1. There''s alot more to come out yet. Russell handled himself well in the interview. He definitely managed to reveal support and sympathy with Gunn but at the same time restate his loyalty to Lambert. My understanding is that the power(s) that be wanted Gunn to sell Hoolahoop, Russell and Doherty but Gunn fiercely resisted making the point that thhis trio were vital for theseason ahead and that the players he had brought in were building on the foundation and experience provided by HRandD. Those same three players were put in the shop window when Gunn had been ejected and Lambert arrived and either no one offered enough or Lambert soon realised that Gunn was right and these three players were a vital foundation for the team - and so it has proved.
 2.
Maybe we''ll here a bit less from those who still try to attribute the current good run to the "foundations" laid by Bryan Gunn. Richard Balls, writing in yesterday''s local press, also dismissed any notions of our success having anything to do with a certain Mr G. It''s good that people in the know are beginning to set the record straight.
Ah, Mr Balls ! Richard Balls "dismissed any notions of our success having anything to do with a certain Mr G. It''s good that people in the know are beginning to set the record straight." That''s that cleared up then ! Seriously, how silly ! I am delighted by what has been achieved by Lambert and I hope he/we go from strength to strength but to suggest that Lambert''s success has nothing to do with Bryan Gunn is just plain nonsense. The squad put together by Gunn and Butterworth (wasn''t Theoklitis Crook''s only contribution to proceedings and Crook is the only one of the three left at the club ?!) is the squad that has achieved so much under Lambert and Lambert is the first to admit that he has inherited "very good players". Of course, Gunn laid the foundations for what is now being achieved, so such is revisionism !
 3.
Just thought that this was a bit more revealing than the usual anodyne stuff: http://new.eveningnews24.co.uk/content/Sport/story.aspx?brand=ENOnline&category=Sport&tBrand=ENOnline&tCategory=Sport&itemid=NOED27+Nov+2009+10%3A38%3A31%3A723 “I don''t want to sound like I''m licking up to the manager, but to be honest with you we''re a completely different team, there''s a different approach to how things are done and it''s 10 times more professional than I''ve ever known it,” said Russell. “Training is different class, we''re training hard and we''re doing it right, and perhaps those things weren''t right before. I think it''s showing in the strength and the sharpness the boys have, and also the confidence that we''re starting to breed." .......... “I was failed a little bit last year in terms of me being played up front, trying to help the team - and ruin my season, to be honest with you. The worst season of my career was last year. “Because of a lack of players and other things, I was there filling in for other people and it was disappointing from my front." ........... “To be honest I''m shocked I even got booked in it,” said Russell. “It was a tackle, the guy done me and I think their big lad Dickinson just seemed to jump on top of me for whatever reason, but he apologised after and said it was nothing, so it''s done and dusted. Even the ref said it probably looked so bad he had to book somebody. They''ve got some big lads, Brighton. You stood in the tunnel next to them and you noticed that. But there''s no fear in this team, from little Wes to big Jens, we''ll all fight and stick together and that''s good. Especially when we had the little scrap, all the boys jumped in and were there around it, and that just shows the team spirit and strength of character we have.” The last paragraph''s a bit contradictory. Was it a "little scrap" or not? You decide! ......... Good interview, I thought.
"I don''t want to sound like I''m licking up to the manager"  bbbbbbut that is of course exactly what I''m doing.
 4. " The opener, when it came was as sweet as a little nut. Wes to Korey Smith and quickly on to Martin, whose powerful shot arrowed into the bottom corner. " Reminded me of a Chris Sutton goal against Everton at Carrow Road many years ago, Ricardo. Good to see you are still match reporting ! I haven''t been on this MB for months but I seem to be getting "Connection problems" all the time.
 5. My visits to this MB are becoming less and less frequent. Summer, cricket, other distractions all combine to lure me away from the compelling and scintillating messages on this MB. But there is one other significant reason why the temptation to click on has become less attractive and that reason is because all most of you seem to do is moan, moan and moan. All that wailing, whingeing, whimpering and whining is wearing me down and many others I suspect. Conspiracy theories and imaginings abound and are created (where none existed in the first place) so that you can then carp and complain. The vitriolic criticism of Gunn has reached and been sustained at the most unpleasant and unjustified levels. I would dare any of you anti-Gunn whiners to accuse him to his face of being a "puppet man" or a "Delia yes man" because, of course, he isn''t and you would deserve to be decked if you did have the bottle. I truly despair at some of the moronic claptrap I read on here. It didn''t use to be too bad because in the not too distant past the stimulating, constructive and amusing posts far outweighed the negative, nonsensical, peevish posts but that balance has been dramatically reversed in recent months. For the record, I too am depressed by our decline and relegation to the Third Division (with possibly a return to the old Div 3 South and North regionalization the season after next I hear). I too would like to see new owners and loadsamoney. I too remain to be convinced that Gunn will be a good manager for us. However, I am also a pragmatist and I see no benefit in ranting and raving about our plight. Personally, I see no sense in constantly bad-mouthing Delia et al and I have nothing but contempt for the posters who criticise Gunn in such an empty-headed  and spiteful way. So........... this particular poster has decided to take a long vacation from this Moaning Board. Happy Summer all !
 6.

Players and staff not paid this month and we though we were in s**t
In all honestly it is sad that so many clubs are in such trouble but frankly give it another year with Delia and her puppets and we will be firmly stuck in the brown stuff!!
You just don''t get it, do you ? Delia may have made bad decisions in her choices of directors and managers, and she has certainly been given bad advice over the years but, if it wasn''t for her and her husband, NCFC wouldn''t just be in the brown stuff but flushed down the toilet a long time ago. FACT.
 7.

It realy is good of him and hopefully a genuine offer. He does not deserve abuse or flack if you believe it or not. How strange that the invisible man suddenly appears when the other cannon fodder has gone. Is there anyone else left to hide behind?
Only reason Fouger is taking the lead on this (and I admire his stance by the way), is that if the letter / offer came from The Cook they know precisely how that would go down amongst the fans!
Or maybe it is coming from Foulger because he doesnt want to make money from the club, whilst Delia doesnt wants profit.
Do you mean you think Delia does/does not want to make a profit? The board as a whole would have to agree something like this so he is probably using money that he had already earmarked to invest. Stand up CT and answer if this was correct (from a previous thread). It''s like DS and her 2 mil covering/not covering Turners last year. Oh by the way with the new tax rates he would lose 50% of the money if he kept it, I am sure (pleaseTFA) this would be tax deductable some way. Still a nice sum though!
The 50% tax rate is not effective until the start of the financial year 2010 i.e 5.4.10. A company is able to contribute money to a football club but any such contribution could not be used reduce CT. If Foulger uses his own money for such a contribution then by definition he has already paid tax on it. Either way Foulger gains no financial advantage and no shares in the club. Whichever way you look at it, it is an extremely generous gesture from a loyal Norwich fan and should be applauded. It seems to me that most posters on here (not all, thank God) are moaning, miserable whingers who only want see the bad in everything.
 8.
Support Gunn , no thanks .
That''s a bit childish Moan City. I didn''t like the decision to appoint Roeder but I still supported him over the first season because of the simple logic that if our manager does well then so does our "beloved" club........... or am I missing something here ?
 9.

Obviously the board are about 90% accountable for what has happened to our club. How people can still blame Roeder more than Gunny for our demis astonishes me... Just because he upset some of you with a few home truths and crass comments doesn''t make him the worst manager that NCFC have ever had. Don''t forget Roeder would of had Taylor and Martin Paterson playing in yella & green if it wasn''t for Delia & Co.
I can''t disagree with you on this Smudger.[Y]
That''s because you are as stupid as Smudge. Roeder prided himself on his wheeling and dealing in the transfer market - he set the valuations of player targets, not the Board.
The suggestion that Gunn is as much to blame as Roeder is so breathtakingly and mind-numbingly stupid that it isn''t worth challenging. I don''t know, I come on here for a few moments of light relief from the daily routine and most of you are still whingeing and moaning. It''s going to be a long summer for some of you.
 10.
He''s not even that good.
Good call. I have to admit I liked him but I have doubts about his stamina and hunger for a whole season. More important, I did feel we played alot better and looked more threatening with Mooney and Gow up front. To my mind, Lee would be a good impact sub but unfortunately we can''t afford that luxury in the 3rd.
 11.
Has there ever been a more depressing start to a pre-season than this one?
Blimey, May = pre-season ?! Give them a chance for Crissakes.
 12.

It was only a few days ago he was telling us they had targets identified and were ahead of the game because they started working before they were told they had the job (lmfao) now its the same old bullshit we get every season .Really believe Gunn has not got a clue what hes doing , another fight against the drop coming up. Jeez, all you do is flipping whinge. Ever thought of changing your user name to Moan City ?Well theres not much to moan about in your fantasy world is there ? Delias a saint , Gunns the next Sir Alex and a team with zero quality in it are tracking 29 year olds from Hartlepool that will turn out to be world beaters .Yes everything at Norwich City is rosy as long as your a Delia supporter.

My fantasy world''s alot my exciting than that MC. As far as our beloved team is concerned, Delia is long past her use by date but what''s the point in moaning, I don''t see any knights on white chargers out there with loadsamoney to buy Norwich City, do you ? And no, the late Jade Goody''s boyfriend''s uncle Tweedledum doesn''t fall into that category. Gunn''s the manager and I can''t change that so my view is to see what he does. I have a good opinion of him anyway. As far as getting players from lower leagues is concerned, why not ? I''m looking forward to seeing how MacD performs in League One and bringing in hardnosed centre backs like Nelson seems eminently sensible to me. My fantasies don''t include any of the foregoing, not even Delia. Cheer up MC, it''s not the end of the world. You never know, you might be pleasantly surprised by Gunn next season, now wouldn''t that be fun ?
 13. I wholeheartedly agree that Hucks can still make a very positive contribution for us in League One, in more ways than one. Ironically, I remember clearly the numerous fans on here who supported Roeder''s decision not to renew Huckerby''s contract before the start of the season just finished. What a poor, shabby and plainly ridiculous decision that was. Many of us did criticise that decision and I vividly recall being told "to move on" and "get over it" every time the subject was raised.
 14.
He said: “There are a lot of people on holiday but at the same time agents are on the phone recommending players and it''s a case of sifting through as many people as possible and deciding whether we need to move. “I would think it will be a domino effect - when one goes, one comes in. “Not having been in the managerial seat before, it''s one of those things you want to happen as quickly as possible but I realise it''s not going to happen overnight. Patience is the key.” Sounds like a loser to me! He could have chosen to say anything positive, but the words he chose were negative. Schoolboy error todo that once, to keep repeating it = loser.
It''s just a non-interview during a very quiet time. It''s going to be like this for weeks. Pink Un Message Boarders with time on their hands, starved of news getting more and more frustrated and having poke after poke at Gunn or anything else that moves at Carrow Road just to pass the time.

 16.

good post. that''s why there aren''t any replies.
Most people already understood the situation anyway so didn''t need telling. That''s why there were no replies. Similar situation to managers not resigning. The vast majority of people know that managers rarely resign because they would be fools to walk away from a compensation package. So, much better to be sacked and take the money. However, there is always a vociferous minority exclaiming "he should do the decent thing and resign". For example, you still get odd people on here calling for Delia to "walk away"......
On a separate note, looking at the Chris Lakey interview with Huckerby made me wonder if Chris Lakey''s mother had a brief liaison with John Madjeski many year ago.

 18.
As far as i can see Loan City Gunn has done his very best for this football club and i honestly believe he feels the pain of relegation as much as what we do. Now dont get me wrong i dont think he is the person to take us forward although his intentions are good i dont believe he has the tactical awareness to get us near the top of the league next season. I dont blame Gunn for our relegation, yes he was in charge for the last 19 games but he inherited a squad that was very poor which was brought together by Grant and Roeder over the course of the last 2 or 3 seasons. Gunn brought in some good players towards the end of the season but again tactically he was poor. Roeder done more damage for this club than any manager in the past 20 years.
Eloquently put, I couldn''t have said this better !
 19.
But the Roeder bashing ones are fine ? Gunn relegated us not Grant not Roeder but Bryan Gunn , and in my opinion he will never make a manager , simply put he is clueless .
Yep, Roeder deserves to be bashed for a whole range of reasons not least the fact that he "relegated us" not Gunn. Of course, Gunn happened to be the manager at the time we went down but as any objective, thinking fan knows the corrosive and rapid (rabid) degeneration and demise of our club was brought about by Roeder (and not stopped by the Board)***. The club and the team was in freefall when Gunn took over from Roeder and the sharp descent couldn''t be halted. No one knows whether Boothroyd or another experienced manager would have halted and reversed the hurtling downward trend caused by Roeder but personally I very much doubt it. *** the decline of our club has been chronic and IMO ironically with promotion ot the Premiership and the ludicrous "Ambition with prudence" defeatism. Grant was awful but he had not eviscerated the team and destroyed morale, that was left for Roeder to do and he seemed to set about his task with relish and, I must concede, was dramatically successful.
 20.

So i take it then you were both Glenn Roeder fans?!? Experience doesnt always work!
If we had given the job to Gunn when we employed Roeder do you think we would have been playing Championship football last season ?
Here we go again, let''s flail around in frustration, lash out and bash Gunn. Re yr post, the obvious answer is of course no one will ever know.... but I don''t see why not. I have consistently said that I''m confident that Gunn will be a good and succesful manager for our club. Only time will tell. In the meantime, this constant succession of inane, vacuous, fatuous and pointless Gunn bashing threads from all the usual suspects is really boring.
 21.
Its too late now, he will undoubtedly go to a champiosnhip team, which is why we should have gone for him in Jan.
Agreed, but interestingly many people expected a Championship club to make a move for him in the January transfer window but it didn''t happen.
 22.
I''m with Pete, Rickie Lambert would be quality and as Smudger said we really should have got him onboard in January
Maybe, but why would Bristol Rovers allow him to go a competitor and why would Lambert want to join us anyway ?
 23.
While I agree it''s not the most tasteful name going, why is everyone starting to get all ''uppity'' about it now? He''s had it for ages..........[^o)]
To be honest, I''ve literally only just noticed it, I saw Larry David''s post earlier in this thread. So, I''ve said my piece, that''s it.
 24. I agree with Larry David''s post. Your username is tasteless and grossly offensive.
 25. Blimey, you''ve missed your vocation ! I have to say that this one brought a broad grin to my face but the other one really cracked me up, Bryan Gunn was hilarious. Looking forward to the full length feature !
