ncfcrule 0 Posted March 3, 2010 Ok, looking at the top scorers in the league, beckford and lambert, am i right in thinking that both of these players take penalties for their clubs? Yet they are only a few goals ahead of holt in the scoring charts. Obviously he has tacken the odd penalty(southend away) but mostly hoolahan. I don''t know how mahy penalties we have had but if holt had tacken them all he would have scored at least 30 already this season. What a signing he was!!!! O.T.B.C 0 Posted March 3, 2010 We''ve had this argument before, and as Smudge quite rightly pointed out, Lambert takes corners for some strange reason, so the spot kicks he takes balances out with his corners. Both very good league 1 players. Can they make the step up? Not sure yet.

Hence his screamer of a free kick.
Gibbo 131 Posted March 4, 2010 I think what he means is that Holt gets the opportunity to be on the end of corners, while with Lambert taking them - he doesn''t really get these chances :)
UEA Canary 0 Posted March 4, 2010 on the talk of pens, we aint had one in ages! dont think since colchester match, before that we couldnt stop getting them! sort it out refs!
Jacko 0 Posted March 4, 2010 The more relevant issue is that Holt is a team player who holds the ball up and worked the channels tirelessly. He winds up the opposition and gives his own team belief. Thats before you throw in his 25 goals this season. With the expection of his goals (and even then not as many) Jermain Beckford gives you none of this. norfolkbroadslim 223 Posted March 4, 2010 Your typical target man doesn''t usually score that many goals. You normally find in a team that plays with a couple of decent strikers -a ''target man'' and a more mobile strikerThat the ''target man'' may weigh in with 15 or so goals in a season and the more mobile partner 25+. I always assumed this was because the target man did all of the dirty work so to speak - providing a bit of muscle, unsettling defenders, harrying defenders, holding the ball, flicking the ball on etc. Which makes Holt''s goal tally all the more remarkable and he has missed 3 games due to suspension.
