1. To be honest I don''t think it makes any difference whether he has played the game at any level. And thinking about it they have other people on to be "experts". The main reason I asked was because I don''t know anything about him. So if he doesn''t have a football background is he a jouro perhaps?
 2.

If the same eleven who were up for it both mentally & physically that started against Man Utd had been fielded against Leicester we would''ve romped into the QF''s - no ifs or buts - the argument of players being rested is a futile one. It was a chance of achieving something the club has never achieved before and potential European qualification squandered. It was Lambert''s first major mistake - end of debate.
I agree with your first two points Shyster. And as this was probably our best chance of winning the FA Cup for 20 years I''m wondering if I''ll ever see us win it. If we go another 20 years I will be in my "7&6 was she worth it" 76th year and probably too much of a miserable old git to enjoy it. I''m also not afraid of European qualification. Just a couple of years ago the cry was about lack of ambition. Now it seems many of the "ambitious" have lost their ambition. Last season at this time we werfe seeing posts about not wanting to be promoted to the Premier League because it was too early! But it''s a big call to say all this was the managers first major mistake. He needed to rest Holt. Circumstances have made it neccessary for Holty to play a lot of football over the last month. Probably more than was ideal. I have little doubt that we''d have won that cup game with Holt. He is more valuable to us than just his own performance on the pitch. It may not have been a mistake to rest him.

Best chance of winning the FA Cup for 20 years my arse....... We didn''t enter it until the 3rd Round and got knocked out in the 5th.... hardly a run of successful results. Just more bilge from our illustrious toilet cleaner.
Can''t see how what I do for a living affects anything but to bring this back on topic...   The reason I view it as our best chance for 20 years is because had we have beaten Leicester we would have been in a quarter final draw with only three better sides than us left. If you think we''ve had a better chance in the last 20 years maybe you can share it with the rest of us.   Your style of debate is making you look a bit of a tit.   But then.....
 3. Shrewd as ever Yankee. To get anything out of yesterday''s game we were always going to have to stop Man Utd before we could assert our own game. playing "after you sir" football would have resulted in certain defeat.   "Let ''em know you''re there son"[;)]

 5.

Didn''t bother watching him much today though. There were some huge performances in the Norwich team. And Holts goal was sheer class.
Rather odd comment that Nutty You watch the game that gets played in front of you don''t you? There have been plenty of comments about Scholes (not just on here. Craig Fleming called him the best midfielder in England which I thought was way over the top) which prompted my original question. Holty''s goal was a peach.
I am rather odd Shack.   Scholes first touch always takes the ball away from the opposition around him. It gives the appearance that Scholes has been given space when the reality is that he created that space himself.   I''d agree with Flem.
 6. They''re nice words buddy but doing this is never a chore. You PUPs support me all the time. And not just financially. Whilst you still want Rays Funds I will make sure you get it.[Y]
 7.

I keep seeing his name on here.   Who is he?
Speaking of which, here is a poster who would be well up there on my list of potential Radio Norfolk presenters.
So that''s what he is!   Who did he used to play for?
Nobody that I am aware of. I shouldn''t even think that he was good enough for his school team?
So he''s "the new" Neil Adams?   Neil played for Stoke, Everton, Norwich and Oldham. And was capped for England at U21 level. "Bus out" Butler was last pick at school?   Sounds like a fair swap[:S]

 9. I just assumed Jackson was injured. Did Lambert say it was tactical?
 10. I keep seeing his name on here.   Who is he?
 11. A wonderful first touch which always gives him more time for the second one.   One of my favourite players of all time.   Didn''t bother watching him much today though. There were some huge performances in the Norwich team. And Holts goal was sheer class.
 12.
I feel even more sick now.  Just seen Borussia Dortmund won 3-1.  It was between Dortmund and Liege, both short prices at around 2/7, but I thought top v 6th, or 4th v bottom?  Gutted...
You''ll be back for another go next year Jed. And you''ll be back helping Broadslim next week. I say it so many times but we really do need everything to go for us to get a win. If not the bookies would have gone out of business long ago. Sooooo close again this week and it''s credit to all you PUPs that we come so close so often.   On a personal note I have enjoyed your week. There have been some good posts about selection processes. Trent made a really good call as well. We have some real talent in this team of PUPs and the next win will come very soon.
 13.

Nutty, I noticed your pick of Karabukspor won, I nearly put them in, but I think they were just below mid table and lost their last game or 2, and at 1/10 I thought they were a little bit of a short price.  They won 3-2 having been a goal down and the other team had a player sent of at 2-2 so was squeeky bum time for a while.  I''d have been gutted if they hadn''t won and my free bet weekend was over by 1pm on Saturday.  Thats the other reason I left them out, imagine that, if tyhe free bet had lost by 1pm on Saturday?  That would have been the biggest fail ever...   Well done anyway, fingers crossed we''re all back celebrating tomorrow night...
Yes Jed. I noticed the result but wasn''t aware of what happened in the game. I feel lucky! I couldn''t believe the other team scored a goal let alone two. I also thought the price at 1/10 was well short because both teams were bottom half. But...... I prepare a list of possible selections which I''d be happy to make. Then on the Thursday afternoon I post one from that list which, if possible hasn''t already been picked. It''s my way of trying to widen the choice whilst still selecting a game i''ve got full confidence in. I think on balance you did brilliantly avoiding it. Well done so far and good luck tomorrow buddy[Y]
Just to add that another game on my list was Roda!! I would have probably posted that up if it hadn''t already been selected. So it''s definitely my lucky weekend so let''s hope it''s yours too Jed! Good swerves so far buddy[Y]
 14.

He had his time with us but he gave away too many free kicks and penalties. He was like an octopus at times over the forwards. I don''t miss him. I doubt Spurs do either.
I believe he only gave away 2 penalties in his whole time with us, and one of them was a bad decision where he got his Red card rescinded, Shackell gave away more penalties. Just one of the many myths the boo boys on here created about the Doc, alongside the "he''s far to slow" comment, although even Huckerby said that the Doc was actually the second quickest player at the club behind him. If you watch back the season we got relegated from the Championship, I think you''ll find that Jon Otsemobor was at fault for a lot of goals, worst defender I''ve seen in the Yellow shirt, I also never rated Shackell (although he was pretty decent to be fair when he came back on loan)
Doherty DID give away a lot of free kicks just outside the penalty box.
Probably not as many as you think K lo. But when the Doc had a mishap it was usually a memeorable one. The Doc always marked the strong forwards. His battles with Alan Lee against scum were epic.  I remember being at Portaloo one season and The Doc had a great game against Lee. I should think 75% of the fouls were given in his favour. The binners were going mental and when I looked on here after I got home posters were saying he was forever fouling Lee and should have been sent off!!! Our posters berating the referee for not sending our player off! Work that one out!! But that''s what The Doc had to contend with the entire time he was here.   Anyway, Doc never gave anything less than 100% for us. When i met him he had to dash off to do some hospital visitng. He is 100% a good guy. When I saw what happened today it made me smile. I''m pleased for him and I hope he plays the rest of his games somewhere where the fans are on his side.

 16.
Would I like to eat a buffet prepared by someone who''d had their hand down a toilet a few minutes beforehand? I don''t think so.
Do you like wine gums cluck[:^)]   I wouldn''t want a wine gum after any of you suffolk farmhands had put your mits in the packet. Pickin'' your nose and scratching your arse. Yuck cluck!!![+o(]   Maynards are the tits though[Y]
 17. Now there''s a thought Thej old fruit...   Tattys! Bet Mister didn''t think of that. The bigger the Tattoo the better the ranking. Unless someone''s had NCFC tattooed on their todger. I''ve had all the words to On The Ball City put on mine so the rest of you can vie for second place[;)]
 18.
Its all good so far, lets see how we are feeling at about 10pm tomorrow before we get too carried away....
St Gallen still 2-0 ahead hope they see it out. Man City won 3-0. I''ll be back later to check the final score. All good so far Jed[Y]
 19. No..   The only real measure of the hierarchy of fans can be through selfless contributions to the club. Many of us like to think our season ticket is proof of our worth. But that is far from the truth. We have season tickets because we want them. We want to go to the games so take the cheapest option. It could be argued that we are second class to the casual fan who is prepared to pay full whack. So bearing this in mind I''d like to nominate a selfless fan to be number one in this hierarchy....   Step forward Cluckin'' Nora. A fan so true that she bought a whole bank of season tickets and never actually used one of them. How selfless is that? So despite being of Suffolk stock and as plastic as an inflatable canary Nora gets my vote[Y]
 20.

By the way "I don''t mind if you disagree with me". Yet another tolerant, reasoned outburst - a triumph!
The trouble is, Wurzell Gummidge, the intolerance is all yours. The fact of the matter is that you offend fans around the country and around the world. Fans that had to move away from Norwich for work/family and support from afar, often spending vast amounts of time and money following their team. Yet you see fit to think you are a better person because you live in Norwich. I''ve got news for you, you''re not. All Norwich fans should appreciate each other. Clearly, you do not. Actually, you come across as a spoilt, intolerant, schoolboy.
In fairness though... being born in Norwich must carry a certain cachet? Not making a fuss about it or anything......
Does a man from Norfolk stock carry more kudos as a Norwich fan than a man from Suffolk stock. Some would say, not me but some, that those from Suffolk stock but born in Norwich are plastic. They pretend to be pure but their roots are very much under portman road.
 21.
Good evening PUP''s, I hope we are all well. Firstly let me say a big thank you to everyone who has picked. I''ve spent about 2 hours going through the picks, checking out form and team news and i''ve finally settled on the following 6. I''ll give a brief sentence or 2 as to why...     Man City to beat Blackburn 1/6 - Surely only on winner here, City have won 12 out of 12 at home, and with Aguero, Dzeko, Silva, Balotelli and now Tevez coming back, surely they will have too much fire power for a poor Blackburn side. This is also my nap please Nutty, and with at least 6 other picks, it''d be rude not include them in the final 6.   Fleetwood to beat Alfreton 2/7 - Fleetwood have had a great season and sitting top of the confrence with Wrexham hot on their heels. They host an Alfreton side just in the relegation zone. Fleetwood are playing well and scoring plenty of goals at the moment, and I expect them to turn Alfreton over.   St Gallen to beat SC Bruhl 1/7 - I know nothing of either of these teams, i''m trusting Trent Canarys expertise on this one. Looking at the table, its as one sided as it gets and based on the evidence provided, this should be a home banker...   Standard Liege to beat St Truiden 2/7 - The Belgium Premier league is not my strongest subject, but Liege are good at home with 9 wins out 13 and conceding only 9 goals. St Truiden have taken just 6 points on the road, and have not won in the last 10 games and won just 2 games all season, surely this is a great chance for Liege to put pressure on the top 3 and add nearly 30% onto our winnings...   Real Madrid to beat Rayo Vallecano 4/11 - I fancy Real Madrid to turn the screw on Barcelona this weekend. Its not very often Real''s odds are as big as 4/11. Real have already beaten Rayo 6-2 this season, Ronaldo is in sparkling form, they have goals all over the team, and Rayo have only taken 13 points out of 33 at home. I think Real can do the business here...   Porto to beat Feirense 1/8 - Porto got dealt with by City, however, dometically, they are almost untouchable at home. Feirense are 3rd bottom, and only taken 4 points out of 27 on the road. There is only 1 winner in this game.     So there we go, i''ve tried to stick to home bankers with just one exception, however that exception is one of the best teams in the world, with one of the best and most in form players in the world. Its been great fun, well worth the wait to have a go, and i''ve spent a lot longer doing this than I would do with my own footy bets. Good luck everyone and thanks for your support and efforts... [:)]
Thanks for these Jed. I know you are enjoying this week and these look like you''ll enjoy the weekend too. Brilliant job buddy! I''ve placed the bet with bet365 and the potential return is £32.14. A good balance there with a decent potential return. Bet Details Date/Time Stake Return Man City @ 1/6 Fleetwood Town @ 2/9 St Gallen @ 1/7 Standard Liege @ 2/7 Real Madrid @ 4/11 FC Porto @ 1/8 Six-Folds, 1 bet * £10.00 25/02/2012 01:23:30 10.00 0.00 10.00 0.00     Fleetwood get us underway at 3pm followed Man City at 5:30 and St Gallen at 6pm. Hopefully we will go undefeated into Sunday whenStandard Liege kick off at 1:30 followed by Real Madrid at 3pm and finally Porto at 8:15.   Best of luck everyone. A City win and a PUPs win would be one helluva weekend[H]
 22.
AVB says to Spurs Harry ''Have you heard of the Poznan Man City?'' Harry says ''No I don''t think so'' ''But I''ve heard of the Norwich Barclay''   (Probably won''t go down too well in the Snakepit though....I''ll get my coat)
Hm, my lord, hm, my lord. I really want to sing it, really want to sing with you, really want to sing it lord but it takes so long, my lord.
 23. Go for it Jed[Y]   I have a good feeling about this week.   I''v got to go back to work now but I''ll be back late tonight to put the bet on.
 24. Could it be that contracts will be dealt with after it''s mathematically established which league we will be playing in next season?
