Rustyboy 2 Posted December 7, 2012 Does a good song for a player help them perform better rather than the boring “Morison, Morison” “Ruddy, Ruddy” “Leon, Leon” songs?I can think of some average players that had good songs who were always a crowd’s favourite and raised their game when their chants were sung.Thoughts? Vazzza 62 Posted December 7, 2012 Interesting thought. I think it goes a long way to making the players "feel at home". The article on the pinkun today about Garrido wanting to stay shows that really well.I suppose it does make you perform better. If you have thousands of fans singing your name it would definteily give you a lift. Not sure if it makes any difference if its a "boring" name chant, or a proper song though. I''ll let you know next time it happens to me.... [;)]I loved the Safri song, and Safri aswell come to mention it!
Grant Holts Moustache 113 Posted December 7, 2012 I think it must help a little, Wes has spoken of him singing along when the fans sing for him. Also when we do get behind the team you can see they do respond and this can have a real galvanising effect with both fans and players. We do however seem to be lacking any creativity and new songs and have done for the last year and a half. Even MacNamee had a song but guys like Pilks are yet to get the same treatment from fans. Nexus_Canary 1,206 Posted December 7, 2012 Anyone who says that the are not encouraged or given confidence by people chanting their name is lying to be fair. Im sure many sports psychologists will refer to sporting performance based around positive or negative crowd reaction. Jason Lee "hes got a pineapple on his head" is a good example of crowd chants getting to a player.TBH its probably more motivational to have your name chanted than some daft rhyming song ? And you have to live under a rock if you dont know my opinion on our current "chants" or losely named "songs"
Google Bot 3,927 Posted December 7, 2012 I think it helps the team as a whole, not just the individual in certain cases. For example i''m sure it provided the players with a good laugh in the changing rooms when King of Spain used to get regularly chanted at Lappin. SwindonCanary 457 Posted December 7, 2012 When MacNamee was asked his fav. song by the fans he said it was the one Norwich sung for him, well done to who ever came up with that one and can you come up with some more please ?
