open goal 0 Posted August 18, 2009 It says on the pinkun site that norwich will discuss compensation with COLU tommorow. It says on the Col U webside that paul resigned as he was desperate to take up the position at NCFC...Why would we have to pay any compensation?

open goal 0 Posted August 18, 2009 but he resigned.???If i quit from a job, and termiante my own contract, why would my new employer have to pay compensation....I would have thought had we needed to pay compensation, surely this would have been agreed before hand? National express super guard 0 Posted August 18, 2009
Because he was under contract to us!
Think you''ll find resigning means the contract ends. You could enforce his notice tho (gardening leave) so guess compensation is to stop that happening

Mr_Chimp 0 Posted August 18, 2009 Would imagine it has something to do with our approach for him as well, going by the Col Utd site.
Rocky Rocastle 0 Posted August 18, 2009 If Lambert resigns he has to pay penalty release clause which Norwich will pay....
Davness 0 Posted August 18, 2009 Can you imagine the reaction on here if Colchester appoint Coppell...
big ed 0 Posted August 18, 2009 Football is different to the real world. Contracts are put together by teams of legal bees who ensure that everyone (player/manager & club) are protected. It basically comes down to money. The more your paid and or are worth, the more conditions and protections are in place to safeguard against both parties (usually the club) getting shafted! colufan 0 Posted August 18, 2009 Footballers and managers are employed under fixed term contracts. The notice periods are the remainder of the contract - you can''t just "resign", hence the need for some compensation to be paid.It will get sorted I''m sure.
