littleyellowbirdie 3,148 Posted May 28, 2014 Interesting piece on the Sky Sports website from Russel Martin.Kind of suggests to me that keeping Snodgrass here at least for another year might be likelier than I thought. Would be very pleased about that personally.
pliff 4 Posted May 28, 2014 Even happier if Martin goes

littleyellowbirdie 3,148 Posted May 28, 2014
how does it suggest this?
Martin said that Snodgrass was happy at Norwich. If he''s happy then it raises the likelihood that he''d be committed for a serious push in the coming year if we choose not to agree a transfer, even if it might result in him going on a free transfer next year if he wants to move on at that point. Writing off a few million quid transfer fee for the sake of keeping a player on that does improve our chances of getting back to the Premier League is a worthwhile risk in my eyes. Newton 0 Posted May 28, 2014 This should read that Snodgrass is happy to stay one more year because he can leave on a free next summer and demand a £1M plus signing on fee from his next clubIf he does not sign contract extension over next 4 weeks needs to be shipped out to the highest bidder and funds reinvested in the squad

It all goes back to the fact that the highest bidder isn''t likely to be offering that much because he only has a year left. He''ll still need to work hard to attract the interest and get the best deal for next year. He turned Norwich down on first approach because he signed up for a promotion push at Leeds that didn''t work out because the club didn''t invest adequately. Mind you, if we could get him to extend in exchange for the Captain''s armband then so much the better.
STAN 30 Posted May 28, 2014 We all knew Snoddy was/is happy at Norwich. He was also happy at Leeds. But he also wants to be playing PL football, which is why he signed for Norwich in the first place.

His desire to win in the last 4 games suggest to me he had the desire that many were lacking. He is far to good for the champ so is an asset we must keep. Highland Canary 78 Posted May 29, 2014 Agreed Skittles - next year is our best chance of promotion why try to sabotage our chances further?
ZLF 342 Posted May 29, 2014 All fine sentiment but little factual there. When hull or someone else puts a bid in we will soon see what the truth really is.Words are wind.
