I am a Banana 0 Posted January 11, 2013 This is the problem with being in the Premier League rather than league 1 / Championship. We can''t play them in the prem as they wont be up to it yet. League 1 they would probably get a fair few games and likewise in the championship. As much as being in the prem is great for the club, the youngsters are going to struggle to get into the first team!!
Mr Brownstone 0 Posted January 11, 2013 If they are good enough they''ll get in.
Gnasher 0 Posted January 11, 2013 4-0, Jacob hat-trick. Got high hopes for these two!

How do you know if someone''s ready unless you try them? If you are a manager and you are not sure whether someone is ready, yet don''t try them, then you''ll never know. Some managers seem a lot more reluctant than others to try out youngsters. Your point about youngsters struggling to get into the first team is far from the problem that you portray it as. Yes, correct, we aren''t in League One or the Championship anymore, but 40 odd other clubs are and there are such things as loans. Not mentioning our category one academy status. Hopefully we will see some youngsters who are good enough to break into the first team in the Premier League. I also don''t recall that many academy players breaking into the first team irrelevant of what division we have been in over the past 10 or so years anyway?[:^)]
Gnasher 0 Posted January 11, 2013 Another prospect Loza makes it 5-

Gnasher 0 Posted January 11, 2013 Probably just about FT. Be interested to see who assisted the goals too.
Mr Brownstone 0 Posted January 11, 2013 Great to see the academy producing some decent prospects!
Gnasher 0 Posted January 11, 2013 Finished 5-0. More performances like this and surely will be looking to get some time off the bench at some point. Its usual to loan out and build up (and i realise this isn''t the best comparison) but look at what BR has done with Sterling etc.
I am a Banana 0 Posted January 11, 2013 This is 1 of the benefits of making the reserve league into an under 21 league. Players like Loza and the Murphy bros get game time which the club can control much easier than sending them out on loan. I also believe that the U21 league is a better quality than the old format reserve league?!
Alex Moss 2,167 Posted January 11, 2013 Crikey, who was managing Stoke tonight, Paul Lambert?. Great result - Well done you Canary U21''s !
Baracouda 47 Posted January 11, 2013 With the 7 sub formats, I believe at least 1 place can be reserved for a youngster. The odd game, should aid progression.
Andrew Spanton 1 Posted January 11, 2013 I went to the game tonight (no, I''m not mad enough to travel that far - I live in Nantwich where the game was played). The Murphy brothers were indeed impressive, Josh especially so in the first half and Jacob as well in the second. However they were playing against a very poor side. There were also very good performances from other players such as Michael Clunan, Olu Durojaiye, Jamar Loza, Cameron King and Harry Toffolo. It''s the first time I''ve seen the under 21s and nothing can be concluded from one match but the Murphys would be worth a try at the next level up. Maybe a league two club on loan next season would be the way to go.I noticed that they worked very well together and actively looked to switch play to each other. It would be interesting to see how they get on when split up on loan.Anyway, great to see a convincing 5-0 win away from home!
