1. Isn''t Thatcher a left-back though? Do we need a left-back, what with, Drury, Charlton and Brennan? I think a centre-half is needed more tan another left-back, although Thatcher is a good player...
 2. Okay Drury may have made a few guffs, but his flatulence is not a major factor in his defensive errors. Nah, for me Flem has got to go, but for who - I just don''t know. As I''ve said before, I don''t think its a good time to bring Shackell in and I like Helveg playing in a holding midfield role. Maybe there is someone out there within our price range or available for loan who could shore up our back line, but I haven''t got a clue who...
 3.
Earlier on I bought some petrol, behind me was Mr Rodney Slater from Thorpe St Andrew. Must have a car
LOL!!!!
 4. Thank you GPB.Just one more thing: Does it not strike everyone as odd that he apparently has so much quality, yet he was a 30 yr old who had never played outside the Scandinavian leagues until we signed him? Do people not think that if he does genuinely have this quality (which I''ve not seen yet), that he would have been picked up by a club in either Italy, Spain, England, Germany or Holland before now?
 5.
I think he was a good buy! We aren''t going to get a top class Premiership winger or striker for under a million, didn''t we only pay about £750k for him? What we have got is a versatile player (he pla...
I''ve said this in a previous thread. He DID NOT "set up" Jarvis'' goal. Laying the ball out wide to someone who then goes on to beat the full back and smash it in to the top corner from 18 yards does not constitute a set up in my books - that was a great INDIVIDUAL goal, which was created by Javis'' class not Jonson''s pass. Thats like saying the guy who passed to Maradonna when he beat the whole England team in ''86 "set up" his goal!! Which is ludicrous, alright that example is a bit extreme but its the same principal. He has had NO moments of brilliance... where did you get that from?I agree that maybe just as a squad/fringe player buy he would have been okay. But we paid quite a bit (in terms of Norwich''s speding) for him and he''s not been up to it. He should not be in the starting XI - no way.
 6.
Thing is WN, it''s Worthy''s bad. If he thinks Jonson''s a winger then he''s wrong, cos he ain''t. Or at least, perhaps he can play there in a weak league, but he certainly ain''t a prem winger. It''s not ...
Well this begs the question.... why did he buy him? Also, why buy Dean Ashton if we''ve got a ready made striker at the club? Why not go out and buy a right winger? My opinion is: Jonson is a right winger, just as much as he is a striker - he can play both. He''s just not a very good player.
 7. In no particular order:Roy KeaneEl Hadj DioufKevin MuscatDavid Batty (Is he still plying?)Wayne Rooney I can''t believe nobody had Roy Keane in their list!!
 8.
HI Worthy Nigelton , I cannot say Jonson was the POOREST buy this season because you know, Helveg was surely ahead of him. Jonson was not the best player I had seen but he played by his heart, or I...
I disagree, I think Helveg was starting to play well in midfield before he got injured and he had a great game against Liverpool at right back, for me though I think Helveg''s role in the side should be as a holding midfield player, despite a lot of posters wanting him at right back. I cannot recall one game this season where I''ve thought "Jonson played well today" maybe you''re correct that he should play up front but Worthington obviously thinks he''s a winger as he has continued to play him there.
 9.
Jonsons performances are getting better and better by the week.. until he got injured vs Tottenham on boxing day he was all over them.... he has pace and skill and there isnt anyone better on the ri...
All over Spurs on Boxing Day? I can''t remember that.Pace and skill? What is this based on? He hasn''t beaten one single full back all year. Name me one full back who he regularly took on and scared."Goals aren''t far off" again, based on what? He doesn''t get into scoring positions hardly at all for a supposedly attacking player and when he has done I''ve never seen him hit the target.I''m not slating him because he tries hard, his work-rate and effort are very commendable and I admire that. I''m just saying he has absolutely no quality whatsoever and if he continues to be played when Paul McVeigh is sitting on the bench then there is something seriously wrong.Effort only gets you so far, then you need a little something else... and Jonson hasn''t got it. Simple as...
 10.
Don''t worry WN, i know him, he made this rumour up and i was with him at the time. We go to college together and he thought he''d wind u all upwith this silly rumour.
Okay, fair do''s. Sorry old pal.In that case p**s off our boards Sir Mike Harle!!!
 11.
WHAT A LOAD OF CRAP!!!!!! GUYS DON''T TAKE ANY NOTICE OF HIM HE''S JUST ANOTHER PRATT MAKING UP SILLY RUMOURS!
Alright Franny V, calm yourself down son. He''s only saying what he heard second hand and he''s implied that he (and nor do I for the record) doesn''t believe it. No need to call him a prat.
 12.
IMO i doubt it that we''ll see shacks play in the premiership this season, and if he does, then it prob won''t be for long. if we go down though, i think he''ll play more of a part next season.
I agree Franny V, and I think this is the best thing to do.
 13. Yep, totally agree Chris, I''m a big Worthy fan although sometimes some of his tactics aren''t what I would probably do, but yep, if we want to progress as a club gradually then we''ve got a good man in charge. I think the majority of fans share this view as illustrated on Saturday, when at 4-1 down the Barclay started singing "Nigel, Nigel Worthington, Nigel, Nigel Worthington" a great show of support even though we were getting tonked. If we keep behind him in this way, we will establish ourselves as a Premiership club. Maybe not this year but eventually.
 14. Why was the decision to bring Jonson off booed on Saturday. Yet again I thought he was poor. WLY looked far superior when he came on. Now don''t get me wrong, Jonson tries exceptionally hard, is brave and is good in the air, but please somebody tell me why every fan except me thinks he''s really good? He gives you absolutely nothing in an attacking sense (which is primarily his job). No pace, no tricks, no crosses, no chances created, no goals... absolutely nowt. Does anyone else agree or am I watching a different game? I know you''re all going to say "he''s a striker and is out of position" but surely this can''t be the case - Worthington has only ever started him on the right so he must see him as a winger.
 15.
No I am not mad, just a supporter who knows a good central defender when I see one, and also a supporter who believes in playing your strongest side. Just in case you haven''t watched Shackell, he has...
Yes I have watched Shackell play, you patronising **** My logic is that Ashton is experienced at Div 1 level and is proven to be a top player at that level, so the time has come for him to move up a level. Despite what we all hope Shacks can become, NONE of us have seen enough of him to KNOW that he will do well if thrown in at this time. I, for one, don''t think its worth putting pressure on him and possibly hindering his development by throwing him in at the moment in a desperate bid to sort our defence out. The management see him week-in-week-out and they are obviously in agreement with me... but obviously you have more tactical nous than Livermore, Worthy and Foley put together don''t you Silver Fox. I wouldn''t say I''m negative although maybe I come across that way. I just think that there is no point deluding yourself. We PROBABLY are going down, but thats not to say we are for definite and I think Saturday proved thats its never over until the fat bird sings. I will continue to support the team through thick and thin and just because I''m realistic it doesn''t mean I''m negative.
 16.
If you look at our goal difference, then the time is right NOW to play Shackell alongside Doherty. Assuming that there are going to be 4 teams fighting for the vital 17th position then goal differe...
The time is NOT right to play Shackell now at all. As I mentioned in my first post, if he comes into the side now, we are still going to leak goals right, left and centre because of the standard we are playing at. Putting him into a team that are most likely going to get relegated and concede loads of goals (with or without him in) is not a good way for him to be bled into the side. This would do him absolutely no good whatsoever. I can''t believe you think that to throw a 20 year old lad, with very little first team experience even at Div 1 level, into a relegation scrap at the end of a season under tremendous pressure, against strikers of the kind of quality he has never even seen before let alone played against before is a good thing to do!!! Are you mad? I agree our defence is shocking and Flem has looked completely out of his depth and MAYBE Shackell MIGHT do a better job than him but I still think that the start of next season is the time to bring him in. Think long-term not short-term.
 17. Are you having a laugh? No way! He''s about 140 years old. Hmmmm....... perhaps Stanley Matthews could do a job at inside-right for us?
 18.
Lave her alone! She''s entitled to a few drinks, her husband died AND City were appalling.
Completely agree Splendid Rush. The poor woman, her husband dies then City lose and then to top it off she gets smashed and somebody has to have a go at her. If she wants to get smashed its up to her.
 19. I have heard from many people I know connected wiht NCFC that Shacks is very highly rated within the club. However, I feel that the management are probably waiting for the right time to bring him in... Its no good throwing him in at the deep end in a side that are struggling because we can''t expect him to be the saviour. Even if he did play we would still probably concede loads of goals and this will do his confidence no good. Anyone go to Palace away last year? Shacks played left-back and was absolutely apalling - the Palace fans started cheering when he got the ball in the end!! So I think the management don''t want to risk something like this happening again, but he''ll come through in the end - of that I am positive. Give him time.....
 20.
I totally agree about match fitness, it is a disgrace. But I believe he has had a tough break - after consistently being our best performer, he has been a victim of people coming in in his position. ...
Not for the first time I''m with you on this one Bananaman. I like WLY a lot, he has great touch, vision, final ball and is probably the most natural finisher at the club. As you quite correctly pointed out Bentley, Holt (don''t agree with McKenzie) and even players like Drury and recently Flem all got or have had extended runs in the team although they weren''t/aren''t performing even close to where they should be, yet WLY gets one start and 20 mins here and there as a sub. I always have thought Worthington is a little biased towards his signings and I think WLY is just not maybe being treated as fairly as others because of this fact.
 21.
WN, you are usually "on the button" at spotting underperforming players. Can you tell me the last game Mullers was influential in? Can you tell me the last defence-splitting pass Mullers played? Ca...
I agree Bananaman, his form for about a year and a half hasn''t been what I expect from anyone wearing the sacred yellow shirt. However, I have still seen glimpses that he is a good player. As I posted originally, I don''t think he deserves a place in the team as his performances have been poor, but I think this is more due to fitness than a lack of ability.
