Yellow Green Army 248 Posted May 30, 2012 Just been looking at some of the players out of contract this summer. Some very experienced and talented players that would certainly add to what we have got. Just depends if lambert could persuade them to come, also wages a big stumbling block I would imagine. Anyway here are some suggestions - Danny Guthrie, Junior Hoilet, Hugo Rodallega, Paul Scharner, Kyle Naughton, Mohammed Diame, James Mcfadden, Ricardo Fuller, Ryan Nelsen. AJ 1,359 Posted May 30, 2012 All of those suggestions, whilst some of them good ones, will probably all go to other clubsGuthrie is good, but probably wouldn''t come here, plus we''ve signed Howson in a similar mould. Junior Hoilet is destined for the big time, probably with one of the top four if he stays in EnglandRodallega is getting on in age, and will be on massive wagesNot personally a fan of Scharner, nor think he''s better than what we''ve got.Diame will probably go to another Prem side, I feel his wages would probably be too high.Ricardo Fuller hasn''t been a success at this level, and is no better than what we currently have.Nelsen will no doubt go to another top team, and again, I don''t feel he is any better than what we have or have been rumoured to sign. The only one definitely worth a shot is Kyle Naughton, who may well come here if we decide to settle a fee through tribunal with Spurs do to his age. Again though, I fear he will go to a team higher up the table than us, because he certainly is going to become a big premier league player.James McFadden would be an interesting one, but I feel again his wage demands would probably be too much for us just yet. Morisons Prozac 0 Posted May 30, 2012 Diame is the player our midfield is screaming out for. Would love it if we could get Naughton back as well. All the others are either no good or too good.
Indy_Bones 444 Posted May 30, 2012 Naughton''s contract isn''t up until next summer, so there''s no chance we''ll get him on a free, and the rest are either very average, too expensive in terms of wages and/or transfer fee, or will go to other clubs first. GJP 79 Posted May 30, 2012
Rodallega is getting on in age, and will be on massive wages
Rodallega is 26 (27 in July). Good player but doesn''t score enough goals and he probably is on a decent whack (as you point out).
AJ 1,359 Posted May 30, 2012 GJP, I thought he was a bit older than that, my bad. I still don''t think he''s better than what we have though.Agree about Diame, but sadly I doubt we''d get him here, and again, wages would probably be above us.None of these players, bar Naughton, are the type of player Lambert seems to go for really
chicken 0 Posted May 30, 2012 You missed Louis Saha. Will be interesting to see where he goes. He has goals in him but has a bit of a dodgey fitness reccord. Still him and Holt would be a good pairing and would have goals in them. The thing about wages with free agents is that as you are not paying a fee for them you can afford to put some of that money saved into their wages. You also have to remember that if no one is offering better they may be open to dropping down in wages to maintain staying at a higher level of football. Players like Saha could be Huckerby-esque in that they have earn''t the bucks already and just playing in the top flight on a regular basis could be enough for them.
