Robert N. LiM 4,442 Posted May 8, 2008 No major overhaul at Portman Road Ipswich finished this season six places higher than last year (Getty Images) Ipswich Town chairman David Sheepshanks has ruled out wholesale changes in personnel at Portman Road this summer. He told BBC Radio Suffolk: "There is an awful lot that''s right out there but there are just one or two areas that need strengthening. "We spent a bit of money in January but there are still very significant funds in our bank account." "We are able to go and acquire the players that we and Jim [Magilton] believe he needs to get promotion." Town finished the season in eighth place, a point outside the play-offs. "I would like to think we will get one or two in by the end of May but I have to tell you that there is nothing imminent," Sheepshanks admitted. "We are absolutely committed to bringing the right players into this club. "Marcus [Evans] wants to own a Premiership club, I want to be chairman of a Premiership club again and Jim [Magilton] wants to manage a Premiership club." CanaryOne 0 Posted May 8, 2008 Why would they need a major overhaul , they finished 2 points off the play offs if they add a little quality where its needed they will be a force next season .If we finish one place above them next season we wont have done to bad. CanaryOne 0 Posted May 8, 2008 Of course they might finish 10th or 11th they may even get relegated , but at thuis moment in time they have a far superior squad of players to us and they have more money to strengthen that squad than we do.Thats just the simple truth of it however hard it is to swallow. Grando 263 Posted May 8, 2008 Have to say I think the Binner is right on this one. Let''s worry about our own situation rather than trying to find false hope in their demise. (Though there''s nothing wrong with crossing fingers that it all goes t*ts up down there at Portaloo road!) They only need to make a couple of good signings to have a decent chance of a successful season. Wheras we need to make about ten...
National express super guard 0 Posted May 8, 2008 binners are never right!!!! they spent in january and finished 8th, wow!!! the team that won the championship was made of no one spectacular, ''cept hucks, its how you get the players going, and so far glenns got the dodgy ones going... outta the door!!!! Coelho 0 Posted May 8, 2008 [quote user="Grando"]Have to say I think the Binner is right on this one.[/quote]What, an Ipswich fan on a Norwich forum, telling Norwich fans to ''worry about issues closer to home''? Perhaps an opportunity for him to put right his hypocrisy by following his own advice...
