sunset 0 Posted May 24, 2007 After weeks of speculation I was absolutly delighted to hear that Dion Dublin is staying at Carrow Road. This is a massive step forward for the club to have someone of his stature playing for us next season. But as we all know it''s not just his playing ability and commitment on the pitch, it''s what he does off the pitch as well. He is a born leader and a true inspiration to all those around him and if we want to see the youngsters like Chris Martin coming through and fulfiling their true potential there is not better professional in the league than Dion Dublin to help, encourage and guide them to success. I strongly believe that Dion should be made captain of Norwich City Football Club, he has all the attributes of a winner on the pitch and if you have been lucky enough to meet him he is a complete gentleman off the pitch as well. Just read his recent quotes and you will realise that he wants promotion to the premier league as much as we do! We also can''t under estimate how hard it was for him to make the decision to stay at Carrow Road, he is a family man and his family are a long way away! As far as im concerned Dion Dublin is the Captain that we need on and off the pitch if we are going to be a success next year! On The Ball City S
Huddy 0 Posted May 24, 2007 I''m waiting for someone to suggest a Knighthood or perhaps Lord Mayor.Sir Dion Dublin, Lord Mayor Of Norwich
Smudger 0 Posted May 24, 2007 So you would have a 38yr old that in all likelihood will only play every other game as captain would you?A captain should be a leader that is more or less one of the first names down on the team sheet EVERY WEEK!!!
Blainsey 2 Posted May 24, 2007 I concur smudger, why appoint a captain who isnt on the pitch every game?club captain perhaps.....
Citizen Journalist Foghorn 0 Posted May 24, 2007 surely we have a better candidate for Captain than the quiet meek Adam Drury.....
Tumbleweed 106 Posted May 24, 2007 Some folks can find a cloud in every silver lining. DD is an on field leader and in his own words is here to help turn things around. He ain''t going to be doing that in Costa Coffee every Saturday afternoon.
blahblahblah 2 Posted May 24, 2007 We do CJF, and his name is Andy Hughes.Let me just don a tin hat while you pull out the howitzer...
Huddy 0 Posted May 24, 2007 I would like to see us sign an experieced centre half to play with Shackall, someone with leadership qualities. Matt Jackson woulds have been perfect, also as a captain, unfortunately he''s just gone to rivals watford. An opportunity missed i feel, i hope the reason behind our apparent lack of interest isnt that we''ve spent his salary on dublin!
Huddy 0 Posted May 24, 2007 In response to my own comment about Matt Jackson; i didnt realise that he is 35 and so i''m actually glad we didnt sign him, i for some reason thought he was about 32 and could ddo a good job for us for a couple of years.
ZLF 335 Posted May 24, 2007 Dion will provide leadership when he is one the pitch whether he is captain or not - thats what leaders do.However captain has to be someone who is going to appear, injurys aside, week in week out. That is simply not going to be dion even if he stays fit.
