Le Bob 0 Posted June 5, 2013 Just saw Andy Marshall got released from villa. Was amazed he''s still about- must have been 3rd or 4th choice. He''s 38 according to wikipedia.
crabbycanary 2 Posted June 5, 2013 For me the fact that Richard Wright is at Man City is even more amazing
Smeg 0 Posted June 5, 2013 both of them were signed just to make up the homegrown player quota

chicken 0 Posted June 5, 2013 Whilst I''d love Smeg''s response to be true, it isn''t.Just look at Villa''s squad, there are enough homegrown players in there. The reality is they were both on freebies when they were signed and are probably relatively inexpensive. It wouldn''t surprise me if Marshall retires although he may go on for another couple of seasons further down the footballing ladder. AJ 1,359 Posted June 5, 2013 Hadn''t Marshall been there for a few years now?
chicken 0 Posted June 5, 2013 Yup - since 2009. And he''s played not once for them, competitively at least. It''s just a case of wanting a 3rd choice, inexpensive goalkeeper. At 34 he could still be called upon. As a freebie they could afford to give him wages he probably could only have dreamed of elsewhere and the only football he gets would have been the old reserve sides and training. Nice little earner before quietly putting down the gloves and hanging up the boots.
