  1. I went last season, it was a night game and after the match walked straight out and back to my car, no problem. Was away back on the M6 in 10-15 minutes.
  2. About 170 miles from Bracknell, or "West Ascot" as the local like to call it!
  3. Almost as laughable as you thinking Pardew is still at West Ham!
  4. The club are going about this the correct way. I don''t believe Grant could have been sacked prior to last night. Grant has publicly said he plans to ''assess the situation'', and until he does so, it would be foolish for the club to make any comment. If Grant decides to walk then there is no financial penalty to the club. If he decides to stay, then the club, if they wish to part company with Grant, have the option to still terminate his contract but this incurs a hefty financial penalty. Why pay someone off when there''s a good chance they''ll walk without being pushed?
  5. I went for the FA Vase Final last Sunday between Totton and Truro. I''ve got no affiliation to either team, but thought it would be good to see the stadium and I wasn''t let down. Really looking forward to going again next Friday for England v Brazil, to see it full will be superb. One game I did find a touch odd to be at recently was Southampton v Derby, playoff first leg, but a friend has a spare ticket and I thought why not, and it was a decent game.
  6. I''m not a fan of the identikit stadiums that the likes of Southampton, Hull, Derby, Leicester, Coventry, Stoke etc. now have. True they offer better facilities, but they are often too big for the club and you end up with large areas of empty seats and a poor atmosphere. Personal favorites for me in the Championship next season are: Plymouth - Good trip, ground is new but not the same as all the others and some good traditional local pubs Cardiff - You can stand, always good, and the locals are no where near as bad as is often made out. Again some really nice local pubs too. Sheffields - Both decent stadiums and a nice city now after lots of investment Colchester - Reminds me of going to see Lowestoft at the Crown Meadow!
  7. Would also mean we could no longer use the 22:00 train back to London for midweek games and have to drive... think of what that would do to my Carbon Footprint!
  8. Would Norwich really allow scouts in the directors box? I know we''re an odd club at times, but I really don''t think so!
  9. A quick google search... From the Pink''Un Awarded against City skipper Craig Fleming when Ricardo Fuller''s flick rose up against his arm from no more than two yards distance, it was the fact that referee Probert insisted on the penalty being taken again after a Southampton player clearly encroached and Robert Green clearly saved that infuriated the visitors. A QPR fans site As the season progresses all referees from QPR games will be rated out of ten and positioned on the league table below. You can click on the official for their match report from this site. Who will win the Lee Probert award for crass incompetence this season? My money''s on Lee Probert! Coventry v Derby match report Coventry boss Micky Adams was left frustrated and unhappy with referee Lee Probert, who waved away strong claims for a penalty when Leon McKenzie went down under a challenge from Dean Leacock shortly before John''s leveller. "It was a stonewall penalty but the referee said he was not in a position to see it. That''s Mr Probert - we always seem to have problems with him," said Adams, as he picked over the pieces of a third consecutive defeat. Another dodgy decision for Derby this season Ten became 11 for Howard two minutes later when he converted a penalty. Stead wriggled free and was fouled by St Ledger. Referee Lee Probert gave a penalty with St Ledger claiming the foul was just outside the area. From a Brighton match report Referee Lee Probert incurred the wrath of the Withdean faithful with some strange decisions. He booked five Albion players in an hour and yet allowed Unsworth to escape punishment for a blatant body-check on Carole which was not even penalised with a free-kick. He''s annoyed Swindon too Manager Dennis Wise was livid with referee Lee Probert though, as the official appeared poised to blow for the interval, well beyond the two additional minutes indicated. However, I suppose it''s not all bad... Ipswich thought they had equalised three minutes after the break when Alan Lee forced Aidan Davison into a fine save and Jon Macken scrambled in the rebound. The referee Lee Probert ruled it out for pushing on the goalkeeper but television replays suggested otherwise. The list just goes on and on...
  10. Exactly, that is my point. The stubs must be presented as the club do not hold the information about the games each supporter went to. For example, I bought 5 tickets for Luton. I only gave my customer number as the game was on general sale, so the club do not know who the other 4 were for.
  11. On a Saturday London (and Birmingham New St. for that mater) is swarming with fans from all teams. I pass through either Liverpool St. if heading to Norwich, or Euston/Kings Cross/St. Pancras if heading North to games, and there''s never any trouble. Often when we get back to Liverpool St. the Ipswich fans are waiting for trains back to Suffolk. You might get a few verbals, but that''s it. Nothing the BTP can''t cope with.
  12. This season only three league away games used/will use the priority system (Ipswich, Southend and Luton). Tickets for the likes of Luton, Palace, QPR all went direct to general sale. It''s just a case of having to be on the ball, and getting tickets when they first go on sale.
  13. There will never be a system that everyone is happy with, but I believe the current approach is as good as any. The problem with loyalty points is that a supporter who is unable to attend a match, be it for whatever reason, can suddenly find themselves well down the order. The 10 away stubs from the previous season approach works as it equates to around half of the matches in a season, and that indicates that the person is a regular away traveller. If say Blackpool this season was worth 4 times as much as Luton, Southend, Colchester and Ipswich, all on the doorstep of most City fans, then someone who was unable to make Blackpool does not deserve to be worse of than someone who could not make Southend. The only way to improve the system would be to add in a "5 away stubs" group, but that would be too much extra work for very little gain. Finally, someone asked the question why stubs must be registered. The reason is because lots of people buy tickets for groups. I''m part of a regular group of 5-10 people who take it in turns to buy the away tickets, and unless the match is one that requires the priority system, all tickets go in the name of the purchaser, not each individual.
  14. Join the Capital Canaries, and it''s then only £9 return from London to Norwich on a Saturday, plus whatever they charge from Soton to Waterloo. www.capitalcanaries.com
  15. Anyone got any idea as to who we''re playing at HOME pre-season? The away games have been well publicised, but no mention on when or who we''re playing at home.
  16. On Saturday Steve Foley was at the Lowestoft Town v Bury game. He often goes along to those sort of games when he can to see how the ex-City kids are getting on. On Saturday Woodrow scored a couple, one a cracker, for Town. I don''t know much, but have a few links from inside the club through various sources and some people put this bad season down to Foley''s health as he was the one who made us play good football. My personal view is a fully fit and focused Foley, especially during the closed season last summer, would have seen us now preparing to play again on Friday night.
  17. I don''t see what the problem is. For a time ntl: sponsored both Celtic and Rangers at the same time, and they are the most bitter of rivals. Also don''t forget we could play Exeter City in the cup too...
  18. Norwich site: "This is such an exciting deal for us and we are proud to be behind a club with such huge potential," said Flybe''s director of marketing Simon Lilley. "The people in Norwich have been extremely supportive of Flybe so we are pleased we can give something back to the community" "We are passionate about the communities we serve and passionate about supporting football as a cornerstone of the region. As two of the largest brands in Norwich we look forward to the next few seasons and hope to see the Canaries fly up the league table!" Saints site: Simon Lilley, Director of Marketing, Flybe, commented: "This is such an exciting deal for us and we''re proud to be behind a club with such huge potential. The people in Southampton have been extremely supportive of Flybe so we''re pleased we can give something back to the community. At Flybe we are passionate about the communities we serve and passionate about supporting football as a cornerstone of the region. As two of the largest brands in Southampton we look forward to the next few seasons and hope to see the Saints fly up the league table!
  19. He missed the Stoke game because he was injured. Shackell came in and did a good job, and kept his place in the team at Leeds. If Shackell had of been dropped, everyone would be moaning about that too.
  20. In response to the question as to why the Ipswich youth system is so much better than ours, I think a lot of it is down to the Ipswich selection area including all of the London area, whereas ours finished just north of the capital excluding hundreds and hundreds of talented kids who are not quite up to the standard of your Arsenal, Spurs or Chelsea.
