James Kent 0 Posted May 8, 2008 A lot has been made about how Darren Huckerby was released, but what could we have done differently. First of all I don''t think there is anyway we could have annouced anything before QPR with the clubs future in the balance. Anyway I am interested to hear people views on what should have been done differently.
Robert N. LiM 6,282 Posted May 8, 2008 Pretty simple - it should have been announced before the game at Hillsborough.
canary cherub 1 Posted May 8, 2008 Given that we were safe, of course it should have been announced before the Sheffield Wednesday game. Can you think of any reason why it shouldn''t Jim?

Hardhouse44 289 Posted May 8, 2008 We should of kept him that’s how we should of handled it. Why because he is better than Croft, Russel, Fotheringham, Cureton, Patterson and anybody else you care to mention that is still at this club. We are down to our bare bones yet a player who can if needed play wide left, wide right behind the front 2 or up front has been let go.I said before I''m fine with strong management but he has to be replaced because we have no left wingers as good as him. Also said earlier that if Patterson plays just 1 minute in Huckerby''s natural position of wide left next term it will be a travesty and one we should all let the manager and board know about in not uncertain terms. Can you think of any reason why it shouldn''t Jim? [/quote]The only reason I can think of is that Roeder wanted to concentrate on the final game and take it seriously, as his pre-match comments suggested. In that case, it was a bit of a shame we lost 4-1.The terrible thing is that the decision to let Huckerby go was based on logic and the evidence of this season. I think, just about, that it was the right decision. But the manner in which it has been done has made Roeder look as though he hasn''t got a clue. Really he should be being feted all round the city for the job he''s done this season in sorting out Grant''s mess and keeping us up. But I doubt he could show his face at the moment. The club is always being criticised for ''spin'' and too much PR. The events of this week make a mockery of that. Obviously that''s a matter of personal opinion. But what is certain is that during our unbeaten run, Pattison was on the left, Croft on the right, and Hucks was on the bench.
