  1. why do we always seem to get sheff weds either the last or penultimate game of the season?
  2. I think there is cause for optism provided we can get in between 3-5 good signings. If you look at our team player for player i do believe that we have the ability (combined with those signings to be a top 6 side). I have reservations about; Gallagher, Doc, Hughes, Thorne, Colin - these are decent enough players but not of the quality to get us into the top 6 and even that is debatable as some will argue Doc is good enough and others will invariably list players not mentioned who they think are not good enough. The squad has a lot of very talented players in there. Provided Grant can make it gel and add those signings we WILL compete in that top 6.
  3. That is the statement made by Alex_ncfc in one of my earlier threads ''Champions''. Christ what does he mean by that?? Direct Action? So just what is it time for then? Protests? Non-conformity through non-attendance at matches? Not wearing our Norwich tops in public? Sit-ins? Riots? I would love to know alex_ncfc........
  4. Some poor summer signings, some god-awful results and 17th position will be but a matter of months away. Mark my words it will happen. We will secure 17th position this season.   Well why not write the above because if nothing else it will keep smudger, alex_ncfc happy and the rest of the miserable crowd happy :(
  5. A few great summer signings, some cracking results and 1st spot will be but a matter of months away. Mark my words it will happen. We will get promoted this season.
  6. there is absolutely nothing wrong with constructive critiscm and from the original thread i am in favour of debate. but that is the point...debate. rarely are there threads that include informed debate. these days.
  7. I think we are a moderate club. In terms of attendance we pull in one of the largerst attendance figures in the champosnhip. Financially we cant compete. In terms of past success we havent achieved enough to warrant calling ourselves a big club. Winning the league cup and div 1 doesnt put us up there. Neither does one fairly successful uefa cup run. So i dont think we have ever been a big club, i dont think we have the potential to be a big club due to our geographical location and we certianly currently are not a big club.
  8. at least he goes to matches....and therefore his insight is based upon what he sees, rather than what he reads on ceefax
  9. "sighs" alex_ncfc please read the original post and if the word ''debate'' still mystifies you then please consult the dictionary.
  10. i have moved round the corner from the rovers ground (now in exile) :( went to watch a game last season as i was in the area that weekend and it was good fun!!
  11. Fordy, sadly you epitomise everything that is wrong with this forum. And in future perhaps you could restrict your answers to something either legible or intelligent?
  12. please excuse my ignorance as i may have thise wrong, but didnt we use the money to sign Lee Croft from Man City and on our loan signings wages and agents fees? or did the money come from a ''different pot''?
  13. Dublin would be a great ''club captain'' but i am not sure about team captain simply because he may not be afforded adequate pitch time. To be fair i cant really think of a better alternative though :(
  14. Thanks for your kind words of support guys. Perhaps I made an inappropriate comment about it being new posters who cause the mischief as i am fully aware that there are many new posters who do offer informative and interersting debate. I do miss some users in particular DumbleDelia is Magic, but truth be told if i see threads by certain posters on certain topics i often wont bother going in as it is usually negative-whiny or the same old thing being said over and over and over again. I think it is very fair to say that when this forum started we were riding the crest of a wave and there was less bitching. However, in regards to today''s issues, I understand that many didn''t like Worthy, don''t like Delia, think Grant is the wrong man for the job....but how many times must I have to read it? i am sure that if i posted on here how much i liked Grant day after day after day it would irritate people, so please spare a thought for how the rest of us feel. Sorry for the negativity of this thread but very rarely do I find posts that havent been hi-jacked by people wishing to force their own agenda onto the rest of us.
  15. I remember back in the good old days this used to be a nicer place to visit. Threads were informative, interesting and intelligent debate took place. Now it seems that it has been de-based to bitching, stupid rumours, cliques and in-fighting, and generally by those posters who registered in ''06 or later. Shame.....
  16. First Sutton Now Cureton ....with Gunny rumoured to be doing his coaching qualifications to shrink his waistline, lets register him too!! I have nothing against the afore mentioned players re-signing for us (alright Gunny was taking the mick), but I am sure that we should be looking to sign eager hungry young talent who will serve the club for more than 2 seasons before retiring or being to old to cope in the fizzy league!!?? Whilst i dont doubt Cureton''s pedigree, and i absolutely loved it when he died his hair green, he is, however, 31. So at best we will get 2 seasons out of him before he will potentially become ineffective for that standard. Surely we should be looking to sign someone about 24/25 (prob scottish too ;) who will serve us longer and should they happen to move on we would still command a transfer fee for them? Or should i let nostalgia rule my thoughts.....
  17. I dont think its a 500k bid, it said that the bid would total 500k. My reckoning is that it is a 200-300k bid with sell ons and performance related pay, ie promotion to prem payouts etc.
  18. Do you know i did wonder if i was bidding against anybody else from here on that shirt! yeah it was quite a lot, especially as when i first saw it it was £12!! in response to yer question jas, my mate got his lfc shirt authenticated by sotherby''s, otherwise you are just taking a gamble on ebay.
  19. That is aawesome!! Actually i was amazed when my mate got Fowlers shirt as to large it was as well! (my mate also wore it for a 5-a-side kick about before framing it!!). And Robins too is one of my favourite players of all time, albeit a short career his goals in that first premiership season were both spectualar and important!!
  20. I give you your striker......   Christopher Sutton
  21. My mate has had an LFC Robbie Fowler match worn shirt framed and hanging on his wall (the one where he snorted the touch line v everton) for a few years now! it looks awesome and i have been v.jealous. So, i decided to buy a match worn shirt. Now I would have loved to have got one of Eadies as without question he was my favourite player of all time, but i have spent the last 6 years looking and never come across one, so when one of my top 5 playes of all time''s shirt appeared I snapped it up. I am now the proud owner of Phillip Mulryne''s match worn shirt. (i appreciate i will get a lot of stick for that last sentence, but i dont care cos i loved him when he was here!!) I just wondered if anyone else on here owned match worn shirts. If so whose do you have? Also anyone on here got Suttons boots from the last game of the 92/93 season v Middlesborough when he chucked them into the crowd? That would be a cool thing to have got.
  22. Blimey! thanks again for that extremely insightful! god it makes you wonder what sort of idiots are in charge of businesses! although....i did see those carpets (on a tour of carrow rd), i thought they looked very nice!! lol. Cheers again Nutty Nigel.   OTBC
  23. well i did kind of figure that one out! what i meant was where did the money go?
