KeelansGlove 0 Posted February 25, 2013 Would expect Manu to offer more going forward than Everton with or without RVP.People are saying that 4-4-2 didnt work and implying it has something to do with the strikeforce, for me the 2 main reasons were clear Wes on the left and Howson. My team would be as followsHoltKamara/Pilks Hoolahan SnoddgrassJohnson Tettey/Whittaker/FoxGarrido Bassong Turner MartinBunn
Salopian 1 Posted February 25, 2013 I think that CH will go for a lone striker again for this match, with both Becchio and Kamara ready to come on if we need to chase the game or provice fresh legs. So Wes should be back, and prbably Tettey if he has recovered from his knock.
KeelansGlove 0 Posted February 25, 2013 I would agree 4-4-2 at Old trafford might be foolhardy. The option of Kamara on the left might give us more going forward without being less defensive. He played mainly wide for Kansas City.
Tim Allman 1 Posted February 25, 2013 I think City will revert to a 4-2-3-1 formation with Becchio dropping to the bench and either Howson or Tettey for the other place in the 2.
Six Pack 105 Posted February 25, 2013 Kamara appeals to me on the left as well so looks a decent team that you have on paper. Not sure if KK is fit enough to last 90 minutes though. If he can only do 45 then 2nd half impact sub would be the way to go.Becchio has a bit to offer in the air but nothing at all on the ground. I wouldn''t sacrifice any of our attacking midfielders for him - we''ll lose too much skill wise. Just cannot see him causing the havoc KK did.BJ will be an important figure for us if we serious about getting something from the game. Really rough them up and put them off their game. Yelloow Since 72 56 Posted February 25, 2013 I also think that CH will go back to 4-2-3-1. Not sure whether Tettey will be fit, but Howson or even Whittaker might fill in there. KK to come on in the second half again, hopefully to do what he did when he last played against ManUre (1 goal and 1 assist) in a 2-1 win for KC during ManUre''s pre-season tour in the US. That would do nicely!
AJ 1,358 Posted February 25, 2013 I would imagine we will start like;BunnMartin Turner Bassong GarridoSnodgrass Johnson Howson PilkingtonHoolahoopHoltWith Kamara most likely coming off the bench again (Hughton says he''s not fit enough to start yet)
KeelansGlove 0 Posted February 25, 2013 Agreed thats probably most likely although I really hope we have a better option than Howson, its not what he does wrong its just I cant point to would he actually adds to anything at either end of the pitch. Just messes around in Midfield with no substantial tackling or incisive passing forward. Gives Whittaker a go as DM hasd played there for Rangers , scored a cracker against Swansea not to mention one of our best defenders when hes played.
Highland Canary 78 Posted February 25, 2013 Agree with AJ over the likely starting formation. Obviously, anything other than a thrashing a good result! I think Man U CL match may help a bit but they have a superb record at Old Trafford. Looking forward to it!
