ncfclad 0 Posted June 8, 2008 Why cant we just be a bit more open in who we are interested in and what bids have been made, accepted or rejected. Why dont we declare our interest more often.Lets face it most other teams speak up about their targets, and it makes no difference. At the end of the day if you keep quiet the same teams are still going to be interested in that player and the player will choose where he wants to go in the end.Sometimes its better to be open regarding targets, as other people can see that you have ambition and are not messing around.Look at Derby County. That''s why newspapers have to make it up!
Inch High aka Inchy.. 417 Posted June 8, 2008 Sorry ncfclad but for a club to officially reveal their targets would be transfer suicide. Players agents would have a field day conducting player auctions running between interested clubs inflating the price.Just sit back and wait for the anouncments when they come and they will, but probably not till July when most players are back from the euros and their hols. Hog 0 Posted June 8, 2008 But then whats to stop Agents going to the press anyway, I''m sure they do, so the auction ends up happening whatever we do
GMF 1,010 Posted June 8, 2008 I suppose much depends on whether the target player actually wants a move or not in the first place? There may be instances when the buying club goes public because they want to "get their target interested". However, if the player wants to move, you can bet your life that his agent is working overtime, behind the scenes, to make sure everyone knows his client is interested. There is, of course, the issue of tapping up a player to consider. Hooleyfan 0 Posted June 8, 2008 As loathe as I am to add to this posting impatience, I think it is worth bringing up what Roy Keane said last week about getting into the transfer market too early. He has said that he wouldn''t do business in June again after his enthusiastic and perhaps a tad naive start at Sunderland. Methinks, others including Glen know the wiseness of this and I cannot see anything happening before the end of Euro 08. The only businees to be done at the moment is to renew contracts of those you want to keep and dispense with the services of those that are surplus to requirements. Early July will be time enough to start the bunfight.
