  1. I saw Clarke play when he was Stoke captain in March 05 and he was good....similar to Adam Drury (which is why I remember him) - a good defender who looked to get forward as much as possible. A good purchase if we can get him cheap - there''s a big difference between a talented versatile player and a journeyman utility player. from what I saw, Clarke is the former.
  2. I don''t want to get into the Worthy is useless...Sack the board...Where''s the money etc as I feel too many people use this forum for spleen-venting instead of intelligent debate. I do however feel that there is a distinctively different feel to the club''s approach this January compared to the last 2 years. The business model seems to have kept the prudence but lost the ambition. West Ham admit that they probably spent over the odds for Deano but decided to take the risk as they are looking to progress. This was what we did 2 years ago (although admittedly in a much stronger position than we are now) and last year we spashed the cash ourselves for Ashton...and it nearly worked. This time last year West Ham were struggling to get into the playoffs and Pardew was the devil incarnate at Upton Park.2006 -  the parallels are uncanny really. I just feel they were more determined to bust a gut to get back into The Premiership. They feel they belong there whereas I get the impression that we''re slipping back into being comfortable in The Championship We could splash the cash on some of Jerome, Earnshaw, Davenport, Halford, McSheffrey (who was excellent on Saturday), but it now looks like none of those will be coming but we might get Johansson?? There''s a bit of a gap there isnt there? To quote Worthy - “There is no point in bringing players in to go sideways. We need to bring players in who will help us go forwards.” I just think we should get the new young players in on at least 2 year contracts, consolidate for the rest of the season and go for it next year. How is Johansson is going to take the club forwards - would he be picked ahead of Leon? Oh, I dont know...maybe I''m venting my spleen...just frustrated at the situation. Any positive thoughts from anyone?
  3. The following remark isn''t so much racist as it is a given fact: African, as with most Asian footballers that play in the English league are injury prone athletes and they''re especially prone to injury when things aren''t going their way Shyster - that is a disgraceful comment and most certainly is racist. Please either attempt to explain in more detail or apologise. I''m sorry but that''s not the sort of ignorant nonsense that we need on this board.
  4. Primus'' agent: “I am planning to have a meeting with Portsmouth to see what they want to do regarding Linvoy. Having spoken to him I think he would like to stay and fight for his place but if they want to let him go then he may have to leave.” Nigel - he doesn''t want to come. End of story. Move on.
  5. “The fans have come a long way and spent a lot of money to support us today. As usual they travelled in big numbers and what they saw just wasn''t good enough" Thank you, Dean Marney. Also Dean Ashton saying the right things today “We''ve now had two bad defeats and the fans are going to have their say - and rightly so,” So we just need 11 players called Dean and we''ll be alright!! We deserve a hell of a lot more from our manager and our players. My only bright spot of the weekend was Ipswich losing at home with not a single shot on goal. Let''s win at Brum or at least show some fight!
  6. The fans are well within their rights to voice their disappointment - to travel down to London and a ticket for 26 quid and witness that lethargic and ineffective excuse for a team was appallingIt was the worst display I have seen for around 12 years, and the players should know how bitterly disappointed the fans are at the moment. I couldn''t agree more with Splendid Rush on this point. As supporters we have to voice our displeasure so why clap the players politely at the end of that disaster? There are questions that need answering pronto. Why did only three of them come to clap the supporters anyway? Rob Green had a shocker for the third goal but at least he came and clapped the fans. Why didn''t Worthington come over and face the music? Why didnt NW change things after 20 minutes when it was blatantly obvious things weren''t working? Why hasn''t any player quoted an apology for the performance? Why did Worthington play such a weak and short left side to the team against the QPR giants? Brennan and McVeigh looked absolutely out of their depth Where the heck is Jason Jarrett? Will someone please tell us what the hell is going on with him? Where is Delia? She was everyhere last season and nowhere this season. To coin a phrase...Come on, let''s be having you. Everyone needs to get real here - Relegation is a SERIOUS THREAT and we need to sort it now.
  7. I, for one, was pretty pleased when we got Jarrett as he had been man of the match in Wigan''s last game of last season - he looked to be a like for like replacement for Francis. So what''s happened? A semi fit Hughes and Charlton are now picked above him in the line up last night''s debacle. If he cant get in the team on Saturday, then surely we should get rid? I have my £26 ticket and am expecting a seriously improved performance to last night. Mind you, the last time I saw the boys in London was the Fulham 6-0 Fiasco so i''m not holding my breath. p.s How distant does the 2-0 win over Man Utd seem now??
  8. apologies Maverick. Should have made the subject line: Ashton - potentially a legend. I was talking more about his behaviour over the last week or so rather than his place in NCFC folklore.
  9. He has signed a contract extension when he must have had FAR better offers elsewhere. Well done lad. Now let''s get a centre back and a central midfielder and get on with it.
  10. An Irish mate of mine said Morrison was very good last night against Italy
  11. Hi make intermittent posts to this board and enjoy reading all the regulars posting their opinions. The thing that is clear from this forum is that everyone is mad about the yellows which is great but I do feel that Wiz might have lost the plot a little with his rant, which I found a bit insulting to be honest. Wiz, I find many of your posts interesting and nearly all of them intelligent but I think you let yourself down a bit here. I''m all for a debate but... Worthy is a silver-haired mug and indeed Paul McVeigh''s no bloody good. That''s just rude. This is the biggest sign yet, of just how bad things have got at City. Jeeez - take the pills mate. Helveg and Svennson exercised clauses in their contracts and we got seriously good cash for Jonnson considering his performances last season. We still have Green, Shackell, Francis, Safri, Huckerby and Ashton who, combined with McKenzie, Drury and Fleming make up most of last season''s first choice team. So far, Worthy has added a decent championship-level right back in Louis-Jean, a guy who was man of the match in Wigan''s last game of the season in Jarrett and a proven goalscorer in Peter Thorne...all for nothing. There''s still plenty of time until we kick off so let''s get behind the team and stop the sniping.
  12. Easton is definitely in there, purely for his performance against B''ham in Cardiff. Rivers? I reckon Doherty must be a contender
  13. Worst Norwich 9 ever? erm.....don''t mean to be rude but 11 is spelt XI in roman numerals. Clint Easton not worthy of a place for his performance vs Brum in Cardiff?
  14. This was the Fulham team last Saturday. Rosenior is out suspended for Sunday''s game. Got to fancy it haven''t we? Van der Sar, Volz, Knight, Goma, Rosenior, Radzinski, Malbranque, Pembridge, Clark, Boa Morte, McBride. And Crouch being out is a huge relief. GOD I CAN''T WAIT.
