Tim Allman 1 Posted June 10, 2008 Excellent news about getting to 20,000 season tickets. I wonder how many of these are U12’s paying £25 for the season – the tickets are so cheap they are effectively free. Not that I’m complaining though, my daughter is still only 10. [/quote] According to the article there are 2,300 under-16 season supporters. Also does it not depend on where you sit whether under 12''s cost £25 i.e does it have to be in the family areas? If the club were harder nosed about this they would cap the level much lower and force fans down a more expensive route of paying by the game, racheting up the cost of season tickets, reducing the number and value of concessions or a combination.Sure the gates would go down closer to the 17k CCC average but revenue would go up. It is to the boards credit that this route is not followed but it does come with a cost in terms of revenue. You pay your money and take your choice.
nutty nigel 7,902 Posted June 10, 2008 Big Fish is correct. And big attendances don''t necessarily translate to big gate receipts althought the club do have the advantage of getting known income up front. I believe that if season tickets were capped at 16,000 the amount of casual tickets sold would actually increase gate receipts,l no matter how succesful the team were on the pitch.
