Howson and Surman

Recommended Posts

Does anyone know why Howson didn''t feature at all? Did he pick up a knock in training? I was really surprised he wasn''t playing especially after Lambert''s comments following the game last week.

As much as I like Surman and his creativity, I think he can be a liability, especially the defensive part of his game. On the clips I''ve seen on TV he is very often tracking back but unable to get close enough and get a tackle or block in when the opposition score. When Wigan scored it appeared he was in the penalty area doing just that. When Giggs scored 2 weeks ago, he could be seen standing beyond the far post watching as Giggs poked the ball home, although on that occasion it may have been Hoolahan who was mainly to blame. Surman''s attempts at tackling have to improve and I think he needs to be stronger. Obviously it is a team game and you can''t really blame any one individual for poor results and performances but we do have a relatively light-weight midfield and against Wigan there wasn''t enough steel to compliment are creative players.

Fox doesn''t win the ball very often, until a few weeks ago I couldn''t remember seeing him ever win the ball, but for some reason that hasn''t been picked up upon, yet Surman is a liability because he is unable to get a tackle or block in? If were going to call Surman a liability, then so is Fox, as his ball winning ability is no better in my eyes....

yeah, Howson was ill- was a shame because i think with him we may have played a 4 4 2. I expect him to start alongside Fox next week in the middle of the park.At the start of the season i was one of the Surman ''hatters'', however I think he has been one of our best players in the last couple of month. I do think he has gone off the boil in the last couple of games though and i would give him a rest. I would like to see us get two wingers on against Newcastle and lots of balls into the box for Morro and Holt to bang home!

Is Surman ''lightweight'' again now we haven''t won for a few games [:^)]

At least Morison is trying now [:|]

Aint that the truth.

Dear God, are all these critics perfect every time they turn up for work then?

Surman was lightweight, he never got stuck in and got knocked off the ball very easily. And he changed that. Why do people go on about it, like calling him lightweight was wrong? It wasn''t, he was.

And why would you think that Aaron Wilbraham is ''a real hero''?

Curious.

Because he is, simple as that. Do I really need a reason?

Yes.

Otherwise you would be taking his name in vain, one would think.

Well Bly I most certainly am not taking his name in vain. Aaron ''Wilbrahamovic'' Wilbraham is currently my favourite Norwich player.

Some are allowed to have more poor games than others. Some of our players are world beaters, even when the majority of us have never seen that player kick a ball in anger. Some are better strikers than the ones who are currently in the team, even though they have never outscored the players who are playing upfront for us at the moment in their whole professional career. You really couldn''t make it up!

Could have been worse. Might have been watching it on the radio like most of the Canary Call participants. Why don''t they get that ''phone taken out of the Lunatic Asylum?

I''ve said it before so will say it again.

More often than not its the formation. I understand the issues at hand which can at least at a basic level be seen as: our most rewarding formation Vs playing one to combat the opposition.

My feeling on this is that if you are playing against a team with good wide men you don''t want to be playing narrow in midfield effectively surrendering ground to them from the off.

That alone will make the midfield look off the pace as they are making up for an extra player.

I think Lambert needs to settle the side a bit. Its easy to rotate players in and out when you are winning but when you are trying to find form it can be tough.
