CROFT IN TEARS

Recommended Posts

He was in tears at missing an easy goal-scoring chance, wasn''t he? I don''t know about tears, but I get extremely annoyed and frustrated at some of the appalling shooting from so-called professional footballers. I''m not just talking about City players here - the very best at the world''s top clubs are just as capable of missing sitters. They are also just as capable of the misplaced pass and kicking the ball into the stands when attempting to cross the ball, or failing to clear the 1st defender when taking corners. Do top stars in other sports have such shoddy standards when it comes to skill levels? I don''t think so.

He wasn''t crying because he could have a another goal against his name but because of the stick he knows he''ll now get from the dressing room!

That''s what makes football so great though. If the players always played robotically well according to their ability there''d be no fun left. Penalty shoot-outs would last for hours!

In an era of mercenary professionals I think it is a measure of Crofts'' integrity that he was in tears. Another goal would most likely have secured us a much needed win and relieved some of the pressure on him and his team mates.

He cares about the club and his performances and that is to be respected.

Also, he was probably sad about missing out on a lucrative goal bonus...

Croft is a good player most of the time, he just needs to be more consistant in his play ant would score more goals and would not cry so much.

OTBC

Good luck to Peter Grant

Are you serious? At least he cares. If there was any indication that he

didn''t care that he''d missed an easy scroing chance he''d be torn to

shreds. I was far less impressed by Paul Robinson''s attitude after his

particular incident against Croatia. He seemed to be more interested in

trying to convince everyone it had nothing to do with him than actaully

holding his hands to it. No-one seems to have suggested to him that he

might have stopped the ball first seeing as there was no-one anywhere

near him at the time.

And what are you talking about saying the same thing doesn''t happen in

other sports?  What rubbish! A tennis player missing an easy

smash, a rugby player missing a conversion in front of the posts, a

cricketer dropping a sitter, a relay runner missing a hand-over, a

sprinter getting disqualified on the start.... none of these things

ever happen do they!!

Crofty, remember that Kanu miss at WBA last season?  He was right on the line, inside the post.  My grandma etc. He simply couldn''t miss but he did.  Now he can''t stop scoring for Pompey.  Cheer up mate.

Calm down, A1. You seem to be in full rant mode there. I may well have over stated the case about footballers skills deficit, but I''m sure you don''t see nearly so many unforced errors in other sports. Could it be because they care more and train harder.
