facility, etc.,etc. People really should try to get it into their heads that the off-pitch stuff COSTS alot of money to start up and run-it doesn`t just magically make the club millions from nothing. In fact, there is no guarantee it will make the club anything-it`s a gamble,a bit like ooooh lets say spending good money on top young talent in the hope of making millions through success on the pitch (promotion) or making a big sell-on profit (Ashton,Francis,Mckenzie....etc). Simply put, since relegation the club have been happy to gamble its bonus cash on off-pitch stuff but not on the pitch. And (suprise, suprise) we find ourselves in the situation of being in fantastic shape in every way except that woeful team on the pitch. There are already gaps appearing on matchdays in the new corner infill. £4million well spent?? As far as the player wages go £9million would be a pretty high figure for our league but more importantly as a percentage of turnover it is, from what i have read, much lower than average.
Excellent comments, The point about the facilties in comparison to on field performances certainly touches a raw nerve with me....but hey, a lovely pie and a nice glass of vino and slap up after the game at CR is whats its all about these days! Oh and if you get a little, lets saay ''LETS BE AVIN YOU'' you wont have to worry about a cab because we can all book a room in the lovely concrete block just beside the Barcley!!
 17.
And get in Fitz Hall despite the competition? I mean, are they prepared to really go for him and start to turn a probably modest season into one with real possibilities of a good top six finish? I doubt it very much. They seem to have lost what little spunk they once had. Shhhh......shhhh! Remember Huckerby, Crouch, Harper? Well, we need the fix in central defence and central midfield this time!!! But, but, but ........... isn''t that what they''re there for? Shhh......shhhhh........maybe not. Anybody want a bet on this? OTBC
Not a chance, PG has already stated finances being the stumbling block so my bets on the mighty Hull or Coventry. All these fees for loan players plus wagers ect ect....Its all changed these days...or so we''re led to believe!

 20.

Just an observation, nothing more sinister than that, but is Doherty now ''untouchable'' in terms of being dropped?. I''m hoping Murry will play at CH when he''s fully fit, do you?. This is the one area of the team which concerns me most, I back and support Peter Grant but I do wish this position was cleared up and made more secure, the Doc, although his heart is in the right place, his feet and head (and his arms!) aren''t always at times!. If Peter leaves it as it is, I fear for him long term, I really do.
Couldnt agree more Wiz but like i have said in previous posts, imo i believe this position was top of PGs list until certain unforseen departures and now the kitty has been spent in what PG sees as priorities. We''ve clearly done our shopping and its now a hope that Grants average signings can gel and produce the goods. I am in no way blaming PG for this as i believe many factors are to blame in why he had to sign players all over the field...And yes its mainly down to the board.
Come on Arthur you dont blame Grant for his average signings, who do you blame, they are his targets and he was hired as a yes man, which he seems to be doing very nicely. Our board proved lack of ambition the day they appointed him imo.
Ricky i see what your getting at but im giving PG a few more games. I believe its still a lttle early to start calling for heads to roll and i dont think it will benifit the club in the main just yet. I gave the current powers that be plenty of time and they havent cut the mustard imo hence the strong oppisition towards them. I must admit though im beggining to have some very grave concerns with regards to PGs managerial skills on a hole and his Man management skills seem to be non excistent but a little more time and we''ll be able to make a better judgement.....unlike the board who have had plenty long imo. Regards
 21.
God, this thread is confusing, what with arfur whittle and arfur witter  [:P] I think arthur(whittle), simply to blame the board (again) is your stock answer to everything re. NCFC. If you read Waghorn http://norwichcity.myfootballwriter.com/full_article.asp?i=1628 you start to understand the difficulty in finding the right CB for the right money. If his guestimates are anywhere near being realistic (loan fees + wages) then I don''t think PG would be wise to take this course. So arthur (whittle) if you were manager, which CB would you have bought in the transfer window for £1/1.5m and on realistic wages ?
We''ve managed to sign average players all over the pitch for alot less than 1.5m so i cant see why it would be so hard to get a decent CB for such amount,N,Gotty at Leicster, Sodje and Duberry at Reading to name a couple or three. The point is i dont believe for one minute we have such funds now for this position. Maybe PG was bought in as a yes man as Ricky stated but we''ve got to give him some time to do what he can with tied hands. The board have failed over seasons to invest in young promising players and proven quality to progress the club and the likes of Worthy was allowed to deal in poor quality for ridiculous amounts [Doc for 1m??] It seems that the same scenario is panning out before us with the exception of Marshall and Curo but they cost decent money and it shows, even though the money came from selling the crown jewells.

 23.
If I were Peter Grant, this is what I would be saying to my players. The season begins on Saturday 15th September 2007 against Palace. So, we start the season against a bogey side, have three very tough games in a row and a 3rd round cup draw against a Premiership Team. It''s a tough start but not nearly as tough as a desperate period after underacheivement in easier games. Players are now more integrated and match fit, others are finally back, the squad is larger and more balanced. There has been a two week break and it is no good dwelling on the Cardiff result, the Hull result and other shortcomings. It has been a time to re-group, re-assess and look forwards. To carry baggage into the next few games would hamper our team who need a minimum of 5 points to feel they are competing. Supporters need to have the same attitude. I dislike the late summer day games with their artificial atmosphere and teams in flux and always look forwards to September. (The exception being night games of which there should be more early on). Let''s make the break work for us and start afresh  like it is the beginning of a new season. It all starts on Saturday; it''s time we beat Palace properly and we need to go there with opening day optimism and anticipation to lift the players.
Oh i know we''ll start the season again.....and again and again and again and............how long will some of you supporters let our club be ruined by the underachieving board who now jack about football?
 24.

P.S. What makes you think ive got no support anyway? Because a few people on a messgae bo9ard disagree with me? Well what about the letters of support in the evening news?
Not really a representative sample, is it Arthur? We have brought in 10 players this year which shows that efforts are being made around team building. I am sure that this figure would be higher if it was possible, if only to shut you up. It can''t be fun to face this level of criticism and that similar to Mello''s spectacularly dumb post above. NCFC is a public company which opens it up to public scrutiny and if you wished you could buy a share. So there is no secrecy around where the money has gone or what the board take out of it. There is commercial confidentiallity around the deals and business in any financial year. The club however could sell up to foreign interests like the Serbian madman at Hearts who could take it private. Then it would be secret and you would have even less say than you do now. Is that what you want? Because quite frankly I don''t understand what you suggest the alternative is.
I''m ecstatic you found it spectacular.......BigFlush.  I also suspect there''s more to your questioning Uncle Arthur''s letters to the EEN etc. In fact, I think that you are connected to the club......in some capacity......allegedly......maybe.......probably.......supposedly.[8-|][<:o)]
Mello, I was coming to exactly the same conclusion.  It''s the lack of any discernible interest in the beautiful game that gives it away.
No, not connected to the club but a footy supporter who is tired of the uneneding whittering about off the the field activity by the ill-informed who use supposition rather than facts.
And a football fan who clearly doesnt give two hoots about the quality of football being played, but then again the spin merchants have dumbed down any expectations of us playing prem football and its paying off handsomely!
 25.

And it seems the board are starting to reap the benifits of constantly playing down the potential of Norwich with your comment mate, the first line says it all!
Arthur - what potential? The ground is already full so that would need expanding to increase gate receipts (unless the board ramp up ticket prices) and the board would get crucified for spending on bricks and mortar. What you see is what you get with the team and the coffers are empty. Now you may question how we got here, but in terms of potential. Dream on! What might just work though if we got behind the team team, got a bit of luck and with committment from the players we might just do something! OTBC
Bigfish, I think Arthur was referring to FOOTBALL potential - you know, that game where 22 grown men run after an inflated pig''s bladder . . . Any comments on my reply to your previous post?  Thought not . . .
Do you really think that Arthur was talking about football potential. Unbelievable [:O]. Why blame the board then? I know, I know, they put up up the cash to make things happen and with 10 players coming in you can''t say the effort hasn''t been put in. Should they put more cash in, risk the club for the chance to speculate to accumulate?. Football is fickle, they could have splashed the cash and as we have seen with Smith get nothing back.
Three seasons in the past six years either in a playoff final, promoted or in the Prem are, by definition, not "exception seasons".
I thought I did answer this point relatively coherently, but obviously not clear enough for you. You only chose the last six years conviently avoiding the barren period since we dropped out of the Prem the first time - so one succesful season and one near miss out of 12 are really the exception rather than the rule.
Well yes i was actually. Eveything is in place apart from the investment into the football TEAM. Its not bloody rocket science, go down to CR on a sat and see all the wonderful facilitys and full stadia and then walk away p@?!ed off at yet anougher average performance!
