Camuldonum 0 Posted July 14, 2008
What''s a government tent?
Families losing their homes due to the spiralling credit crunch will be given the chance to buy a government tent for just £25, Prime Minister Gordon Brown announced yesterday. Mr Brown said the new initiative would enable families to "stay together and see out these difficult times." "While the current economic difficulties are not in any way the fault of this government it is equally clear that we have a responsibility to those less fortunate than MPs," he said. Opposition leader David Cameron said the scheme was yet another attempt to make money from the most disadvantaged in society. "We know for a fact that these tents are being produced in factories in Tunisia using child labour and are being bought by the government for just £2 each. Every family who loses their home will in effect be paying a fine of £23 to the Treasury." Lib Dem leader Nick Clegg branded the scheme as shameful and "an opportunity lost." "If Gordon Brown really cared about people and the environment he pretends to protect he would have ensured that the tents had a minimum carbon footprint and a grass roof at the very least. He is condemned by his own actions."

Show Me What You Gooot! 0 Posted July 14, 2008 Am I the only one who thinks Peters offer was for the club to create £20mill worth of NEW shares (making him majority shareholder) and NOT to obtain Delias for free? I think I am.Come on even he knows she wasn''t going to just hand over shares for nothing. Why everyone keeps saying that is beyond me. Hes a good business man but hes not that good to convince someone to give him shares for free.

Camuldonum 0 Posted July 14, 2008 Add tents The scheme brings a surprise recall to office for Norwich MP Charles Clarke, sacked as Home Secretary by Tony Blair two years ago over the release of thousands of foreign prisoners some of whom had been recommended for deportation. Mr Clarke will become Minister for Tents and Mobile Lavatories and said last night that he relished the challenge ahead. Mr Clarke said: "I realise that Gordon is not the deluded control freak that I thought he was two years ago but is, in fact, on course to be one of the greatest politicians this country has ever seen." Football fan Mr Clarke will continue in his £200,000-a-year role as The Supporters Director at Peter Cullum''s new look Norwich City.
