They''ve taken three weeks because they know how crucialthis decision is, and have been doing everything possible to get agenuinely big name in. I know for a fact, for instance, that theyoffered the job to Chris Coleman, but naturally enough he turned itdown. If they''d gone straight in and appointed someone like Allen, they''d have got dog''s abuse about having no ambition. But if all thebest candidates - most of whom will want to manage in the Prem, and notbelow - turn us down, then they have no choice other than to turn tosomeone like Allen, Tilson, Grayson or Parkinson. And all the while, they will have been researching various candidatesand asking as many people in the know as they can. MWJ specificallymentioned the importance of "due diligence": so in Allen''s case, they''ll have wanted to know why he got the boot from Leicester soquickly. Delia and Mandaric get on well - so the likelihood is Deliawill have contacted Milan, been warned to avoid Mad Dog, and the boardwill then have got in touch with their counterparts at Barnet,Brentford and MK Dons in order to establish whether it was justsomething personal between Mandaric and Allen, or a deeper problem. Andall this doesn''t take five minutes!

Shaun Lawson 0 Posted October 29, 2007 Give me strength! Wizard, the board have been looking at plenty ofcandidates over the past three weeks: some in a job, and some not. Andgiven MWJ couldn''t possibly know who the choice would ultimately be atthe time of the meeting, he was dead right to mention ''other clubs'' -because that applied to some of the candidates. Moreover, as I''vealready said, the board will have spoken to Leicester, MK Dons,Brentford and Barnet in order to find out more about Allen... andhasn''t it even occurred to you that the delay could be down to himfinalising his severance package with Mandaric. In any case, it''s him - as you''ll see when it''s announced tomorrow.Meanwhile, I can only ask this: were you born stupid, or was stupiditythrust upon you?[quote user="1st Wizard"]And I bet all the clouds are madeof fluffy, white cotton wool, in the fairytale worldthat you live in Shaun!. They needed to browse these forums each day until ''1st Wizard'' announced a manager he''d accept! They''ree now on their way to get Mourinho! [;)]. Nahh, your choice was Jewell, wasn''t it? Only One Fernando Derveld... 0 Posted October 29, 2007 Maybe they waited to try and make it look like they''ve ''searched high and low'' for the appropriate candidate but ultimately come up with another duffer. If Allen''s the manager..god help us..
Time to go Delia 0 Posted October 29, 2007 Quite comical really all those top quality applicants we had and the favourite for the job is an unemployed lower league manager . Do not doubt our ambition .

Grando 326 Posted October 29, 2007 If we did offer Coleman the job then it seems like some tapping up was involved as Sociedad didn''t give permission for him to speak to Bolton, so can''t see why they would have done to the mighty Canaries.(In other words we didn''t offer Coleman the job. The nearest we may have got was offering it to some bloke who used to work at Coleman''s, or something...)
Iwan is God 0 Posted October 29, 2007 I''ll answer the initial quetion. The only reason we''ve waited is because the board want to hire Jewell. However, Jewell will go to Leicester as they have more cash to spend & we''ll end up with ''Mad Dog''
