  1. I''m not going to criticize Leon, even though the emotions are there. He did well for the club for three years, regardless of his ability, and no-one knows the "personal" reasons why he felt he needed to leave. One million is a generous pay day and even though we didn''t re-invest it it''ll still be there come January. Good luck to him and no bad feelings whatsoever.
  2. Why are so many people treating this like the end of the world! So, we didn''t get anyone in and Leon left....big deal. It wasn''t so long ago when most people were calling for the youngsters to have a shot, well, now they have the chance whether we like it or not. January isn''t so far away and the club can take stock and go again. Loans will probably come in after a week or so, to provide cover, now that Prem clubs know who they have. Personally I applaud Doncaster, who needn''t have let anyone know what happened, for his openness. Let''s take what we got, get behind the team , and carry on till January.
  3. I would have a lot more respect for Francis if he came out with a statement HIMSELF. With so much confusion, speculation and accusation surrounding him I would have expected him to address it publicly by now. Instead, we get this cowardly statement through his agent.
  4. Splendid Rush.....I presume your 2nd line-up was designed to suggest something, but it doesn''t fill me with confidence! Push Jarrett into the 1st team once Fancis leaves, clear McVeigh and put a question mark next to Green. Not the cover to srike fear into teams..........
  5. Sorry to appear pessimistic, but our team is not VERY good at the moment.  The fact our squad is painfully short of cover worries me, but hopefully this will be addressed soon. At present, I would be very surprised if we were challenging for a top two spot come the end of the season, unless several quality players are added. The only area I''m confident in is our forwards, clearly there will be goals a plenty from the usual suspects. However, with Francis seemingly moving on soon, the midfield looks bare. Will Jonson perform this season? Can Huckerby learn to cover the defence? Who will play on the right? How long will Safri be unavailable over the season? Will Jarrett be the next Francis? Will McVeigh be here at all? Will we be relying on Hendo, playing out of position, for numerous games? For the moment, I have too many concerns. I''m less worried about the defence, despite conceding so many goals last season, this is not the Prem and we won''t be up against the same class. But it still lacks cover on the right and someone in the middle to call the shots (like Malky). Apologies for the negative theme, but we really do need to delve into the market.
  6. This thread has been most amusing! I really enjoy when Wiz posts his usual controversial comments and sits back for everyone to bite. I''m not entirely sure if he really believes what he says and just does it to cause frustration and enjoyment in equal measure. Whatever, it keeps this board interesting.
  7. I think this is a tough one for Worthy and the Board. While I, like many other posters, would not miss Francis, any transfer fee must reflect his true value. Is Francis only worth this? I seem to remember figures of 2.5-4 million being spoken of not so long ago. Letting him go at a cut down price will free up funds for several players, mentioned on this board, but is it good business in the long run? Do we really know if he wants out anyway? Has Charlton''s interest cooled?Hmmmmm......I''m undecided. Glad I don''t have to make the decisions^^.
  8. I''ll be sorry to see Matty leave. He was never a prolific scorer, but always popped up with useful goals. Could have done a job for us next season to be sure. Gotta hope that we get someone to replace him, whose young and has potential......best of luck to him.
  9. Take it easy CJ!!!! Fleming may have had a bad season, looking totally out of his league, but to suggest he be placed in his group is a little harsh. He still has a lot to offer, especially now we''re back in the championship, and I wouldn''t be surprised if he still stakes a regular place in the team. Just waiting to see which other players, who didn''t have a great last season, find themselves in this list. Would bet that someone out there will suggest Holt, too!
  10. Have to agree. While it''s a shame that someone of his ability might be leaving the club, it''s pointless to keep him if he doesn''t want to play. I wish he would come out and say to the fans what''s on his mind, does he want to be be here or not? Just hope this transfer speculation doesn''t drag on all summer, so that Worthy knows what his options are with plenty of time to find replacement(s).
  11. Good.........seems simple to me, sell him for as much as possible and put all the funds into buying players who want to be here.
  12. What''s the reation to this? I don''t have any idea how good he is....It''s been news for a few days and the lack of interest doesn''t give me much to be excited about........Someone must have an idea about him.
  13. Great news for the club and the player. Shackell looks like a good prospect and hopefully will get a few games this season to help his development. However, hoping that Worthy will bring in an experienced defender......what does anyone know of this Laursen guy from Celtic?
  14. I can''t get excited about this one. While I see the need to improve the size of the squad to cover injuries, suspensions etc...surely we should be looking to bring in players as good, or better, than we have already. If he''s just been released from a club in a lower division, what can he offer us? It seems that Worthy may be playing it a bit too careful in the transfer market. If Thirwell does come, I hope he''s good enough to push Francis and Holt for a place, rather than just playing in the reserves.
