Norwich Set To Miss Out On.....

Recommended Posts
That is the only bloody headline we seem to see these days. I reckon the EDP must just copy and paste it straight on to the back page.
Very True.  Although it seems that we get interested in a player but then nothing happens.  I think GR thinks he is playing championship manager....or maybe not actually trying

The problem is this.

A club has a valuation of a player, say £1m. We put a bid in of around £250k. The club obviously reject the bid. Norwich fail to increase their bid. Norwich dont get their man.

The same goes to wages.

There is no money.

Alex Fergusson has admitted that he is unlikely to get the striker he wants before the transfer window closes after failing to bring in Berbatov despite the club badly needing a striker and seeking one all summer.Sound familiar? Are MU fans demanding his head?

Once the Berbatov signing goes through I trust you will post a retraction? And comparing Man Utd record in the transfer market with ours? Good call, well done on a sensible, well thought post.

lol I''m no fan of Manure, in fact I detest them, but to compare the ''''red faced one''s'''' transfers with GR''s is quite frankly rather amusing  [:D]

With 10 new players coming into the club this summer I hardly think so.

I agree this striker saga is frustrating but how many on here would have preferred us to have signed a player Roeder didn''t want just to get someone in.

It was a deliberately ridiculous statement meant to be a light-hearted response to an equally ridiculous post. Light-hertedness isn''t something that gets recognised here though - people on this forum seem to revel in depression.Yes I know it''s ridiculous to compare our situation with that of MU but there is still a parallel with regards to the search for a striker. MU have more buying power than almost every club in the world but can they prise Berbatov away from Spurs?  Well yes, I''m sure they could if they offered enough money for him but they have a valuation that they will stick to. If Spurs are asking for more they won''t just pay it to get their man, they''ll go looking for someone else, even if that means having to wait for the next transfer window.People on here think that all we have to do is meet clubs valuations of a player and they are ours. That''s really not the way the world works. Just because we want Iverson and he want''s to come here it doesn''t mean our valuation of him matches Helsingborgs valuation. Should we just pay their valuation anyway? No, of course not! And the same applies for all the other strikers we''ve been linked with. Does this mean we have no money? Again, no it doesn''t, it just means we don''t want to pay over the odds for players.Rather than being skint, it looks to me more like we are looking to pay good money for a good player who is a current 1st team player at their club (as GR stated) but these players may well be over-valued at their clubs. These sorts of deals usually come through right at the death of a transfer window or get delayed until the winter window as the owning club hang onto them for as long as possible so they can replace them before they go and in the hope of bumping the price up!
