  1. This. Vaxx efficacy is related to immune system's functioning. Competitive athletes immune systems are often struggling to cope with stress. They're fit, but their immune systems are constantly under strain. I'm worried that our players haven't gotten their 2nd shots which would protect from long covid. On the margin a 5% drop in aerobic capacity does not impair a normal person, but it will end a pro footballer's career. Symptomless covid infections are known to damage lung and cardiac tissue, and cause brain damage, fatigue etc. It is no joke. Season is one thing but we are talking about lives and livelihoods here.
  2. Let's hope they were all vaxxed atleast once. Even so, we could statistically speaking see one or two of the 7 miss the first few weeks. If we get really unlucky - e.g. Teemu gets hit by long covid - our season could be ruined before the first game. The absolute worst case scenario is a career ending disability. Cross fingers.
  3. Started from being openly gay in sports, got through the 'I'm not homophobic but I wish they didn't exist' part and by pg 2 we're now at the tax deduction phase of discussion. Pretty efficient. What we need now is the resident pepe bridade to bring on the funny memes.
  4. Emi threw toys out of pram last year. He relented and committed to Norwich's season after a few weeks. No doubt in large part because of assurances he'd be released if an acceptable offer was received. We got 2 such offers, from Arsenal and Villa. Not selling him would've damaged our business model by making it more difficult to recruit. Reputation as a developer of promising careers is one of our main assets. Probably worth as much as all physical infra combined.
  5. Vaccine induced immunity is stronger than infection derived "immunity". It is not even close.
  6. No the best thing is to ask for advice if unsure - though this may not be correct venue for it - and in case of massive exposure assume you have contracted the virus regardless of vaxx status and follow proper procedures.
  7. You were probably infected but it was asymptomatic - like majority of fully vaxxed. I hope you didn't hang around any unvaxxed people - or any people whatsoever - because you are able to transmit the virus to others and never know about it.
  8. All of those are reasonable concerns and you are of course right that Webber is on the look for the best possible striker. Anxiety about dependence on Pukki is not new, nor are attempts to alleviate that anxiety. There have been numerous attempts to either share Teemu's burden or give him competition. That was the main topic during 19/20 when it became clear Teemu was worn down, culminating around his toe injury. Ditto for his struggles early last season when even Pinkun journalists capitulated on him. He proceeded to score 26. Considering his output and defensive contribution, his direct replacement and competition could be too expensive. Well over £20M. More realistic is to sign someone who on good day can match Teemu's normal contribution, and on average is no more than a step behind. I think Adam Armstrong is such a player, with potential to match or even surpass Teemu in the future. He is similar enough to Teemu that he could be dropped in and perform well. I think Adam would be available for a price that we could just about afford. Over £15M but under £20M.
  9. I'll take the opposite view. I think we're a sleeper. Excluding absences, we were better than most think in 19/20, and kept improving until March 2020. Forget events between March and August 2020. It has no bearing on anything due to Covid effect. The real Norwich City was failing with dignity in March 2020, but showing improvement that continued in Champs 20/21. Even as it stands, we are already better squad than in 19/20. I don't know if Milot Rashica can match Emi's PL contribution, but it is not out of the question. Emi wasn't nearly as good then as he is now. I get such a good feeling about Gilmour that I think we may already be better off in midfield than in 19/20. Defensively it is not even close. We have actual non-crippled CBs. CB is arguably the most difficult position to fill and we've even got a prospect in Omobamidele. Don't know if he's next Ben Godfrey, but basically if he showed up at all, he'd beat Godfrey's contribution to us in half of the games. Hanley is on v3.0. Don't know what has happened to him but I like the updates. Zimmermann gets s*** on for some weird reason but his recovery turned things around defensively in late 2019. Ok, he may be 4th option, but there's a difference between 4th CB and a midfielder LARPing a CB. He can hold up the fort when necessary. We've got Gibson, who has been solid. Fullbacks...if we get to keep Max, we're ahead of 19/20 already. If we lose Max, rightbacks are not a rarefied commodity like CBs. Fast, technical rightbacks are, which is why we'd net so much from selling Max. We don't need an exceptionally fast and technical RB. I'm not counting on Byram's fitness atleast for 1st half of 21/22, but if Farke says it could happen...it could happen. He was a bright spot in 19/20. We're not invulnerable, but we are ok. 19/20 we were Wiley Coyote who ran through ManC into canyon without parachute. They "found us out" by figuring out we did not have defenders and any sort of pressure on us would topple us so they didn't have to deal with Teemu and Emi. We could not get the ball off our own side. Wow they sure got to us by not...selling us any CBs cheap? What about offense? That is the question, isn't it? I'm not stupid. There is a reason I have a recurring fantasy of Webber borrowing lots of money to sign us Adam Armstrong. More likely to squeeze blood out of stone...or sell Max? The reason I think we are a sleeper is that we've performed so well 20/21 except against some teams like Watford. Watford is geared against us and I think we are going to face Mid-lower table clubs in PL who don't understand that. They think we're lightweights. I think we are going to face teams who are less prepared for our offense than some in Champs. Hence, if Teemu is fit most of the season and our defense solid, we're not going to get relegated. If he gets injured or overburdened, we're playing Champs next year. Sign Adam Armstrong and we're hedged against latter scenario.
  10. Hugill didn't look clumsy to me. Actually I have nothing but good things to say about his performance yesterday.
  11. I hate these rumours. They make me think £25M would give us Armstrong and a RB. I want two top drawer strikers on field to smite our enemies.
  12. 1, 2, 4, 8, 16, 32, 64, 128, 256, 512, 1024, 2048, 4096, 8192, 16384, 32768, 65536, 131072, 262144, 524288, 1048576, 2097152, 4194304, 8388608, 16777216, 33554432, 67108864, 134217728, 268435456, 536870912, 1073741824, 2147483648, 4294967296, 8589934592
  13. Rupp, Hugill, Gilmour, Mumba, Cantwell, Dowell impressed. Defense didn't have much to do, so can't judge. Rashica looked a bit rough, but warmed up during game noticeably. Gilmour took to it like duck to water.
  14. Could be that the club is holding its cards particularily close to chest this transfer season. So far I've liked the surprises.
  15. He was (is?) a stand up comedian who hosted Fear Factor, and became a prominent UFC commentator. Now he's basically the biggest podcaster on planet. Far from a meathead. He has some odd takes on things, but generally he lets his guests talk and asks smart questions.
  16. A m e n. I'd also add that xG's considered, Teemu (and Todd) did ok 19/20 and the rest of the squad badly underperformed. Teemu scores from inside the box. That is the key. He can't dribble half the field to get there. Someone needs to pass him the ball. Can't do that if you keep losing the ball in your own half of the court. Solidify defense and low midfield. Have a solid 2nd striker to relieve Teemu so he doesn't burn out. Not sure Idah is up to the task yet. Adam Armstrong could potentially be long term replacement for Teemu. Worth £15-20M? I don't know. At £12M or so it is a no brainer to me. Do things right and we could be out of relegation competition by November and never look back.
  17. Did you hear Billy Gilmour who is 20 already was just loaned from Chelsea to some upstart club and said polite things about it. Somebody should make a thread and laugh at him and that club...Narwick Village was it?
  18. The more I read about happenings in and outside Wembley, the more the result seems like justice having been served. Booing during national anthem, stealing seats from Italian fans, racist abuse, laser pointers, fighting... You would not see that in Germany or any continental non-ex-eastern block country. Compare that to the behaviour of Finnish and Danish fans during and after Erikssen's collapse. For shame.
  19. That the quality of average Norwich City fan is much higher than England's and it should discourage degenerates' bandwagoning as much as possible. Edit. clarification, meant fans present in stadiums, e.g. Carrow Road vs Webley. The distinction is important.
  20. It's sad, because most English fans are top tier.
  21. You should have more confidence in the accuracy of your self-reflection.
  22. England national team can hold their heads high. The same can't be said for some of England's supporters. What an embarrassment. https://www.theguardian.com/football/2021/jul/11/euro-2020-final-wembley-fans-break-barrier-england-italy
  23. You guys need to look at Italy to find the reason England lost. They came back from halftime a new team. England faced a superior opponent and it went to pens. That's an achievement. A great national team full of young players... England's future looks very bright.
  24. That was a pen. Referee is balancing the home advantage.
