OT: Looks like the 39th game idea could yet be resurrected

Recommended Posts

The Premier League bosses are ok with it, an now the head of the AFC, but there is still the small problem that the English FA has ''serious reservations'', UEFA have said it will not get their support and the head of FIFA has said ''it will not happen while I''m in office''.

Personally, I can''t see it going ahead in the format proposed.  The only way I can see it happening is if it is an exibition match, where the points don''t count towards the PL standings.  Look at last season, it Chelsea had to play Manure in the 39th game and Arsenal played Derby, it could have meant that Arsenal would have finished 3rd.  There would be no end of complaints.  All the teams that get drawn against strong opposition would protest.

Sorry, that should have said that Arsenal could have finished 2nd instead of 3rd

If it makes money it will happen, regardless of the objections.

By the way,Cam how do you feel about the Lambert appointment? Great player who always came across as a thinker in interviews....can he deliver?

Re Mr Lambert - he''s crashed the Col U message board[8-|]

Good player - Wycombe fans divided as to Manager.  I think he''s No 21 for me (give or take a few caretakers) so I''ll just wait and see.

Before the site crashed there  was already a LAMBERT OUT thread [+o(] but a lot of fans had talked themselves into believing it would be Curbishley or Holloway or Parky back so he wasn''t the "name" they were looking for.  If he gets results he''ll be okay - if we are still struggling by December/January I suspect he is in for a rough ride from the Barside Mob.

One or two of ours need a kick up the backside I think so if he can deliver that it might be a start.

We certainly should be doing better.  The team needs a bit of steel, my opinion.  A Wycome fan said: "He''s great defensively - he''ll grind out 1-0 wins.  Don''t expect it to be pretty.........."

The sad fact of football life, of course, is that many teams have got promotion doing just that - not pretty, grind out win.  We''ll see.  Problem is half our lot want it to look like Brazil.............

Unless its the big 4 then the whole thing will die on its backside.. there just inst the interest on the continent in other clubs

Easy.  Premier League Asia Exhibition Trophy.  First four in the table on 38 or, if you want to throw in something random (possibly), top four highest scoring teams (which may not always be the same).

"As you will know the Premier League Asia Exhibition Trophy is to be played for the first time at the following venues..........

"The Premier League offers a unique opportunity to you to showcase the talents of players in the greatest league in the world and are now inviting tenders for exclusive television coverage of this utterly unique event in world football which will see the greatest stars of the current game eagerly awaited by millions of viewers across every continent of the globe......."

Tender forms, to be returned by not later than February 1, 2010 are now available from.........

I think that would work. [:D]

If this happens I will not be watching any Premiership football again (unless we go up!), it''s becoming a joke. Better Idea - The big four/five bugger off to Asia permanently and leave the rest of us to it. Then anyone could win the top league which would be re-named Division 1. Well I can dream.

Who cares, we will never be playing in the prem in the near future!!!!!

We could play 50 games in the prem, against spurs and still get relegated!!!

Sorry for the negativity, it seems the way to be at the mo!!
