I have it on very good authority (someone who knows Roger Munby) that Youseff ''Moroccon all over the world'' Safri will shortly be leaving FCR. To be honest, when you take into consideration the African nations, Ramadan and his injury problems, it''s not really too much of a problem. I estimate we probably get 15-20 good games a season out of him. Anyone think of decent replacements?

I will be sorry to see him go (if only for the best song at the present time!), but as you have added up all the negatives regarding him I can only reluctantly agree we can''t depend on him for long periods of time.  Ramadan and the ANC for starters...injuries I suppose can happen to anyone, more worrying is the tiredness said to affect him.  If this is simply that his level of commitment to playing is suspect I would say get rid, but I am not convinced it is.  He''s more consistent than most while on the pitch.  He''s a bit of an enigma really, as is Dickson.  Trouble is, both are in midfield, the area which needs a lot of strengthening if we are ever to get out of this league.

Replacements, none come to mind, sadly.  Where is he off to, do you know?

His influence is proven, and he will take some replacing if his does leave. We are still weak in central midfield, with Etuhu''s inconsistency and Safri being so often unavailable.  Fozzy has not looked the part as yet and Spillane looks hard working but very raw.  Hughes is another option but has been poor when picked in central midfield.

Maybe Marney (linked with a return) is seen as a replacement, or Nicholls of Leeds in a swap if Wise really is after Hughes?

If true, it will be a shame to see Safri go. I think we lost the majority of the games he didn''t play in last season. So he will be hard to replace.
