unique 466 Posted May 6, 2012 PL''s appearance on ''Goals on Sunday'' couldn''t be timed better. No other Premier League match to discuss from yesterday, and the opportunity for Norwich fans to bask in the lavish praise that will surely be heaped on the team after yesterday''s unbelievable performance.Every player seemed on top of their game, and the energy of the team belied the fact that it was the penultimate game of the season. If McCleish was watching the game, then he will surely be hoping for some points against Spurs today. If Hodgson was watching it, then there is very little hope for the immediate future of England if he picks Crouch ahead of Holt in his opening squad.Individual performances should not be singled out,However, Ryan Bennett looked far more assured in the centre of defence with Russell Martin.Martin has been a revelation whenever he has played in the centre this season. For Lappin to step up to the mark, and more, on the few occasions he has been selected to play, must surely secure his position in the squad for next season. Many neutral supporters are proclaiming yesterday''s game as one of the best football matches this season. After a slight dip in form, PL put together a team with the perfect balance of skill, energy and work-rate that has left every Canary supporter very proud this weekend. BGG&YPOS 0 Posted May 6, 2012 Great post, also we are the only team to score more than 2 at the Emirates Stadium this season [:D]
lincoln canary (& Golden Coppel) 0 Posted May 6, 2012 Thought Simeon Jackson made a huge difference for us yesterday. Definitely has a premier league future with us. Just needs a good run of games, he looked very sharp.
Canary_on_the Trent 0 Posted May 6, 2012 I''m not sure Simeon Jackson has much of a future as we look to push on because of his lack of composure but his pace & work-rate this season has been invaluable. He stretches teams, brings the best out of Holt & allows the midfield space to play in. The goals aren''t coming at this level but his general link-play has improved ten-fold over the last 12-18 months.
Gingerpele 0 Posted May 6, 2012 If Jackson had Holts finishing, he would be an invaluable asset. He just seems to lose his composure when he''s in good areas. Its a shame as his pace, work rate, positioning are all very good.To be honest, I can''t remember him needing lots of chances to score goals last season, when he was in form, he just seemed to be in the right place and got the shot right. This season, apart from once or twice, he''s never really been a danger in the six yard area, his shooting after he takes a player on is average. If Vaughan can play like Jackson does, but add a better finish to the mix, then unfortunately Jackson won''t be getting much game time.
Bury Yellow 2 Posted May 6, 2012 I hope Lambo keeps faith with Jackson. His pace causes all sorts of problems. The team look so much more threatening and balanced going forward when he plays. The way we approached the game yesterday was spot on in that Jacko and Holt started and pulled their defence all over the place, eventually being replaced by Moro and Alby.I think Jacko will be an important squad player next season
smooth 114 Posted May 6, 2012 We will be buying a new striker, maybe two this summer. I do expect that they will be above Jacko in the pecking order. He does have pace but it is not premiership pace, he certainly does not have the finishing and has shown he hasn''t got that over 2 seasons. He is a good player, but for me he is a mid championship standard forward but I would some clubs he wouldn''t be a starter, Leicester he would not start, Leeds he wouldn''t start either. But we can become hyper critical because of where we are and the achievements we have had. Jackson had an amazing April last year, but does not have enough to be considered a player who will have a big impact next season. The performance and energy was superb, there are mistakes that we will still learn from, central midfield can get a bit more snappy and our defence will be getting better. But what a performance, amazing, amazing!!!!
Old Shuck 291 Posted May 6, 2012 Yep, think that Jacko has done more than enough to merit his chances and opportunities here next season. A lot of players names are being bandied about as ones to get rid of in the Summer, some lists have as many as eight names on it and I''m sure a case could be argued for even more. Apart from the fact you can''t just sell a player unless he wants to go (on Prem wages after all) and we get an offer we find acceptable, we shouldn''t also be ripping the core out of a squad that has performed so very well this season because it is just that which has contributed to our success-the collective, not two or three individuals carrying us. Jacko has pace to spare and that is such as asset to any attacking player and his team. He pulls them on way and another, it leaves space for others-he''s part of the squad and he''s hooked into PL''s way of things. He, Holty, Morison, all big players for us again next season, no question-and, if, please, Vaughan is fit, then thats one new player needed in attack, no more than that though. Priority has to be signing Naughton permanently if we possibly can, although there are suggestions that this isn''t going to happen for whatever reasons-least of all the fact he might prefer to stay in and around London after a lengthy time away with Leicester and us. However, the thought of him in a QPR shirt next season, with also Southampton and Reading being mentioned in dispatches, that does worry me-would hate to think we aren''t doing our utmost to sign him if its at all possible.
