  1. Yes, the report was perfectly timed to cause embarrassment for Yousaf, the SNP and the Greens in Scotland in their apparent ideological promotion of the trans agenda and their attempts to suppress any alternate dissenting views through the ridiculous hate crime act.
  2. You can assume whatever you want, sunshine, just as I could make assumptions about people who were seemingly very happy to march alongside Jew-hating, pro-Islamist, Hamas supporters.
  3. And this is why I, and presumably many others, have had profound misgivings about NCFC (and football in general) embracing such things as LGBTQ+ Pride month, rainbow laces etc because of the implicit requirement to unquestioningly accept, support and celebrate the whole trans agenda, despite the clear and obvious harm it can cause to highly impressionable and vulnerable youngsters.
  4. Contrary to the predictable naysaying and accusations of whataboutery, it’s entirely appropriate to compare the establishment and subsequent history of Pakistan with that of Israel. And you’re absolutely right that there’s absolutely no call from the usual suspects for Pakistan to be disestablished or even for it to stop meddling in Kashmir. And this makes me question whether the outrage and intolerance that the Muslim world (and many on the left) heap on Israel would exist at all if it had been an Islamic nation, and I suspect the answer would be a resounding no. And why is this? Quite simply because of the clear Islamic teaching of hatred for the Jews and consequently the whole premise for Muslim opposition to the existence of Israel since it was founded in 1948 is based purely and simply on antisemitism.
  5. And time that some people stopped bending over backwards to blame Israel for the whole sorry situation despite the fact that it’s faced a permanent existential threat since 1948.
  6. And supporting Hawkwind were the rather wonderful Solstice. An uplifting fusion of prog/folk/funk/rock, they’re truly excellent.
  7. I share your opinion that important public utilities should be in public ownership, but that said I don’t think that would have made the slightest difference to the ongoing train strikes, organised and coordinated by hardline union leaders largely for political purposes on the pretext of protecting working conditions, many of which are ridiculously outdated. I agree with Yellow Fever - sack the lot of them and start again a few weeks later with new, fit for purpose, terms and conditions.
  8. Hawkwind last night. Magnificent and unique.
  9. Do you advocate the same approach with Gary Glitter’s music?
  10. Didn’t Lawrence Fox, self-promoting idiot that he may be, cause exactly such a Twitter pile on for his own “playful” version of the rainbow Pride flag? After all, haven’t The Met decreed that swastikas need to be taken in context?
  11. Although presumably homosexuality is legal in Gaza and gay marriage recognised (as it is in Israel), because otherwise why would Queers for Palestine take part in the marches alongside the Hamas supporters?
  12. Angry? I’m not the one who’s been on the hate-marches in London.
  13. Yes, war is horrible and some innocent people suffer dreadfully. But spare us the Banksy-style propaganda.
  14. There’s never been a country called Palestine.
  15. Why is this not a proscribed organisation?: https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2024/03/30/minister-report-palestine-group-police-incitement-violence/
  16. I see that despite the UN appeasement vote, plenty of Hamas-supporting scumbags were out on the streets yesterday: https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2024/03/30/gaza-protesters-police-terror-suspect-arrest-london/
  17. Sadly that just demonstrates the widespread loathing of the UK within the activist left and certain ethnic groups, although I think we already knew that.
  18. Biggest gig for me later this year is Steve Hackett at the Royal Albert Hall, but greatly looking forward to Big Big Train in September.
  19. With The Staves and The Levellers it’s bound to be good. Saw them both at the Cambridge Folk Festival a few years ago - excellent.
  20. Last gig I went to was Morganway (last month). They’re an Americana band hailing from North Norfolk and Cambridge. Well worth seeing if you get the chance.
  21. Off to see Hawkwind next Thursday. Probably my last opportunity considering Dave Brock is in his eighties.
  22. I agree with that description of events. So, in summary, a straight-talking bloke, who’s not exactly flavour of the month, engages mouth before brain and says some stuff, with no ill-will intended, that some other people take exception to. But is it a hanging offence?
  23. So, non-religious, non-nationalistic and something that doesn’t glorify our colonial past but with a catchy, memorable and uplifting tune. Just off the top of my head, how about this: Ingerland, Ingerland, Ingerland. Ingerland, Ingerland, Ingerla-and. Ingerland, Ingerland, Ingerland. Ingerla-and, Ingerland. The second verse could be along similar lines to the first.
