lucky green trainers 0 Posted July 29, 2008 whatever the result of yesterday, one things for sure, Roedy has assembled a better side than that which started last season under Granty imo...there is a mix of experience and very promising boys - who will do ok to finish mid-table...if the side gels and overpeforms, staying injury free and getting the rub of the green, then who knows a top6 would be a top, top result...if they bomb, and underperform, a roedy and the board come under fan pressure to boot - then once again we could find ourselves playing to avoid the drop, rather than get promoted...roedys done well on a shoestring, and i feel i owe it to him to give him time to make this team work, its not his fault he''s making do - so for me the jury''s out, i''m sitting on the fence...ouch,anyone care to join me??? Branston Pickle 4,150 Posted July 29, 2008 Of course, it is the case for pretty much all sides that they could do well or badly - at this stage in proceedings no one can tell: those who are meant to do well are as likely to do poorly and those who are favourites for relegation can easily spring a surprise on us all. Imo that is what makes this division such a good and interesting one (far moreso than the Prem)....even with a poor start a side can still climb into the play-offs (Palace last/every season, so it seems), promotion after a mediocre one (Hull), or relegation dogfight after a good one (Barnsley). For us, I think it could go either way but I can''t really see us getting relegated as we at long last appear to have some decent depth to the squad and some decent quality players coming in who were definitely wanted by other clubs. But whether we will finish in the lower third, middle third or upper third of the table come next May, I have no idea. It could be just about anywhere, but I reckon we will be c8th-10th.
