canarytim 0 Posted January 21, 2007 CANARY TIMTHE NUMBER OF POSTS ON HERE REGARDING THE NIGEL WORTHINGTON SITUATION IS COVERING UP THE REAL PROBLEM WE FACE.EVERYONE SAYS THE BOARD SHOULD HAVE SACKED WORTHY EARLIER, I AGREE AT THE END OF LAST SEASON WOULD HAVE BEEN MY CHOICE. BUT I CAN SEE WHY AFTER 5 GAMES THIS SEASON HE WAS`NT.THESE GAMES PROVED TO BE A FALSE DAWN BUT WE STILL SEEM OBSESSED WITH WHETHER OR NOT THE BOARD SHOULD APOLOGISE. THIS IS IMMATERIAL AS WE ARE WHERE WE ARE.... IN A RELEGATION FIGHT, AND THAT IS WHAT IS IMPORTANT. AT THE AGM I WAS VERY IMPRESSED WITH PETER GRANT. HE IS INTERESTED IN ALL ASPECTS OF THE CLUB FROM THE UNDER-9`s AND UPWARDS WHICH HE IS GOING TO OVERHAUL AND LIKEWISE OUR FAILING SCOUTING SYSTEM, WE MUST GIVE HIM OUR SUPPORT .AS FOR THE BOARD BEING COMPARED WITH THE PREVIOUS REGIME, SORRY WON`T HAVE IT.I HAVE SOME INSIGHT TO THE PREVIOUS REGIME AND I ASSURE ALL CITY SUPPORTERS WE HAVE GOT A VERY GOOD BOARD (INVESTMENT AT £8 MILLION). I KNOW SOME WILL DISAGREE WITH THIS , BUT PLEASE DON`T COMPARE THEM TO WHAT`S GONE BEFORE.THE ONE GROUP THAT DID GET A EASY RIDE AT THE AGM WAS THE PLAYERS (SOME THIS SEASON HAVE BEEN AWFUL), BUT WE NOW HAVE A CHOICE TO GET BEHIND THEM OR GIVE OPPOSITION TEAMS AN ADVANTAGE AT CARROW ROAD. THE CHOICE IS OURS BECAUSE RELEGATION WOULD BE AN ABSOLUTE DISASTER FOR US ALL. (EXCEPT "WE LOVE YOU" WHO HAS ALLEGEDLY RENEWED HIS PASSPORT)
blacko 0 Posted January 21, 2007 Tim I think what you have said makes an awful lot of sence. The idea of playing at home is that you have an advantage, with wingeing fans and barracking it becomes an advantage for the away team

Grant hasn`t even got to grips with whats going on in the dressing room yet ! what price his probable success in in the wider context ?

The first step in overcoming an addiction is to admit that you have a problem. If I am to have any faith at all that the board know how to improve our current situation then, as far as I am concerned, they need to admit their mistakes and apologise. Stevie Wonder 0 Posted January 22, 2007 I''m not sure what purpose an apology would serve as it doesn''t really mean anything.I do agree with the point about the fans. We do make a difference. A large part of the "success" achieved under Worthy was the incredible support the team received at home. In the play off season we only lost twice at home (Brum & Bradford) which was the second best in the league that year. The following year we were pretty good at home apart from a spell after Christmas when it went per shaped and in the title season we were almost unstoppable at home (apart from losses to Watford & Bradford). Even in the Prem season the home form wasn''t that bad.The point was further rammed home in the Leicester game when the fans never stopped singing even at 1-0 down and what happened? The players responded and we ran out 3-1 winners. We need to put our differences aside and get behind the team. I for one do not agree that relegation would be good if it meant a new board (sorry Smudger!). There is no guarantee that with a new broom we would sweep back into the Champs at the first attempt - Forest and Sheff Wed didn''t and Man City only did so by the skin of their teeth! Relegation would be an unmitigated disaster and give our friends "south of the border" the biggest laugh of their lives.Lets really get behind the players at the next game against the "old Gold" and get 3 much needed points. Bellamy & O''Neill alone were worth over 11m when Chase left). I KNOW SOME WILL DISAGREE WITH THIS , BUT PLEASE DON`T COMPARE THEM TO WHAT`S GONE BEFORE. Why not? 3rd, 4th, 5th in the Pl et al.What insight?[/quote]Twaddle, Tim, twaddle.Flies in the face of all the evidence.Smith & Co are failing badly in comparison.OTBC
Whats a right winger 0 Posted January 24, 2007 Football is a very different business now than it was in the Chase era(pre Sky) and I sti;ll believe we were successful despite Chase rather than because of him. Talk of money wasted under the current regime is nothing in comparison to some of Mr Chase''e excess. As for Bellamy being worth together with O''Neill £11million when he left, Bellars was only 16 at the time & hadn''t made his debut. Yes with hindsight selling Eadie, Johnson & O''Neill in 1996 to clear the debt would have been the sensible thing but who would have agreed with that then. As to apologies, we all know that some are going to go on & on until the board say yes you were right & we were wrong (AGM last week) just so they can feel superior. It will achieve nothing bar massaging some inflated egos
